The commentary is sorta ridiculous. Cool feature, I think, for replays and such but I would never leave that on during gameplay. Love it though, can't wait for Feb. 20th. Crackdowns dirty marketing trick (Halo 3) is the only thing making me question what to buy on that day..we'll see how that works out.
Sadly, all this backstory continues to be lost from any prominent mention as you play through the game's various modes, requiring you to read about it, which is a shame.
Previews comments on the games story are also sorta ridiculous. Fighting game stories are just backdrops for the otherwise much more important gameplay..so big deal.

Hopefully they add some VF.tv features to the 360 version of the game. I don't expect online play but some online integration would be nice, the arcade version even has it. Still buying both.

The commentary is truly awful, there better be an option to turn it off

They probably do. But hey, at least its better than the Japanese Commentary. I swear if you ever watch a Japanese tourny of VF, it sounds like the guy is going to have a heart attack at any second :P

Sigh I wish I had a PS3 so I could buy this next month, lame :(

It's an option you can toggle on/off from a menu, I believe. I think it's an interesting concept, would make fights easier to follow/understand for people who are new the franchise..unfortunately even the best sports game commentary becomes dry and repetitive after a while.

Hey look at the bright side Kenshin, Sega is saving you money, since you'd want both versions anyway. I'll definitly try to pick this up on Feb. 20th if I can manage, it's between that and Crackdown for now.

Too many damn games, I still want to pick up Ridge Racer 7 and Lost Planet, but Feb. and March have a lot of content too.

All signs have pointed to August so far, but that's not official as far as I know.

RR7 is not exactly the same game as RR6, there's enough different there to warrant the purchase I think. I still need to pick up RR6, I rented it ages ago and would like to have it in my collection, even though I'll probably never play it now that RR7 is out. I realise that the game is very simular to RR6, but you're also talking to someone who is planning on buying VF5 on both platforms and they're literally the saame game. Plus RR7 probably has a more active online community than RR6 does at this point, and I'll admit that I also just want some more games for my PS3.

I'll get both Lost Planet and RR7 eventually, they're not in direct competition with eachother..they're both getting pushed aside by Crackdown and Virtua Fighter.

ahh, i was going under the assumption that you "had" rr6 for the 360, my bad ;)

Nope, though I've played it a bit. Also have played both Ridge Racers 1 and 2 on the PSP and they're both awfully simular too. Didn't get around to playing as much of RR6 as I would have liked, and ended up only renting it briefly because I was still currently wrapped up in Battlefield 2 competition, which ate up shitloads of time.

RR6 is still the best argument against picking up RR7 though, since it's a much cheaper buy. On the otherhand, RR7 is the "definitive version" if you will. I don't doubt that RR7 is more of a rehash than a yearly Tom Clancy release, but I still would like to have both. I like the series and I like arcade games.

It's also the only thing Namco has done thus far this generation (not counting Tekken DR which is damn sweet for a DLC game, but it..just doesn't count) that's worth a damn. This will change shortly, but their quality is all over the place, especially if you consider everything under the Namco Bandai label. I have faith that their core internal teams will pump out some quality products though. Trusty Bell is a good example of things looking up for them.

Depends what the movie is encoded in and what bitrate it's it.

How many audio tracks it has, what bitrate those are in,whether it is using DD+ or DTS-HD.

So many factors will change the final image quality and amount of room used for the movie, including extra's.
