What I gather is that the third film is a "bridge" movie, ultimately tying up loose ends from the first two films while connecting this trilogy to the LOTR trilogy. But I can't help but feel worried about it... I mean, the plan was for two movies, and the fact that Peter has announced a third more than a little odd.

My point is, the plan was always for 2 films. As such, scripts were written to make sure that by the end of the second, the Hobbit adaptation would be finished. Announcing a third so late in the game makes me question what they're actually inserting into that last movie. If it's wholly original and doesn't disturb what they had planned with the first two, fine. But somehow I don't think that's the case.

Sounds like it's just more of the original story and not bullshit tacked on

Just make it a weekly 3hr miniseries with no end in sight and call it a day.

It isn't just the 350 pages though, as the LotR appendices add a lot of extra content - plus it allows them to literally include every single detail, leaving nothing significant out.

And they're likely to be three fantastic movies. If it's anything like the previous trilogy, it'll be worth more money than any other movie this year.

Like The Two Towers?

No thank you.

MOvie technically and everything else was fantastic, as for the movie itself it was a borefest.

I thought Two Towers was the weakest of the three, but Helm's Deep made up for that. One of my all-time favourite battles on screen.

That was not the problem, the end of that movie was great, teh battle itself was a great showcase but the first 2 and half hours were zzzzzzzzZZZZZ.

Two Towers was meant to be exciting, but they cut some stuff out of the book and then added some other boring crap in. Frodo was supposed to be dead at the end and revealed to be alive in the next movie.

A Hobbit trilogy doesn't interest me in the slightest. I didn't even want to see two films of that shit.

Two Towers wasn't THAT bad. It remains my third favourite (out of three, lol) but only by a small bit. FOTR and ROTK are tied, and they beat TTT simply because of Amon Hen and Balins tomb, and Osgiliath and Minas Tirith (including Pellinor fields) respectively.

Because sadly, all Two towers had was Helms Deep (and the Warg attack but that was really short).

Plus, the feeling and themes of 'the start of a journey' and 'the end of a journey' beat 'during the journey', imo.

EDIT: I would watch the fuck out of a weekly 3-hour episode 'Middle-Earth' series.

Just hope that the Hobbit trilogy doesn't seem... stretched.
