Electronic Arts will be giving gamers the keys to Paradise City early next year, as the publisher today announced that Criterion Games' wreckless PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 racer Burnout Paradise will arrive in North American stores January 22. The European release date has not yet been confirmed.
Eager gamers who can't wait for the New Year to check out the first open-world installment in Criterion's long-running series will be able to grab a glimpse of what the game offers a little early. EA is planning to release downloadable demos for both versions of the game in December.
The demo will include a look at the game's new stunt mode, as well as the chance to race through the game's streets in search of the fastest route to a set destination. Gamers will also get to check out the new multiplayer emphasis by competing in three challenges online, or make use of the system's camera peripherals to see the look on the face of a rival racer being rubbed into a guardrail.
EDIT: Ok there we go. WOW that looks awesome!! The city is a lot less confining than i though it would be, and the car deformations are truly amazing. Ive never seen a car fuse into itself before. Definitely getting this game!
COD 4's pre-alpha stage looks better than most game's gone gold stage.
Saying you cant find animaton in Japan is like saying you cant find food in Italy. Its simply not true.
Hironobu Sakaguchi is coming back to reclaim the throne :)

I didn't like this new Burnout trailer. Very dull.

I just watched this gameplay trailer again, and I have to pick this game... at least for me as my runner up to COD4, to game of the show at E3. Lighting is very impressive. The lighting looks very natural, physics look good, and its nice this isn't just a port, bu t built ground up, for next-gen. The advance in gameplay mechanics, by making one large city to drive around is a bit of a break from the formula, and a risk, but at least they are taking risks with the franchise, to move it along. I hope it pays off. It looks great, hope it plays great.
Here is the XNA car crash from 2004...

not sure what XNA has to do with these car physics...
Some new screenshots for Burnout Paradise. This one looks to be shaping up nicely. If the timing of its release is right, and not a lot of other must have titles are out, I'll be picking this up. Fall/Winter is going to be brutal. Hopefully this will be a Feb. or March title.
Nothing more rude than trying to be the internet diplomat and abusing of power.

I like the crashes in Burnout, but they just don't click with me. I like Twisted Metal, I like Derby games, I like race games... but Burnout seems to have no real point, at least in a racing sense. Go fast and cause people to crash, cause mayhem... I guess it is the sandbox concept.
The new NFS has some nice damage, too. EA seems to have that part down good.
Bannable Insults: "Get new glasses" "Open your eyes" etc. Insinuating an insult and flaming are no-nos. If you feel like being a "true fan" then go be a true fan on the companies fan forums. Boulets are for off topic/inappropriate/bickering posts. Ignore
Midnight Club is fun too, but again, the design of the open world with tons-o-shortcuts doesn't really come across as a traditional RACE to me either.
