Other games I'm dead set on getting for example, like Halo 3, there a lot of reasons I could go into that makes that purchase a must for me a lot of aspects of it are to my liking same for Assassin's Creed, GTA4, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Mass Effect, and a number of other games, but with Bioshock the biggest motivation is that it looks incredible.
Willing to overlook personal taste just to play a game I think looks amazing is what I did a lot when I did only pc gaming only interrupted by the customary Final Fantasy or GTA game and Fable which I found really interesting and worth the time. I loved Quake 3 and a number of Unreal games as well, but they were never inline with what I was attracted to stylistically, but they were incredibly fun of course :)
I'm almost positive the game is probably going to be game of the year worthy with an amazing story, but there are a lot of things I'd give credit to for having a great story, but it still may not be a subject matter I'm fascinated by. So if anything thats my reason, but with that out of the way the more I see of the game the more I'm willing to put all personal tastes aside and just say what the hell and jump in. I'll be keeping my eye on all future media for this game as what depending on what is shown it may cement my decision to buy it. My biggest concern is that I'll buy it be very impressed for awhile then not be motivated to continue on. This game is definitely on my radar though I'm just waiting to see that definitive thing that helps me make up my mind.
Like Mass Effect I actually wasn't remotely convinced by that game for a short while, but what ultimately did it for me was the Prologue Bioware put up on their site and then the purchase and reading of the book which I loved and now I can't wait to get my hands on it. All I thought at one point is that its by the Kotor devs so obviously it has to be good and it looks amazing, but that wasn't enough to convince me still. I needed something more to make me want to care about the game, its characters and its universe and I got that from the book in a big way. Thats the very reason why I can't bring myself to buy anything for my PS3 as no game does that for me yet. Early on I did a lot of impulse buys for the 360, but now I'm going to be more careful.

On a different note, I started reading the preview from the first link in the thread and was immediately struck by something. They said they were visiting the studio in Quincy, MA. That's where I am!!!!! I did a little bit more digging and discovered that they are located literally 5 minutes down the road from where I live! I Wonder if I can bribe them with the local Chinese buffet....all you can eat :) Oh well, A guy can dream can't he?
