Has anyone tried it yet? Its blazing fast!!! Not yet sure about Metro UI with a mouse and keyboard yet (probably just takes some getting used to) but the "Tiles" idea is brilliant and i'd imagine it would be awesome on a tablet. I didn't think any browser could top Firefox and Chrome (Beta) in terms of raw speed but IE10 makes them feel a little slow!

Reading about it, needing a reg hack to get back to the good old taskbar, it seems it's just not right for me at the moment, and I've just recently gotten used to Windows7 and it's quirks...

Is there an IE10 beta for Windows 7?

btw, I was hoping Microsoft would go the route of some of the W8 concepts that fans came up with; they looked freaking epic and kept the same general UI as the current windows.
A couple of those concepts are much more relevant than Metro for a desktop, which seems more like Bob 2.0.

To me it feels like I'm using Win7 not that long yet aswell.. So Win8 comes to fast for me atm.. Maybe I'll try it in 2 years time orso, but for the time being not gonna spend money on a new OS..

It does indeed need a registry hack to get the Win7 start menu back, i almost did it during the early frustrating days of trying to figure how to use the new OS. It has taken me about a week and I've finally adapted and haven't looked back since, I think I've fallen for the new style. The learning curve is pretty huge for Windows 8, it takes some getting used to and lots of patience.

However, Metro UI aside, absolutely everything runs quite a bit faster on Windows 8 and the ram/cpu management is a lot better. It's also surprisingly stable for an OS that isn't even alpha yet, it hasn't locked up once yet although some metro apps seem to crash a lot.

There is a IE10 platform preview for Windows 7, its fast, but not quite as fast as it is on Windows 8.

How are you guys trying Windows 8 already? Has there been a beta release?

Not beta, a developer preview of Windows 8 which is basically a pre-alpha build.
