Everyonewas eagerly waiting for the PlayStation Pro update for Gran Turismo 7 and it's now available. It gives access to two graphics modes, including one that adds ray tracing during gameplay, all at 60 fps (or more if you have the proper screen). After a few tests, we still find that the image quality is somewhat degraded in this mode, especially when compared to the one that favors performance, which can reach 120 frames per second. It's up to you to decide whether the few added reflections - that are actually difficult to catch during the race - are worth it or not. The patch also improves the rendering of the game on PSVR2, but since we haven't had time to try it, we can't tell you about it for the moment.
Update: Second video added (two races in the rain with RT).

If you're old enough to have known the golden age of the point and click genre and to play some (or all) of the LucasArts games of the 80s and 90s, you're in for a nice treat with Loco Motive. The game is now available on PC and Nintendo Switch and it's a joy to play on a handheld device, Steam Deck included. Pixel art looks awesome, voice acting and music are top-notch, humor too, and last but not least, the atmosphere is also spot-on. All this combined makes for a very engaging title to play for fans of the genre and we can only advise you to try the demo if you don't want to take our word for it.

After a tense encounter at sea, young adventurer Adol Christin and pirate Karja Balta find themselves bound by fate and the mysterious power of Mana. As they search for a way to break the mystical bonds that bind them, they find themselves caught up in a conflict. Ys X: Nordics is now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC and Switch. Here's our video of the first 40 minutes of the game on Nintendo's console.

The Callisto Protocol was not perfect but it was a pretty effective survival horror game that was just a little too short and somehow frustrating because of its combat system against multiple enemies. That said, the game looked really good, especially in Fidelity mode with the Ray Tracing effects. If you wanted to enjoy smoother frame rates, you had to drop RT and go for the Performance mode, but now, thanks to the PS5 Pro update, it's possible to enjoy 4K/60 and RT all in one package. It's probably not actual 4K as there is also a 4K/40fps mode for VRR displays, but image quality seems excellent from what we've seen - and so is frame rate. There's even a 8K/30 mode which can even be selected on a 4K display, with downsampling in action for those not wealthy enough to afford an 8K screen.

GSY Video PS5 Xbox Series X

Nine years after its release, Assassin's Creed Syndicate is returning on PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S with a free update that allows the 2015 game to run at 60 frames per second. The result isn't perfect, as the frame rate didn't seem flawless to us on PS5 Pro, but it's a nice move by Ubisoft, which has already updates older games in the series to run at higher frame rates. Let's hope that Unity will one day get the same treatment because it's clearly a game that deserves it as it had top-notch lighting when it came out. As for Syndicate, it sure didn't manage to live up to the same visual standards a few years later, but it's still an old-school Assassin's Creed that we enjoyed back then. Beware though, the game clearly shows its age at 4K on PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X. Draw distances are pretty limited compared to what we can see in open world games today, pop-in and aliasing issues are also hard to miss, which proves that we've come a long way since then.

Kayak VR: Mirage is one of the very few VR games to have received a Pro update and we finally found a bit of time to give it a try. Image quality indeed seems to have been improved overall, which makes the experience even more immersive as before. Since we had never tried the DLC added something like five months ago, we discovered how beautiful Slovenia is and we did not regret our time with the game. What is great about this new map is that there's a section with rapids, which is a nice change from the slower pace of the rest of the game. With GT7's Pro update which should be available on Thursday, it's the perfect week to bring back your PSVR2 to life.

Mare was originally released in January 2021 on Oculus Quest and Quest 2 before being ported to other VR devices, but its arrival on PlayStation VR2 came as a nice surprise to all those who love games inspired by Fumito Ueda's work. In this new title for Sony's headset, you must escort a little girl through mysterious ruins, tell her where to go by interacting with the scenery and protect her from any potential danger. The game is very immersive and it looks beautiful. Not only that, but image quality is pretty sharp which, with the addition of the PSvR2 specific features, proves that a lot of effort was put into this new version. The adventure is rather short if you don't try to find all the collectibles that unlock a secret ending (and more game time), but for $24.99/€24.99, two to three hours does not seem exaggerated for a VR game.

Considering that Activision is now owned by Microsoft, we were pretty curious to see what the PS5 Pro patch for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 would bring to the table. Although it is said to enhance a few graphical settings in Quality mode (that you get when toggling off the 120 Hertz mode), it does not really show that much when comparing the game in normal play, even in terms of image quality. What can be seen though is the white flicker that plagues the Pro version in the 60 Hertz mode while it's almost completely absent on the base model. It's a very odd situation for sure, but it must be some kind of bug that will hopefully be fixed soon. Some might think it is due to PSSR, but others say it was apparently already there before the Pro patch went live. Moreover, it does not seem to look like any of the PSSR issues we've seen so far. That said, since it doesn't seem to appear in the 120 fps mode, which apparently does not use PSSR, we can still wonder. On the bright side, Quality mode can run above 60 fps if your display is VRR compatible, and activating the 120 Hertz mode allows for some even smoother gameplay experience with the same image quality as the base PS5.

Empire of the Ants, No Man's Sky and Albatroz are on our PlayStation 5 Pro menu today and we've even added a base PS5 video of the latter so you can compare (the stutters and drops are sadly still there on Pro and they make it more difficult to enjoy the game). Since we somehow managed to forget to include Dragon Age: The Veilguard to our EA video, you'll also find some gameplay footage of the enhanced version inside. Though we still have a bunch of titles which were supposed to be PS5 pro enhanced in time for launch, we don't think they have yet and will wait until the updates are available to cover them.

Today, we're taking a look at Hogwarts Legacy, NBA 2K25 and Baldur's Gate III on PlayStation 5 Pro. We also captured some Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 footage, though they have not been specifically enhanced for Pro. Since they're now playable pretty smoothly with ray tracing thanks to the GP extra power, we figured they were worth a look. Technically, there are still occasional drops in the 50s, but if you won a VRR display, you won't even notice.More enhanced PS5 Pro titles to come on Gamersyde as we intend to give you the most thorough coverage we can, so hang in there. You should know that some games are still waiting for their Pro update so you won't be seeing Black Ops 6, Diablo IV, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown or Silent Hill 2 before the updates are officially live.
