I just purchased it for $9.99 on EB Games so I was wondering how good the backwards compatability is.

Does it offer better or worse performance/visuals than if I was running on the Xbox?

I'm surprised I didn't buy it sooner. Bioware + I'm a star wars fanatic... what the hell was I waiting for?

First 10 minutes was horrible and i almost took it back. But once you get used to the gameplay mechanics and get into the story, you'll be hooked. amazing game. never bothered with KOTOR 2 tho.

It's got a touch more slowdown than on Xbox, but it's not a very fast paced game anyway so it's not a huge deal.

I bought it and it didn't last 1 hour in my original Xbox, before I took it back.
I've owned X-wing vs. Tie Fighter, Dark Forces, Jedi Knight, Both Battlefronts, and this Star Wars game didn't do it for me in the least. Turn based combat... not for me in a Star Wars Game. I like the PC Baldur's Gate, and NeverWinters Night, but not this. Just not my thing... and no you can be a Star Wars fan and not like KOTOR.

You went to that clear out sale too huh? I got Forza, Soul Calibur 2, and FF11 for about $15 all together :P

it plays fine on the 360, but be warned your life will be consumed by it for the next few months ;)

few months? No way, my life was only consumed for 39 days 46 hours 240 minutes and 2 seconds, obviously the game didn't live up to the hype then. Tsk Tsk, Bioware :P

My favorite game of all time. Anyway, I haven't played it on 360 but kotor 2 works fine on it (the music stpos sometimes but that's it).

I can see Optimus come in here with a thread like the one about MGS, and call KOTOR one of the most amazing games ever, lol.

What other high profile have you not played Optimus? Riddick? You need to play that. Have you played Halo?

No actually, you can't be a serious Star Wars fan and not like KOTOR. Star Wars isn't all about lightsaber battles, lasers, and starships, that could be in any sci-fi world. What seperates Star Wars is the depth to which the universe has been built. KOTOR, although starting out as just another game, has since become recognised as official Star Wars knowledge and an important part of the expanded universe. The KOTOR storyline was filled with depth and complex characters, and in the ended completely trounced the recent trilogy. The fact that you only played KOTOR for 1 hour is proof that you didn't give the game a chance, a situation which occurs often with many of the general public. Some of the best games take a while to get into, and since KOTOR is 40+ hours long game, 1 hour really can't prove anything.

Anyways, KOTOR is one of my favourite games of all time. It is only beaten out by Grim Fandango. Although it is a bit bland at first, the game picks up and doesn't let go one you leave the first world. You'll become attached to the characters and find one of the most enjoyable parts is exploring the storyline behind each of your companions, although it is optional. The combat becomes much more interesting as force powers and lightsabers are implemented and there are many puzzles along the way to make you think. The performance on the 360 is slightly slower than the Xbox but with a game like this, it isn't really noticeable. My biggest issue was the sound problem associated with the emulation which can clip at random times. All in all, it is definetely worth it. I'm sure once you are finished you will want to pick up KOTOR 2 (which is also amazing but slightly lacking due to a 1 year development time) and Jade Empire. They are all (at the very least KOTOR) just as essential to the Xbox as Halo and Ninja Gaiden.

I didn't play and beat Halo until 2006 :) Before that I only tried it for 10 minutes tops.

Incredible stuff. I made that thread about metal gear 2 because I was stupid enough to listen to the opinions of others who said it wasn't good and avoided it for years. So after playing it I'll stand by my opinion that its one of the best games ever made :)

Kotor who knows if its as good as people say then I likely will make a thread about how amazing it is once I see for myself. I agree with Jerome bigtime there first time I played ff7 I was disgusted with what I was playing and took it out immediately. Kept hearing more and more about how incredible it was so I finally caved and decided to rent it and give it a real shot this time and to me its now the best game ever made. So its very possible for someone to dump a game too soon before they realize how big a mistake they are making.
