New Prometheus trailer HOT

I think Chronicles of Riddick universe is awesome, great sceneries, nice character races, Riddick.
And then we got Terminator...2, so awesome!
Alien, Aliens, Predator.

I seen Blade Runner directors cut, gotta say, it bored me, until the End Credits showed up and played the music, good stuff lol.

Although I could almost predict the whole plot, that leads to the opening scenes in Alien (based on the trailers we've seen so far)
But I'm going to enjoy this nonetheless...
They've pretty explicitly stated that this is not the case at all.

They're making an effort to distance themselves from Alien. This is not a direct prequel to Alien. It hasn't been since Damon Lindelof re-wrote the original screenplay. Here he explains his reasoning:

They want both franchises to stand on their own. They don't want to "mess" with Alien, and they don't want you to know how this story ends.
Yeah I kinda agree, is just seems a little funny thats all, being that I can imediatly tell is on the same universe.

What is my idea of good sci fi? well I can think of one example, "Alien" :P

I can see them not wanting to F with Alien. But putting so much attention to make them look similar it will feel like they're wasting people's time to not give some interesting backstory as to at least why one of those ships was on the planet, even if they don't mention how that ship got there.

It's absolutely related to Alien, it's just not a direct prequel to Alien. It's its own story on its own terms. I'm sure the two franchises will still be fundamentally connected and I'm sure they won't hide that from us.

Marketing says otherwise and that's my whole point here from the start, why not say "Director of Alien"?

There's already parts of the trailers actually pointing to Xenomorphs.. Not to mention that the so called alien craft you see in the trailer looks really like the one found on LV-426 (the planet from Alien). It might be the same planet, after all you see the craft explode and crash land on the planet again.

And I like Riddick as a character, the Ryu sci fi IMO.
And those awesome sceneries of the planets, CGI and the nice artdesign on the Necromancers.

I want Riddick 2, Vin Diesel said he was going to make it!

I seriously doubt there are xenomorphs in this movie.. at least not in the forms we're used to seeing them. Xenomorphs are hybrids though, so it's conceivable that we'll see some earlier form.

Unless they're completely lying about the re-write, there's no way this movie leads directly into Alien. It's just not going to happen.

they made it up as they went along then when it came to crunch time they could not find a way to explain it, it sounded mechanical because it sounded cool and different, they took walt because he was growing older and about to sprout and fuck up the time line of show.

The way i view lost is probally the same way people should view ME3 at the minute, its not about whats at the end its about the journey to get there.

yes, I love the Riddick universe. Cool characters, awesome action, good enemy force!! Excited about the new movie

Didn't like Aliens cause the alien seemed like an animal/didn't display any intelligence. It had some nice moments (like the vent scene or the alien birth scene) but overall I thought the it was pretty generic

I was like 10 or 11 when I first saw it back in the late 90's at my grand mother's place. It scared the crap out of me and that was it, I didn't really see anything special in except for the scenes I mentioned. And now just recently, I watched both Alien and Aliens back to back and was impressed by neither. Primitive extraterritorial reptile like creature gets on board ships and takes crew out 1 by 1, what's the big deal? What are its objectives? Why infect one human then kill all the rest? What does it gain? I thought the creature was very primitive had basic survival needs but it was portrayed as something far more intelligent which killed it for me.

Long story short, I like my aliens on the intelligent side :P
