Pure amazing performances all around, it was hilarious and dramatic, such a badass movie, I will buy this movie when I have the chance.

Even though things in the movie seemed serious at points the acting of the main characters was so good I couldnt help but laugh at some of the lines they said.

9.8/10

I wish it would have lasted longer.

Okay seen a couple of movies lately:

Transcendent man - Great documentary about Ray Kurzweil and his view on the future: The Singularity... Although I'm not convinced about the dates he sets, I am very interested in the rest of his theory. Thought provoking stuff, I can really recommend this:

What's also great about it is the both critics and followers get to express their views.

Gattaca - Great Sci-fi flick from 1997 (With Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman and Jude Law). Mostly about the way society splits up after genetic enhancement in the future, creating two sides: the upper, superior class (enchanced genetics) and the lower "god-child" class who were born with all the natural flaws of mankind.

Colombiana - Pretty entertaining action flick. Female assassin looking for revenge! Zoe Zaldana = HOT!

Drive - Awesome movie, felt like watching an 80's movie (cinematography, music) with an interesting story and some nice twists. Great performance by Ryan Gosling

Just watched Limitless. Thought it was really good, superbly shot and had a lot of sweet ideas rolling around... would highly recommend it.

I was very interested in this concept ever since I heard about it, thanks for the recommendation. In my opinion singularity is very likely to happen, though not with all the implications usually associated with it. We are already approaching that point. Scientists can grow a fully functioning heart in a tank NOW. The advances in nanotechnology are still in the early stages and it's staggering what they already come up with.

But really all it comes down to is how we're gonna solve the energy problem. Tesla's dream of free energy is still very much alive today, but solar cells? Also I don't think you can enhance human cognition. We don't even know where consciousness is. New discoveries in neuroscience actually imply it could be stored outside our physical brain. Yes, we know nothing. But for technology to progress in such a predictable way we'd have to know everything about it right now.

Yeah, I also think this singularity will eventually happen, only problem is, it's not going to happen in the time-span Ray Kurzweil predicts. His prediction is based mostly on his "dream" to revive his father and live forever, which in my opinion is clearly affecting his judgement (I had to chuckle when I saw him popping all those "vitamins and other supplements. Heard he takes about 150 pills a day???). And he's also very optimistic about his views (a bit too optimistic). Who's to say these incredibly smart/efficient A.I's/machines won't decide we're obsolete or something along that line?

And there's also the possibility we (as a species) won't make it that far anyway, maybe we destroy ourselves before we get there (virus, war, etc).Concerning the energy problem, I think there's already a solution for it but this is being kept under wraps by the big oil/car/energy companies until the time the world is at a fuel-crisis. I mean they're making a shitload of money out of it at the moment, so why stop now?
I remember watching a documentary some time ago about a car driving on hydrogen fuel. This research was being funded by General Motors and when the scientists had a breakthrough, GM pulled the plug on the finance and took the whole design/discovery and locked it away in a safe ("Nothing to see here"!)

But yeah, Ray's not very cautious about the timeline of his prediction, I do understand his reasoning (his law of accelerating growth) but I still think his prediction is too optimistic. I did only recently hear about this whole subject (and was pretty amazed that there's such a huge following around it (followers and critics alike) and there's even a whole online community about this stuff; http://hplusmagazine.com/

It's also kind of funny since a lot of this stuff was mentioned in Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

I don't think the oil industry could old back an actual discovery, what i do think they do is retard the process and lobby against research and spending money on stuff like fusion and alternative energy sources....which is stupid becasue you won't be able to replace a diesel engine on a 18-wheeler with anything else any time soon, so it's not like they'll go out of busines.

Trancendent Man was an interesting movie though. I mean ive heard it all before, since i like this kind of "science for the layman" stuff, but this movie really painted a very sad portrait of Kurzweil. I mean the guy litterally seems obsessed with his dead father. It was almost a bit creepy :P

Yeah that also makes sense, but you can't tell me they don't have anything locked away for the day fossil fuels run out ;-)Yeah I felt a bit sorry for the guy, I mean he looks like he really is a genius, too bad his will to live forever and the will to revive his father have severely impacted his judgement and the ability to look at things objectively. Which is a shame because I do think there's a lot of truth in what he's saying (Although I also agree with some of those critics that were allowed to explain their view in the movie).

I don't know if there was even a party, but I just saw I Am Legend.

I really liked the relationship between What's His Name and Samantha, the dog.
But it quickly turned into something else, with "zombies" that didn't pose much anxiety or fear, no build up, and a "I wish we had another hour of film" type of ending.
Maybe that's all due to the higher budget filming and CGI.


I suppose I could tell the more sensitive parts of my family that, "this is a touching Disney approach to the zombie genre".

Will Smith did a pretty good job, but the dog stole the show.

Let's hope if the next 28 isn't so soft.

I just watched the move...
Uhhmmmm, what the fuck is that Movie even called..
O yes, The Darkest Hour.
Possibly the worst move I've ever watched for a long long time. If I had paid to watch that move I would of walked out half-way through, it's good I didn't Hah...
Acting = 1/10
Script = -2/10
Effects = 4/10
Characters = -16/10 (complete douchebags)

Complete Crap-fest.
One thing was funny though, the main character was like 4ft Hahahahaha.....

I don't know man, I tought it was original as in not the usual main characters as in other invasion movies, also felt inclosed as in more personal.

The pacing was very good too.

The Village. Unbreakable

Getting to all the M Night Shyamalan movies I've missed over the years, which is all of them except The Sixth Sense and Signs

I've tried thinking about why I like one over the other, but I end up contradicting both movies.
I dont' know why I think Unbreakable is a good movie and The Village should have been a book for boring people, but I do, and that's that.

Unbreakable = See
The Village = Don't See (unless you like to be bored)

Drive is good, but i don't know about 4 times good :P

I like how it conveys emotion as well. Pads and slowmotion. That's how you know it's an emotional scene. It's slow with ambient music :P

Tremors 1 through 3: The first two are actually good fun. Not great movies but fun to watch. The third though? Nah, the lack of budget really shows and the jokes are so lowbrow it's not even funny anymore. Ass blasters? Really?

I also saw Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, which was really nice. A very well made movie, well played and interesting all the way through. Definitely give that one a go. Gary Oldman is great in it :)

...really? I mean they both did a god job, but it seems to me taht whenever there was supposed to be an emotional scene or something building the characters there was always the slomo and pads, even it out wiht some nice enviroment shots and bam, super sensetive :P

It was like the movie telling me "hey buddy! Pay attention, we are doing emotions now!". It was a really good movie though, just some small bits that kinda annoyed me about it :P
