Summary:
Resistance is an exciting action game that successfully combines many of the best qualities from other great first-person shooters with its own spectacular visuals and a few novel twists.
The Good: Rock-solid design borrows the best aspects from the best first-person shooters; outstanding presentation, featuring great weapons and believable environments; replayable campaign pits you against an aggressive, fairly intelligent foe; fully featured multiplayer mode offers good variety and supports up to 40 players.
The Bad: Derivative visual style and gameplay is well crafted but mostly unoriginal; the campaign's story and characters aren't well developed; two-player cooperative mode isn't available online.
Oh and 9/10 on graphics... not bad for a launch title. Sounds like a good solid launch title for the PS3. Innovative no... Very good yes... Halo Killer... No way!
I did find this interesting...
Resistance's online multiplayer interface lets you easily find ranked or custom, unranked matches. It also includes support for setting up competitive clans, a "party" system for seeking out online matches together with your friends, and a "buddy" system for keeping track of which of your friends are online. You'll also rank up and earn special insignias based on your multiplayer accomplishments
Why oh why MS aren't you pushing for clan support in LIVE titles and using Halo2's party system?
we will never know MicroSoft works in strange ways, they make a great game like voodoo then let it vanish :( how i miss you vince :(

You're right though, in the end, it will be fine.
8.6 is a great score..GS is just being a tad bit more realistic than some people.
It might be the ps3's cod2 for launch.

It helps you sleep well at night.
Take one 360, add some chopped PS3, stir in some Wii, a sprinkling of DS Lite. Enjoy :)

BOYCOT EA!!!!
8.6?
Well if that really means a "great game" then 360 has plenty of great games out there, but sonyfanboys has trashed 360 for all those kind of games that came below 90%.
Sakagauchi-san is the best developer! :)
Lost odyssey is my most wanted game.

Don't really know what to make of this..?

Sure, half of it looks covered in slime, but some levels still work as a showcase for next gen fancyness, especially the rooftops level. It also had online co-op, tons of paths through levels, a bunch of multiplayer modes, and it's frankly quite lengthy too, without resorting to copy/paste level design. It got lots of flak for looking downright weird in places, and suffice to say a lot of people didn't take to the art direction at all, but that's hardly reason enough to keep ripping into it still.
Oh and solo play is out of the question of course, what with its babysitter approach to just about everything.

And I personally don't think that's the case at all, and that's not the imrpession I got from any other review(ers) out there...

I saw Casino Royale this week and thought it was awesome. It does some different things to previous Bond films, but none of these haven't been done before in other action films. Is that a lesser film because it's not "innovating"? Don't think so.
Also I concur with Simon on PDZ, I would play more co-op on that if I had friends who still had it and there wasn't a big pile of other stuff to play through. VP arrived today, NO MORE games for me till Lost Planet!
And one last point on Resistance that I think will be interesting in the long term. I'm keen to see how good (as in technically/lag good) the online is as more and more people get on it. The P2P approach Halo takes certainly scales well, but it can lead to a fair amount of laggy games, cheating and manipulation of connections.
If Resistance as the population ramps up delivers a more consistent experience (as it runs on servers) then I hope that prompts MS to look at things. We're paying for Live, we should get the better QoS. It will be a difficult comparison as I wouldn't expect the Resistance population to get anywhere near Halo 2's, but I'll be watching it for sure.
