Hell, Shenmue wasn't even adapted from anime or anything and that game still had horrible English voices. Many localizations are pretty poor in this regard.. I hope you can play w/ Japanese voices + English subs in Trusty Bell as well.

and yeah, you pretty much hit the nail on the hand on why people prefer the original voices.
as for this news in general, awesome to hear. Game keeps getting better and better.

Inscrit depuis 7234 JoursThis is the case with all the latest Animes, the old Animes have good voices but in this time it's like they search for the most horrible voice actors.
Inscrit depuis 7364 JoursDisney has actually done a stellar job localizing the Ghibli movies.. in some cases a less literal translation is welcome. But that was driven by a huge budget, theatrical releases, and top shelf voice talent (including real.. actors). That's not all that common.

Usually the original voice actors do a much better job.. and even when they don't.. perhaps it's more difficult to pick up on that, since I don't know the language.

It just seems like they use a low budget for it, Disney and Dreamworks use a large budget for it....wich boosts the quality.
Inscrit depuis 7364 JoursOne thing I will say though.. I hate bad subs just as much as bad dubs. Overly literal translations are bad enough, but some of the fansubs I've seen (mostly bootlegs from Chinatown) are obviously being handled by people who don't really have a firm grasp on the English language.
That's just as bad.

Where as in comparison English sounds dull and monotone, when an anime is translated it isn't always easy to translate the same kind of enthusiasm let alone have the same meaning and humor behind whats behind said.

It's about keeping things in context with what is being said on screen in Japanese, not only that some things are hard to translate.

Here are some with excellent English VA performances, for anyone who’s interested:
Wolf’s Rain, FLCL (Fooly Cooly), Cowboy Bebop series/movie, Paranoia Agent, Last Exile, RahXephon, Ghost in the Shell SAC+ 2nd GIG/movie, Trigun, Gungrave, The Place Promised in our Early Days, Koi Kaze, Bluesubmarine No. 6, Outlaw Star…
Others worth mentioning are (show and dub-wise):
- Hellsing, Gad Guard, Which Hunter Robin, Full Metal Alchemist, Samurai Champloo, Scrapped Princess, Planetes...
Just to name a few...I haven’t watched a lot of anime though because I don’t think there are many good anime series out there anyway.
But going back to "Naruto: Rise of a Ninja;" as mentioned already, having the Japanese language included should make even more people happy when they pick up the game. It's a nice plus.
