Since 5597 DaysMy point is, the plan was always for 2 films. As such, scripts were written to make sure that by the end of the second, the Hobbit adaptation would be finished. Announcing a third so late in the game makes me question what they're actually inserting into that last movie. If it's wholly original and doesn't disturb what they had planned with the first two, fine. But somehow I don't think that's the case.

Plus, the feeling and themes of 'the start of a journey' and 'the end of a journey' beat 'during the journey', imo.
