I watched the first trailer which was released some months ago, and i sorta regret it. I'm not gonna watch these new ones. The closer to release you get, the more revealing are the trailers. Some trailers, especially of movies-with-a-twist shows half the story and most of the twists in the later trailers.

When it comes to prometheus i want to have some of that exploration feel intact, not knowing what will show up during the journey.

From the movies thread but since I wanted you to see it and I am serious: Stop whining Phaethon and go re-cut the Prometheus trailers, call it a movie, upload it to YouTube, become famous, and get the next-next-Godzilla remake. Problem solved! Oh, and we can all enjoy the short version of Prometheus ;)

Seriously, go do that. I think it would be awesome to watch a 5 min Prometheus movie that takes cuts from the loooong trailers, maybe splices a little Alien(s) in here and there, and viola! A free Prometheus pre-screening!

Just don't expect Xenos up in this though, we know it shares a lot with the mitology but newcomers won't know shit about it and it seems the studio wants it to keep it that way.

You bashed 2001 a while back in another thread. I wonder what your idea of good science fiction is. Is it Transformers? Some people like to think and stuff.
But my point is that marketing are hiding the fact that this probably shares a lot with Alien.
They're making an effort to distance themselves from Alien. This is not a direct prequel to Alien. It hasn't been since Damon Lindelof re-wrote the original screenplay. Here he explains his reasoning:

They want both franchises to stand on their own. They don't want to "mess" with Alien, and they don't want you to know how this story ends.

Although I could almost predict the whole plot, that leads to the opening scenes in Alien (based on the trailers we've seen so far)
But I'm going to enjoy this nonetheless...
