Well, I know Ridley is coming strong with Prometheus, but his last few have really been huge letdowns compared to what I expected, so I kinda didn't want a similar thing to happen with Halo.

I mean, I was anticipating that Robin Hood movie with Russell Crowe like crazy, and then it sucked. Then there was Body of Lies, with both crowe and decaprio, which I was excited about, and that turned out to under deliver as well. Ridley Scott has some amazing ones on his track record, like Gladiator, but you never know with him sometimes. Seems like he'll always nail the visual and hype aspects of a big movie he has coming before release, but then when you actually see it, it's not even close to what you expected, based on his body of work.

I think 343 wants us to think that we'll be fighting forerunners, but the end of Halo : Primordium definitely, to me, makes it sound like we'll be fighting Precursors instead, which are the species that created humans and forerunners alike, and I guess pretty much every other species, too.

It's basically implied that the primordial that called itself the last precursor, may not actually be the last of all precursors, but simply just the last of that specific kind of precursor. The forerunners wiped out their creators, the precursors, when they learned that the precursors were planning on just annihilating them all, as that's seemingly what they did. The precursors create a species and then, for whatever reason, decide to completely destroy that species. They failed, at least initially, to do this to the forerunner civilization, but the Primordial greatly implied that there were other precursors who escaped complete annihilation by forerunners and "creation continued", whatever that means.

I really don't see much reason for forerunners to want to fight humanity unless, of course, there's a gigantic misunderstanding initially as to what the intents of both sides are, but the precursors sound like a particularly evil pack of bastards who just want to annihilate and consume everything just for the sake of saying they did, so they seem like a more appropriate enemy. Precursors, for some reason, wanted to test humanity for something, believing that the forerunners had already failed their test. Humanity was the chosen species by the Precursors, but the reason for why they chose humanity clearly seems to be very sinister.

The flood might actually turn out to be just one particular kind of precursor that somehow leads to the creation of new precursors. Or they may not actually be precursors at all, but simply lower beings that served precursors. So, essentially, Halo 4 might represent a situation where we find out that the flood, as dangerous as we thought they were, were merely just servants, and now we're about to find out who their masters are. That would be a cool angle to take.

To be honest, there's a good chance that the spartan there isn't really the chief, but another spartan entirely. I wonder if the shield world Requiem is where the Librarian is? Now that would be pretty badass.

Seeing MC in action again, will make mY E3!

Yep, by far my most anticipated of E3, easily. So high on my list, in fact, that the second or third games on my list don't even come to mind. I'm excited about E3 only because of Halo 4. I'm sure come the end of the show, I'll have found a number of other things to be really excited about as well, like perhaps the new Grand Theft Auto.

And, what's cool about this game, is that they promise to focus more on the Chief's character, but without turning into some big, speech making mouthpiece, but the Chief sure as hell talks more than he is ever shown doing in the games, and I personally think it's worth hearing him speak just a tiny bit more.

And, best of all, there seems to be more of a focus on actually make him look like a badass supersoldier with more strength feats and such. I like the added touch nice thud sound with each step, making it more obvious that you're in a monstrously heavy piece of mjolnir armor. Then they are the little changes to the hud to make it more obvious that you're wearing a helmet. Can't wait for the Press Conference.

Yeah I'm hoping for a real cinematic sci-fi epic! :)

My wishlist for single player campaign:
1) super big, varied and fun encounters - Halo 1 and 3 are the best in those aspects, Reach had the biggest scale but lacked variety
2) environments that feel 'alien' - playing Halo 1 for the first time gave that incredible feeling of exploring alien places where you could never be at ease - they were for the most part so unlike any other game, movie or real world locations that they pulled it off magnificently. Halo 2 was too Aztec inspired, Halo 3's arc was a bit too similar to Halo 1to have any unfamiliar vibe, Reach and ODST had generic human-inhabited sci-fi locations
3) good writing - I felt that after Halo 2 quality of dialogues fell rapidly and they felt very forced for the most part, with many downright terrible lines ("-Ma'am, squad leaders are requesting rally points. Where should I send them? -To war")
4) great music - no brainer with Marty on board, now I don't really know what to expect - samples are good but sorta generic
5) story that's as interesting as Cryptum and Primordium seem to indicate. I kind of regret that Franky confirmed there's no Flood in Halo 4 in any way whatsoever as I expect it to play huge part in the new trilogy and from my most hated part of the Halo universe it became the most intriguing after Cryptum and Primordium

Oh my god, that "to war" part was handled so horrendously. There were so many parts of Halo 3 that I felt deserved far more cinematic respect, considering the weight of what was taking place. I wouldn't worry about the flood szaromir. We may not fight against them in this game, but I wouldn't be surprised if they still play some sort of major story role, and there's a pretty good chance that we could fight them in Halo 5 and onward. No fighting Covenant doesn't mean we probably won't hear them mentioned, or that we won't learn anything new about them. Cryptum and Primordium were amazing!!!

While I'm very hesitant to call them hacks, considering the amount of work it takes to make any game at all, much less one at the level of quality as the Halo titles, I did always feel that, with their kind of resources, as well as the kind of commercial and critical success they've had over the years, that, even though they pushed the envelope in a number of ways, I always felt that there was an alarming level of complacency or the presence of a very backward thinking mindset with regards to giving a franchise as big as Halo the kind of next gen attention it deserved. COD4, to me, felt more epic and cinematic than Halo 3 as I was playing through it, and that, I thought, was inexcusable.

Oops, just realized my mistake. We don't necessarily need to fight the flood in order for them to play a key role in Halo 4's story. Frankie's comment can very easily just mean we won't fight the flood, but the flood could still play a pivotal role in the story nonetheless. We could simply hear new, interesting information about them as we play our way through the story of Halo 4. Also, in Primordium it is largely hinted at that the flood itself, or a gravemind, might actually have been one type of precursor this entire time, and we didn't know it. Either that, or the flood is simply the key to the recreation of new precursors. But, one thing's for certain: Not every precursor was wiped out by the Forerunners. The Primordial clearly stated that some escaped the annihilation of the forerunners, and creation continued. But imagine if the flood has actually just been one kind of precursor this entire time, or maybe just a servant species of the precursors? If the primary enemy is to be the forerunners, then there has to be some major misunderstanding, I think. Master Builder Faber's fate is still very much unknown, and some forerunners were clearly loyal to him. I greatly doubt the Didact would want to fight humanity now, unless of course he maybe felt that the Librarian herself was somehow in danger, and then I suppose anything is possible. There are so many exciting places Halo 4's story could go really.
