So this crossed my mind...Namcos game "Breakdown".
I do not know if any of you know this game, but it is the first-person game, and for some reason people are comparing it to Chronicles of Riddick Escape from Butchers Bay.
Now I have been wishing to buy this game for a very long time now...like 2 years but I never intended to pick this up, now that my 360 is screwed and have to go to service, I was thinking of picking this game. It is cheap and it looks very good for an Xbox game and it saves me a lot of money too.
Now for those that do not know it, I can post links of images, and trailers, and the game looks absolutely intense.

This game seems to be VERY underrated for some reason, but seeing this makes me go and buy it and that is what I am gonna do as soon as I get out.
I just wonder if a next-gen version of this would be, seriously, it would look amazing I can already tell.
If they did with old games like Turok or Area 51, I hope Namco does it with Breakdown.
And knowing it is exclusive for Xbox it could be awesome for 360.
Anyway, if anyone who have played it tell me what you guys think.

The hand to hand combat can get messy, not done as nicely as Riddick. Well, controls overall are a problem. Shooting feels very limited because of auto-aim, especially when you can't shoot some guys but fight them with your fists.
Graphics are alright, not close to Halo 2 for example. Environments can get very repetitive, and there are only a few wow moments. You can drive a jeep/hummer (I can't remember) in later levels but it feels really cheap.
Should you get it? If you think it looks very cool, and you can get it for $10 or less, yes, get it. The story is good enough to keep you playing, at least it was for me. There are also some very cool moments when you see the cat.
Where the crap is Shenmue 3 SEGA? Scrap that thing called Shenmue online and finish the Shenmue epic story on 360!
I made that thread absolute ages ago and did a write up on a couple of games really worth checking out. (Lots that aren't obvious)
The short version; I really tried to like Breakdown, but ultimately.. well I nearly had one myself.

Well I know, but those that have it somewhat really likes it.
I heard that the controls can be weird but it takes time to get adjusted.
But yeah knowing that the game is very old now...2003 and it is an Xbox game, it has to be very cheap.
I am gonna get this, looks cool.

Sometimes you are just walking in--one more--corridor and this cat comes out of nowhere and he shines! I just think it's cool because he comes out of nowhere, sometimes things happen right after seeing it that change the game somewhat. There's a part where you end up in a desert like Simon said in his ~review, right after seeing the cat.

Well knowing it is cheap I am buying it, for sure.
I dont mind corridor after the other, because I am sued to it, because of Condmned.

I set my expectations especially low going into Breakdown - the subject of almost non-exceptional criticism and right ripping - but somehow managed to be severely untertained (it's entertained, only not!) nonetheless.
The reality is that despite the utterly few things Breakdown does get right, the ultra sameyness of the environments, the frustration of combat, the daftness of enemies and the lack of anything remotely appealing, gameplay wise, just bogs the entire thing down from already-low-heights to something completely un-recommendable.
If there's one thing that actually works here it's the combos. They're quite clearly rooted in something like Final Fight or Streets of Rage, and pulling them off occasionally does result in a similar thrill. However, the first person perspective just adds countless layers of confusion, disorientation and frustration, and even if you do land a successful combo you can be sure there's some other twat already charging towards your back.
The whole thing descends into a random making-sure-everyone's-in-front-of-you-and-doesn't-fire-lasers mash-fest, and breaking up that action is endless running through corridors, drinking 'juice', which clearly tries to be mistaken for Coca Cola. With all that first person drinking going on, I'm surprised he never has to pee. Maybe the title refers to kidney failure.
The story has its moments.. Feeble ones and far between, but the cutscenes are certainly the highlight. Played in the first person viewpoint and in realtime most of the time just like Half Life 2, stuff feels like it's really happening. There's some crazy scenes when the main character recalls stuff from his past and goes on Eternal Darkness like LSD trips. They're occasionally quite brilliant, actually, and certainly worthy of some praise, but it's a shame the the shoddyness of the gameplay actually has you weighing their worth against one another, and ultimately sort of... don't blooming care.
So yeah, despite my best efforts (as the excercise partly is, in this thread) I couldn't find gold digging into this turd, and I can't really recommend it even if someone throws it at you.

Of how stylish this game looks, I really want to know how it would look like in next-gen, I bet it would look awesome.

One thing that attracted me most was the 1st person mechanics.
If you picked up a can of coke for health, you'd see "yourself" drinking that cola just like you'd see it in real life, if you picked up a gun, idem dito.
But, that's where the game flawed aswell imo, at some point it becomes so annoying and so slow paced, it really kills the experience.
The game turned out to be ok-ish, as far as I've played it, because at some point I was so bored with the game, I gave up...

I am looking more and more at the trailers and I can't wait to play it.
I have searched on google and for some stupid reason Breakdown is not BC on the 360, I have no idea why Ms isnt doing it. They add so much crap on their list, but yet Chronicles of Riddick or Breakdown isnt in there, would be sooo awesome to play this on 720p on the 360.
Is there any way to make the image much better playing Xbox on a HDTV?
I played NG Black and it looks almost out-colored and too blurry, my eyes literally started to hurt after some time.

It seems very promising at first, but when you play through it for a while, it starts to get repetitive and annoying.
Also, it's nothing compared to Riddick, Riddick completely destroys this game...
But, don't let that put you off, if you can get it for a few bucks it might be worth it...

I'm with Jato, you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

The bad thing is that you cant rent games here, unless its VERY old like Halo one or something. I dont know, have to think about it.
Any other game to recommend then? Good ones obviously. Black is short according to some people, KOTOR 1/2 I have owned both of them, but never finished them because I was never into RPG back then.
I owned KOTOR 1 on Xbox and 2 on PC, with low and medium settings and with bad laggings.
Any other?

You can have it, honestly. I won't touch it again ever.

I don't think it did all that great in the reviews but I definitely enjoyed it.
Infact, that game did the exact opposite of what Breakdown did to me.
It started of very un-appealing, but I got the game so I decided to give it a decent try anyway.
And though it has plenty to complain about, somehow I got into it more an more as I progressed in the game and looking back I acually enjoyed it quite a bit.
Here's IGN's take on it, which kind reflects my thoughts on this game:
"Headhunter is a strangely appealing, almost broken mess of a game. It has a very specific kind of action that's different and charming. But this has also allowed the developers to create a new set of control and camera issues future developers will have to contend with. It hits, it misses, it hits, and then it misses again.
Despite all the problems, it's still a game worth looking into and not for its unending string of puzzles and fetch quests and mini-games, nor for its atrocious dialogue or its rather ridiculous story, but because it offers a very specific kind of action that isn't too bad when taken in moderation and looked at objectively."

Why wont you just trade it in, maybe for 50 kr hehe. EBGames have one of those trade in 2 games and by one new game for lower price.
Jato - Yeah I checked Headhunter long time ago...didnt like it.
I gotta check some of the list on Gamspot for Xbox and check trailers out on GT.

I'm swedish too, which is why I reckoned it'd be an easy fix to just chuck it in the post.
I'm off to bed with Phoenix Wright 2 now though, so I'll sort the details with you tomorrow.

Another great under-appreciated game is Oddworld Strangers Wrath.
Now that is one hell of a fun game..!
