I like the placement of the camera on the hood--wish Forza's hood cam looked sorta like that. I like the look better when the camera is mounted further back towards the windshield.

not really, there is to much hood in the camera which could be distacting; forza2 is on the good spot imo

I'm inclined to disagree. If you think that is distracting, you must hate cockpit cameras. If you want a purely first person cam, use the bumper.

no, a bumper view is too low for a good view, specially on wide tracks, and yes i dont like cockpits as they take 1/3 of the picture away, in fact i see interiors as windows dressing (completely unimportant for effective driving)

50fps? HDTVs are 60Hz also in PAL. Strange. I'd rather have 30fps with v-sync.

Was not an issue with bumper cams in 4:3 and is definitely not an issue in 16:9. Bumper, hood, and cockpit are all 10x better than third person views, at least.

I didnt say i use third person view, just that bumper is placed slightly low for good overview of the wide tracks. I use bumper camera in F1 and will use hood camera in F2.

I'm just saying that I don't think that seeing more of the hood is at all distracting--I don't find the cockpit view to be very difficult to handle either. It may not be important for effective driving, but I don't think it makes effective driving any more difficult really, and it adds to immersion, which is something I personally like in video games. They could just have two seperate settings and make both of us happy, hoodcam near and hoodcam far, that wouldn't be a very hard option to implement.

I find that most racing games are lacking options for controlling the camera, they should have a bunch of positions that you can chose from. Let the player decide what he's most comfortable with.

PGR had a completely free adjustment system that let you lower and raise.. zoom and zoom out. Pretty neat.

Of course it was still impossible to get a really good view, but still, the idea and effort was appreciated.

I'm a bit annoyed that there's no middle ground these days for when you wanna use a steering wheel. Most games have their out of car view and their bumper view and neither of them really feel like you're in the car at all. Strapped to the bumper more like.

I guess I've gotten used to being strapped to the bumper or the hood. You're right though, it does not feel like you're in the car at all. I prefer the hood cam as it's a bit closer to that experience. I think a hood camera is a good compromise between the obstructed vision of a cockpit camera and the tip of the car bumper camera. That said I love the cockpit cameras too..though to be honest I think I'm a bit better at PGR when I'm on the bumper. Pretty close though, and I love the immersive feeling of being in the drivers seat.

Dirt looks pretty good. I hope that between Sega Rally Revo and this, we get at least one great rally game and soon.

YES!!! I'm officially very excited to hear more about this game, and see it running!

Althought the screens clearly don't look like the first few doctored shots, the game seems to be incorporating all I'm missing from a new Rallisport game. Hillclimb, autocross, and traditional rally all in there.

Now, I see this game is going to include lots of different vehicles, something clearly borrowed from the TOCA series and that can either be a horrible mistake or a great success. I'm certainly hoping for the latter. I'm really hoping they have some acceptable physics accross the boards unlike in TOCA where some cars handle nicely while others are simply a joke.

In terms of graphics, I hope the ground deforms like in Motorstorm........from those shots it looks like they are using some sort of effect, but no actual deformation, wait and see I guess.

But man, in-car camera, many of the great events from Rallisport, lots of cars, awesome graphics, and reportedly great damage, and a June release :D Very nice I have to say. For the 100000th time, I really want to see this one running, gameplay!

It probably depends on what event you are doing. Like if you are doing time trial rally racing it would just be the time compare lobbies, but if you're in something like rally cross it would more than likely be an actual race and have a smaller set limit of players allowed in the lobby.

Yeah, this could well make up for that huge gap Forza 2 has left for my racing game needs.

If it has all those different car classes and different modes à la Toca, then this is a very welcome unexpected surprise, bring it on..!

Graphics are pretty damn good, the car models have a lot of attention to detail unlike some other racing games I've seen recently.

And best of all...there's a COCKPIT VIEW..!!! :D
