''Sony and Quantic Dream announced that Heavy Rain is going to be a PS3 Exclusive.
Quantic Dream most known from Indigo Prophecy(Fahrenheit) released the first trailer at the last E3, that was very impressive.

When the game will be released is not known, here you can see last years trailer."

Very good news I must say, I loved Fahrenheit and I'm looking forward to this one.

Indeed, brilliant news. Somehow the game is a really good fit for the PS3, and as ambitious as it is, it's nice that it gets to take advantage of one type of architecture proper.

I love the tech demo they showed, and I must say I got a bit of a crush on the CG woman. :D

Heavy Rain was just a tech demo last I heard, it could be a completely different game.

Yeah, it was mostly to show the game's focus on emotion and subtlety, making you care about this auditioning girl without her being "pixel perfect" or having huge tits, aswell as being drawn into this scene that played out before you.

It brilliantly managed both, I reckon.

Well, based on their past games The Nomad Soul and Farenheit, they seem keen on a Shemue like genre blend. David Cage, creator of both, is one of those cinematic quality in games guys, and I'd prolly pen Farenheit/Indigo Prophecy (same game different name) down as a pretty solid attempt at that.

I'd say they're more or less a new implementation of a point and click adventure.

Sure, but Shenmue is aswell.

The FPS mode and the fighting engine in Nomad Soul easily qualify as a Shenmue like genre blend. In Fahrenheit you have stealth/action elements, a "QTE" system throughout, and a number of little distractions you can engage in like playing guitar or watching TV.

There's a PC version but the controls are a bit wonky, clearly more thought put into the dual analogue stuff. But yeah, it's totally worth it. It goes a bit bananas towards the end, but overall it's still very accomplished.

Xbox version is backwards compatible and looks pretty spiffy too.

Controls are a bit wonky, eh? I wonder if it supports gamepads w/ the same controls as the console version? Very tempting to pick it up bundled with Dreamfall.

Well, there's one PS3 exclusive I'm interested in. I really wish it were coming to 360 too. It just might though.

Well I imagine focusing on the PS3 architecture, porting from PS3, isn't as easy as porting from the 360.

So I wouldn't be so sure that the 360 can do it at all, becuase of the way it's laid out.

Anyway, I hate David Cage's ethos about Cinematism, but I am willign to try the game out.

I think we should be focusing less on movies, and more on innovation within the games industry. Trying to be like movies, will qork out as an equally stale games industry.

I just re-installed Dreamfall. Such a great game. As is Indigo.

man, who bumped this from the grave.

anyway, just played through both longest journey (yeah, i was a little late lol) and dreamfall and its an awesome set of games, although dreamfall didnt have a very good enging imo, it left us with FAR too many questions and if a sequel doesnt show its face it'll seriously bug me. great games tho.

A very good exclusive to have, loved the first one, but I doubt I will have my PS3 long enough to get my hands on this release.

Its actually easier to port from PS3 to 360 than vice versa.

Apologies for this off-topic-ness, but, how good would you say the longest journey is compared to dreamfall? I played dreamfall not actually knowing about TLJ.

i'd say TLJ was a LOT better then the sequel. dreamfall felt like you did even less despite adding even more gamplay options (fighting, sneaking etc). but puzzle wise and story wise TLJ is a lot better imo. it may be dated visually (well, the characters and animations are anyway, the pre-rendered backgrounds still looks pretty stunning) but it just told a far more interesting and gripping tale. april is a far better character too. if you've played dreamfall without playing TLJ i suggest you give a go, becasue there are things you will understand a lot better then you currently do.

lets put it this way, broken sword 1 was by far my fave point and click adventure game (sorry. never saw the appeal of grim fandango, although it was still good) and TLJ has just taken its crown. its THAT good. the story is immense.
