Come to think of it, I don't know, I take that one back. I don't think that's the case. She might be intimidating at first, but she does seem like a very nice lady.

I didn't mean to suggest intimidation although that would be a given, ONI, Spartans, UNSC cut throat politics etc. I mean Parangosky is a hell of alot more scarier than Halsey ever could be.

I could say more but I don't know how far you are into the story, so keep reading and maybe you'll see where I'm coming from. I do think that it's a little ridiculous taking Halsey to task over anything considering everything she did was right under the nose of the UNSC/ONI apparatus. But there are things about Halsey that also demonstrate that she's not quite done doing things "her way". No matter how unethical.

I started out despising Parangosky, but I'm growing a kind of liking for the old bird scarecrow, but I get the strong feeling that this little bit of twisted fondness that I'm starting to have for her character might very well evaporate depending on what goes down with Halsey. Parangosky makes Ackerson seem like a nat by comparison.

Man, Glasslands is just getting better and better. This author is definitely doing Nylund's stuff proud in a major way, I feel. I initially started out kind of annoyed with the Covenant or Elite side of the story, but I've grown to love even that, too.

I'm not done yet, but I'm already thinking about what might come in a potential follow-up, which is on the way :) 202 more pages to go.

Got to the Halsey crucifying part, and, wow, that was some pretty rough stuff, but I loved every single moment of it. This stuff is damn exciting. Talk about laying down the gauntlet. This book has gotten way too good for words now :)

And wow at Osman pretty much laying out what they are going to do to Halsey once they get into the dyson sphere, even calling her a bitch in the process in Naomi's presence. I will admit that Halsey attempting what she did, even kidnapping Kelly as she did, was pretty damn dangerous and wreckless beyond belief in the middle of the Covenant War, but it's amazing to consider what they might think about doing to her. When it turned out that Halsey, when she sent out the signal, was talking to Parangosky herself, it even gave me chills, thinking, "Holy shit, this is bad for Halsey!"

Also, wow at the Lucy punching Halsey part. I was stunned by that, but Halsey was kinda going a bit too far with the seeming bullying and threatening of Prone to Drift with a gun. He was simply being cautious, and nothing more. Mendez was right to restrain Lucy after she hit Halsey, too, because one of the Spartan IIs might have friggin killed her if he hadn't been holding her. Throughout that entire situation, I just sorta imagined Linda's sniper rifle bullet whizzing past her head as a bit of a warning to never do that again, haha.

Halo Glasslands is all kinds of badass. Gotta say. Back to reading.

The way they handle the relationships are just amazing, though. The way the various Spartans II or III alike have been reacting to what has been going on around them has been so damn spot on, man. And you know Parangosky is a badass when even Halsey seems to get chills when she speaks.

Got a huge badass vibe when Fred stepped in like a total badass to stop the arguing between both Mendez and Halsey when he thought it had finally gone too far. And then, since he outranks both, he let them both know that this was an order, but it was said in a way where you know shit was about to get real if they thought he was going to stand for the two of them not backing down immediately. That was really badass, I thought. It was the first time he had ever pull rank on Halsey, much less Mendez. Fred always struck me as an awesome secondary leader to the Chief, and you truly are getting that same impression from this book.

Also loved the part where Naomi beats the living shit out of Jul ROFL :D Jul was straight gangsta'd :P

I'll tell you one thing, though, Lucy is DAMN lucky that Kelly didn't come at her ass again the way she did when she first touched down on Onyx with Halsey. Remember they got involved in close range fist to fist combat, and it was Kurt that had to save Lucy's life, because Kelly was spanking that ass. This was from the Ghosts of Onyx book, the one that preceded this one.

She's ruthless and very clever. Putting Halsey to work is a brilliant distraction. It reminds of me of the Bourne Ultimatum where the CIA Director puts Landy to work to capture Bourne knowing the entire time he and Vosen intend to implicate her in everything single mishap that goes wrong. In this case, Vosen and the CIA Director are Parangosky and Serin.

Yes, indeed, seems very similar. The one thing they aren't accounting for, though, is the Chief and Cortana. There's just no way Cortana, when she does make contact again with the UNSC and ONI, doesn't find out what's happened to Halsey.

Not sure how it would work exactly, but I would just love for a situation where the Chief would go in and personally try to rescue Halsey, depending on what kinds of plans ONI have for her. Or even if not to rescue her, just go in there and talk with her since none of her Spartan IIs actually got one last chance to see and talk with her. And considering the chances of Cortana becoming some kind of legendary super AI of sorts in this new trilogy are pretty damn high (No AI has seemingly ever come into contact with as much direct Flood/Forerunner Tech and Artificial Intelligence as she has), Cortana may possess capabilities far exceeding ONI's expectations.

Those look like Precursor pillars floating in the first artwork, and the second one, I assume, is possibly either the ONI Infinity ship, or just somewhere inside the hub world requiem.

Requiem might be a Precursor Hub World, like the world where the Human species made their last stand against the Forerunners in the Human and Prophet vs Forerunner war.

The human species was beyond badass, it would appear. It reads like if they weren't busy fighting the flood secretly at the same time that they were fighting the Forerunners, it sounds as if Humans might have potentially defeated the Forerunners, or perhaps even stalemated them.

Or maybe that's going a bit far, but it does make the Forerunner victory over the human race a far less impressive one. Seems as if human were fighting two powerful enemies simultaneously, technically a third I guess, if you count the fact that the Prophets seem to have sold the humans out and made a deal with the forerunners.
