I dont get it...why is EVERYONE keep saying MGS and Splinter Cell all the time. If more than 100 people says it is MGS meets Splinter cell in a vampire world then I think everyone gets that. Besides, just because Sam Fisher uses a stealth combat suite in his infiltrations doesnt mean anyone else can do it.
If you make a stealth game then I dont think you want move slowley and not being seen in a regular army clothes.
I think its pathetic that people keep comparing these kind of stuff seriously.

About Vampires Rain...well I thought actually it would be better, but its not THAT good as I thought it would be.

Sath, it's just because when people think of the stealth genre, those are the first games that come to mind. It's a crime, really, since Thief pretty much invented the genre and has consistantly done it better than anyone else.

I think jut because SC and MGS wasent so popular in that genre I dont think they would compare it to them this quickly, but it is I dont really care anyway as long as games get good I dont care.
Its like Dark Sector that I am waiting for as hell, and I am comparing it to RE4 because of the camera view and its virus infected story.

It mimics Splinter Cell in more ways than just the suit though, not that its a bad thing of course.

Multiplayer looks laughably bad though.

Sath have you watched the video?? most of the animations hell even the sound when the he switches goggles is very similar to SC, hence my SC comparison, geezzz....

Well I definitely see the Splinter Cell influence, with a splash of Crysis(Jumping) and other influences. Not a lot of what I'd call typical Vampire fair, though. Looks somewhat promising.

Sath dont take it too seriously. I must agree with people comparing it particularly to splinter cell, It's just WAY TOO similar to SC which isnt the case when you compare MGS and SC ... they both have managed to keep a sort of personality in a way and remained distinct even though they are of the same genre. Something that this game hasnt going for it Im afraid!

DC yeah I have seen the video, but all the goggles that includes night vision and thermal vision make that sound, its even in Hellgate London for god sakes. Although I do have to give agree on the fact that this one sounds exactly like Sam Fishers.
I am not gonna buy Vampires Rain because I know that the game wont be something I would enjoy more than 2 days.

why not compare them to tenchu ? that was stealth and out before MGS on the ps1and splint on xbox.

why do people keep refering to splint and MGS as if they are the fathers of that genre, the most succesfull yes, but not the fathers. i think spy vs spy was lol.

Well you basically answered your question. These two are the most popular because they are the ones that succeded commercially .... a very bad quality of the gaming market unfortunately (Of course both SC and MGS DO deserve the success but other great games get lost in the way, Thief as Grift mentioned being a perfect example)

Thief deserves a lot of credit for basically founding the genre, and doing it best (imo). Even Thief 3, while perhaps not as solid as the original two entries in the series, is better than any Splinter Cell game out there. Great games.

I loved Thief Deadly Shadows but it's a shame how Eidos has completely abandoned the series along with Deus EX and Legacy of Kain but let's not go off topic.

soul reavers and kain games are wonderfull :D deus ex was overated in my opinion but still great, thief was very refreshing fully enjoyed it

tenchu was brilliant in its time, the new one though still looks like the very first :( but has ment to have good solid play.

as for this game "vampire rain" i am not sold, this genre has been milked to death, please try something new, TAKE A RISK! the game will most possibly go down faster than a 5$ hooker, so why not go down with style rather than dullness.

Blue Dragon is an unimaginative JRPG featuring a myriad of JRPG cliches and very redundant looking characters. To even call this game "original" in any way is an insult to every great JRPG made.......all 4 of 'em......
