LucasArts If you sense a great disturbance in the force, then you've come to the right place. It's been months since we've picked up any info for Star Wars: Force Unleashed which is still under development at LucasArts, and this time, we find more details for this upcoming title. Read on for the list.
The game time-line takes place between episode Star Wars Episode III and IV, with Darth Vader now training an apprentice he plots to use to destroy the Emperor. The player takes on the role of this said apprentice.
As an apprentice, your task under Vader will be partly to help hunt down the remaining Jedi in the Galaxy - expect appearances from famed Jedi Masters like Shaak Ti.
Force abilities are going to get some major balancing work. i.e. The "Repulsion" force ability take a few seconds to charge up, whereas the ever-famous "Force Push" gets a faster charge time.
Rancors are in the game. And yes - they can eat you like they did that poor Gamorrean guard in Return of the Jedi.
Vader is a playable character.
There's a multiplayer mode on the works
The game is set for a US release this November 2007.

This game will account for the twenty years in between Epsiode III and Episode IV. What I really like about the preview is expands on the Vader's words in Empire Strikes Back, when he tells Luke he can become more powerful than the Emperor and overthrow him. The dev team is saying Vader finally came to realize that the Emperor had tricked him into turning towards the dark side, but he knows it's to late to go back, so the only thing he can do is destroy the Emperor with another apprentice. You.
The game will be using Euphoria engine and DMM. DMM is an engine where everything in the game has it's on properties. For instance, if you were to force push a Stormtrooper into a tree, you might break it in half, or splinter it. If it were a steel wall it would be a dent. What this engine does is instead of devs having to program and animate diffrenet states of damage, the game it self calculates it in realtime. Enough about the tech aspect lets get onto the game itself.
"This game is about kicking someonw's ass with the force"
-HADEN BLACKMAN, Project Lead.
After reading those word, I jizzed myself. You start off as a skilled Sith with the majority of powers at your disposal, from Push to Lighting. Throughout the game your powers can and will evolve to legendary strength, moreso than the Emperor himself. Force powers in this game are going to be over the top. When you force push somebody, it's going to like a cannonball hit them in the gut. And has to Force Usage, yes there will be a bar, but it will constantly regenarate, make some powers have unlimited uses such as Push, but more advanced ones such as Repulsion will take a couple of seconds to recharge. The control scheme will be akin to Psi Ops, and if you played that game you should be smiling at those words.
The game's story will center on the aprrentice, as he hunt's down the remainder of the jedi and grows more powerful under Vader. One example of fight is against Shaak Ti, she will have several rancors under her control, get ready, this when the fun begins, in order to make it easier to take down Ti, you can get eaten by a Rancor, but seeing as they don't chew well, you will be able to use force powers to rip the rancor apart from the inside out. Damn, I just jizzed myself again. There will also be a dark/light side struggle in this game like KOTOR, however since this game is going to have be the official story of what happened in between the two movies, the endings will have to be set in stone, although the devs have stated that doesn't mean there won't be alternate endings. In fact, they confirm them.
As to being able to play as the Dark Lord him self, the devs say there is a prominent role for Vader, which is leaning towards him being playable. As for multiplayer, it is confirmed and they are on the earlier stages of it, they wanted to focus on the story, seeing as it's aiming to be deep story, but rest assured that on day one I'll be pwning you *****es with my force prowness on LIVE. . This game is looking to be a combination of Ninja Gaiden, God of War, The Matrix, 300, and StarWars. And I jizzed myself yet again, with no tissues in sight.

Maybe its my own fault for having my standards too high for the final installment. I left with a frown :(
At least it was better than the Crap that was Episode II. I was still kind of young when I saw episode I, so I enjoyed it pretty much. Well not that jackass Jar Jar

I mean, you didn't enjoy watching Yoda kick some goddamn ass? Do you have a heart of stone? The battle (Obi-wan Vs. Vader) was obviously the movies high point though, and worth trying to forget about how bad some other parts were, in my opinion. :P
I remember doing the loud NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! cry after I walked out the movies. Was a sad day, completely ruined my last day of school my senior year.

Anyway, I am excited about this game. That art will likely end up in my sig at some point.
I wouldn't be too worried about the apprentice thing, grift, as the details will likely be explained when you play the game.
I too, liked the third movie. I try not to say that often for fear of lynch mobs.
"It is such a quiet thing, to fall. But far more terrible is to admit it." ~ Kreia in Kotor2
But thanks for the clarification on what he actually did on those titles. Still the story will be last concern really, but the setup does sound concerning. Hopefully like you said, more details will make things clearer.
