It could very well be the latter; I was watching it with someone who would not stop talking throughout the whole thing, so I missed some stuff anyway. I might even rewatch the whole thing on my laptop before episode 2.

I really like Varys too.
Loving this show, few changes here and there wich are bound to happen, but still is faithful to the books plot and even enhancing some characters.
Some characters i'm even liking them more on show than books. Bring on next episode.
