It is except in the US and Canadian marketplace according to that site. I'm going to download it with my Japanese account, hopefully it isn't like the Love Football demo limited to Japanese consoles.

I have been having it on download in about 2 hours or so and it is just on 30% and it sucks, but I guess its because there is alot of gamers downloading it right now.

Anyways, I had a quick download and played the two missions and..............no, this game is not going to do it for me. The graphics are alright, the environments are pretty empty as we've seen from screenshots. The mechs do look really nice. The explosions get old the time you see the second one, they are not as good as those in Lost Planet, not at all. Other than nice looking mechs, everything else looks pretty average.
The gameplay is just dull boring IMO. The two mechs I got to play with are really slow, and they get slower with more damage, and if you really get damaged you can barely move. I hate how you have to take care of this guys running around, they are extremely small and you have to kill everyone of them individually, and trust me, it's a pain.
The sound is REALLY weak. The music is boring and repetitive, the sound of explosions are weak, the guns sound cheap. I mean, for those huge guns you have such weak sounds? Come on.
The enemy AI is.........really bad. I don't even want to talk about it.
The demo doesn't let you modify the mech which is probably the best the game has to offer, so it is a pretty weak demo. The missions are short, and I'm afraid I won't be going back to it ever, so it's basically wasting space.
So yeah, I was very excited when the game was announced, but as videos started to come out I started to doubt, and now my suspicions were confirmed to be right.
I say bring Otogi 3 or even a sequel to that game Metal Wolf Chaos, the demo of this last one was way better than Chromehounds.

I personally think your expectations are too high, you seem to be disappointed by everything.
I really enjoyed the demo (much more so than Lost Planet) sure it doesn't have the graphical flare of LP but i think the gameplay is stronger and the objectives are much clearer.
Saying that i am comparing demo to demo which is not really a good idea.
I will probably rent this game just to see what the full version is like.
what i tried to tell you was:
Next time make a thread about a newly released demo with the title: "Insert game name" Demo discussion. This may make it more easily understood/read :)
i've changed the title for ya...
And my 2 cents about the demo:
I found it to be a short but ok demo. The gameplay was kinda dull to me and although the overal graphics where ok i found the gameplay to a tad "boring". Mech movement was slow but what do you expect (although i would've like a jump option with a possible jetpack but that's because i'm used to mech warrior :) )
And is it me or isn't there an aiming reticule in the screen? (except for the one on the top right in the little window)

There are much faster mechs in the game we just happened to be using the slower ones I think they did a good job overall.

It is very S..l..o..w. It started off ok, it then took me soo long to reach battles I got bored, fired off all my ammo in a fire fight, got lost searching for more, run out of fuel, switched off :/

Graphics weren't the killer of this game, design and implementation were. The lack of a HUD in 3rd person view and really did this one in. You can't zoom when sniping either, so its all or nothing basically. I'm so glad I got this demo. I know to steer clear of it now.

Now, those of us who didn't like the demo (and most likely the whole game) give good reasons for it, too slow, too slow, way too slow, troops on foot are a pain, graphics are nothing to be impressed of, can't zoom while sniping, too long without action, etc.
What about the people who liked it? Please explain Optimus and Jollipop, don't just say it's better than x game, it got a good review, i like it. Explain what makes it so exciting if you don't mind, 'cause those of us who didn't like the demo at all are very confused on what exactly makes this game/demo exciting.

Graphically I think it looks great, especially battling it out next to the river in the Soldier mission.
Graphically the game is nice I know the environments aren't the most detailed, but to me they are rather acceptable and in some places the graphics look great.
At times I thought hey maybe this or that might be too slow, but based on the speed the mechs should be moving at I can't really be disappointed its realistic. The mechs look amazing in my opinion amazingly well done. Its not the best implementation of this type of game and its by no means worthy of being a Triple A mech title, but watching some gameplay videos where the action gets more hectic later I can easily see how this game can be nice to pass the time. I wouldn't mind seeing this game on my huge HDTV to be honest. Then again.. I wont defend this game too hard its most definitly passable its not exactly a MUST BUY by any stroke of the imagination.
I'm not really going to defend this game too much because I undestand where most of you guys are coming from.. i'm just saying its maybe one of the games I might buy knowing it isn't all that nobody honestly expected this game to be a must have anyway. The way I look at it is this.. what can someone (that has something negative to say about it) say now or just found out recently after playing the demo that they couldn't already predict ahead of time? We saw gameplay vids, we saw numerous screenshots we already knew about this game's weakpoints.
If this was blue dragon then I'd go out of my way to defend it or even lost odyssey, but this game we all knew would be winning no awards for best mech game. So its a matter of will you buy it anyway for your entertainment or will you see this game as just more time to get done what you wanted to get done in ghost recon or elder scrolls before something worth purchasing comes out.
The gameplay videos on IGN are pretty cool, but even then there are many things you would have to turn the other cheek in regards to see this game in the best possible light.

i don't think you'll have that same optimistic aproach to the game after you played the demo (whoops forgot who i was talking 2 :D)
but seriously check out the demo and agree with ("most") of us :D This game is just 2 damn slow IMO :)

The mechs move slow, but the shooting is also slow. It takes about 2 hours to reload a sniper shot, BORING!!!
And graphics, the buildings come down in a more realistic manner in Mechassault, and just hitting the building with your mech causes damage to the building, Chromehounds does not bother to do this such detail, etc etc.

I basically start agreeing with you guys later on in my post.

LEBATO you should be firing and cycling your weaponry, not firing and waiting for a reload.
I know this was just a demo, and you can't expect everything, but what they showed gave me a bad first impression. It does however paint a picture, and given this game is a little only two weeks away, there's no hope for some alterations. The PIP FPS and 3rd person view is cool, but what about a reticle for when I'm in 3rd person? That's a given in shooters nowwadays. It'd be the equivalent of giving me PIP views of my teammates in GRAW, but making them invisible to me on the battlefield...
This definately isn't a buy for me. I'll rent it for the MP though. It would've been nice if they let you customize your Hound just a bit, to get a feel for it, and add some replay value to the demo, which in turn might motivate me to make a purchase.

My conclussion...
The game is kind of boring. The landscapes are crap, its only in huge landscapes. There isnt any big city mech battles. The Mechs are kind of slow, and the music is so damn boring, but though as a soundtrack and trailer music nut as I am I will just play up my favorites off my iPod. I didnt have the intention of buying it so, I didnt expect anything except cool graphics which it is like the smoke, kind of like Lost Planet which is a very good plus for it, but other than that, I will wait for Armored Core 4.
But I also think that the mech on the first mission looked cool, but with the customizeable parts it will most definetaly look cooler when I choose the part. Plus I thought that the demo was having some sort of a multiplayer mode.

It's SUPPOSED to be slow !
These machines are big assed they ain't guna move around fast.
I already said I liked the gameplay and i thought the objects where clear and weren't confusing.
Like Slabs said the whole point of this game is to use different armour units for different effects. (ie fast wheel based mech with weak fire power and slow heavy armoured units with strong fire power)
Also the whole point of a sniper is to zoom in from a distance and pick your enemies off. (why would you need to aim outside of zoom) ?
Um Optimus i find it strange that you say good things yet haven't downloaded/experienced the demo yet... (not that i'm surprised)
I haven't played this demo as I wasn't planning to, but if this has the same kind of *oversee what you're doing* approach that Mechwarrior 2 had, I'm actually very interested.

Nothing to see here..graphics are decent..but I'm with Lebato mostly--this game is a pile. And I like Mech sims--but this is not a good one. (atleast not from what they've shown us in the demo). Perhaps From should stick to the Mech's they seem to know best--something more akin to Metal Wolf Chaos seems to be more up their alley so to speak.
The game lacks intensity, challenge, and uh...fun.
Plus it will look incredible on my HDTV. I really like the mech designs.
