I remember before the demo, it was like get this game just for the Halo 3 beta. But now, even though one of the reasons I'm buying it is due to the Halo 3 beta, I still would purchase it now even if it didn't come with it. I still play the hell out of the demo. Feb 20th will be a good day :P

Blue Dragon is an unimaginative JRPG featuring a myriad of JRPG cliches and very redundant looking characters. To even call this game "original" in any way is an insult to every great JRPG made.......all 4 of 'em......

WTF? Crazy fools, no wonder I stopped subscribing to that thing long ago.

Edit: Here's what they say.

+Leaping around the city is hoot.
+Drop in anytime co-op is a great way to play.
- Repetition, lack of side missions.

I just knew it. Like Deft said, this game is being judged for what it's not trying to be. This guys are trying to compare it to GTA even though they don't share a lot. If there were absolutely no missions, the game would still be worth a 7 from me.

This is exactly how I felt about games like Lost Planet and Viva Pinata and Dead Rising and Saints Row and Test Drive Unlimited and Prey and Battlestations: Midway.

These games are getting slammed in their reviews, but the demos are kicking ass and the final games are just as good, if not better in most cases than the demo. I honestly do not know WTF these game reviewers are smoking these days, but I'm sure glad as hell I'm not drinking any of that Kool-Aid.

These bitches are crazy. Pure and simple, Crackdown kicks more ass by 7am, than most other games do all year. To give it such a lame review score is . . .

Well the one good thing about downloadable demos and community-based gaming, is that game reviewers can no longer get away with shoddy reviews. Used to be that if you wanted to check if a game was good or bad for yourself, you'd have to spend some money. But demos are free and readily available. And most demos are getting to the point where you can determine if a game is worth a purchase or not without the need of a shoddy game review.

I'd say the chances a demo turns into sales are greater than a demo turning into low sales, and every developer should take the chance.

Lost Planet is the poster child for demos, IMO. No doubt is has made Capcom a true believer. The game sold over a million copies on pre-orders alone because of the the strength of the two demos that were put out for it. Making Lost Planet the fastest selling game on Xbox 360; not to mention an instant million seller. Not even the mighty Gears of War can lay claim to those titles.

Proper demos are where it is at, and like you said, every developer/publisher should work them into the development schedule to insure a quality demo makes it to Marketplace weeks before the final game.

And yeah, Crackdown is so mine come the 20th.

I wish I could see what you see in VF5, but I can't. I don't even know what PS3 game I'm getting in the next 12 months.

It's a damn shame, but to each their own. For what it's worth, it's one of very few PS3 games I'm getting any time soon :/ I would like to pick up Motorstorm in March as well, and maybe F1CE. After that, it's more or less a wait on Heavenly Sword and Sigma for me.

If VF5 had online, I'd be more tempted to check it out. I have no interest in fighting bots. And as sad as it is, my friends give up playing me in fighters because I kick their ass. Me .

I don't have that many friends that will offer up that much of a challenge to me in VF either, so I agree that it's a shame it can't be online. Lag would total VF's gameplay though, so I understand their concern too. Still, it has the best bots in a fighting game ever, best single player mode even..if you kick all of your friends asses, the CPU will probably offer up more of a challenge anyway. It's actually pretty compelling, reaching Champion rank in Quest mode is pretty challenging and if you reach that level you're pretty much sure to know the game pretty damn well by then.
