NO NO NO!! ..... This is rediculous! Really Rediculous! and here comes the argument of marketing the game to kids ... This is going to be freaking M-Rated Game for sure so if you cant prevent your kids from getting it then you should blame yourselves!!

Honeslty, I've had it with this piece of shit everytime a game does something with no intention of implying racism or bullying or violence or whatever. Enough is enough, why Aren't movies subjected to the same crap!!!

It's "ridiculous" -- but I agree. I guess white people are only allowed to kill white zombies. And for the last time -- RE4 took place in SPAIN. Many Spanish people are... WHITE!

It's so damn ignorant for us Americans to assume that everyone who speaks Spanish is a Mexican (not that there's anything wrong with Mexicans).

The only racist people in all this are the people accusing Capcom of being racist with RE5. No one seems to have a problem other than these black rights people. The previous 4 games consisted largely of white Zombies. The game takes place in AFRICA what the hell do they expect? I think Def Jam icon games are much more racist than this but no one seems to have a problem with that.

For the record when I first saw the trailer the first though that popped into my head was that someone was going to complain about it...It didn't take too long for that to happen.

Well I can see how it must look to an outside observer unfamiliar with the themes of the Resident Evil games. We're quick to dismiss comments made by people towards video games, but how often do we take the time to look beyond the surface, into the meaning of what they're implying?

Likewise, someone who sees Chris blow away black people aren't going to make the distinction that they're especially EVIL black people.

That said, there's no logical fault on behalf of the game itself. It's set in africa like deco notes, so the locals will be black. Infected locals will be black, and thus the enemies in the game will be almost exclusively black people.

So in my opinion, while there's obviously no racist intent, it is a valid point. The game isn't to blame, there's no actual foul here.

Then again, I was okay with the PSP ad too, while a lot people here wanted to lynch Sony for it.

I agree ^^, on another note, were gamers so we know its just fun, outsiders looking in will not see it that way, which is why games like GTA/BULLY/MANHUNT2 and now RE5 will always cause a stir, and the fact that these games are looking more and more realistic dose not help!, i'm sure if these were ps2 or ps1 graphics then this would not even have been noticed, but the fact that it looks so real and is being showing all over the internet has obviously got a lot of peoples backs up.

Here's an idea. Capcom should just make all the African zombies white. Come up with some back story that they all fell in a bath of bleach or something. I'm sure that wouldn't detract from the overall experience of the game.

There will always be some moron who *WANTS* to feel discriminated. I've met this people in real life, they often blame their stupidity and whatever happens to them to "racism" which is extremely annoying and sad at the same time.

Well they need to wake up and get their ass on Halo 2 LIVE and see what most "kids" are saying, that is worst than a fictional story.

So any game that a religion meets another religion with different color, it HAS to be racist?

I agree with Op about they making cookies, because I sure want those life long cookies, because they obviously won't shut up :P

Besides, it WAS a matter of time before this came out. In the first couple of hours I saw forums about jerks and perks keep making "this is racist" and what not when the RE5 trailer was out.

I say, avoid all these forums, articles...etc. about GAMES being "racist" and it will fade away.

Good lord. Its a fucking game. And Chris isnt shooting them because they are black, he's just defending himself against people WHO WANT TO KILL HIM! It wouldnt matter of they were black, white, yellow, green, or purple. Take a step back and consider this: race was probably never a consideration when they picked the setting for RE5.. so what shows more discrimination; allowing racial division to lead effect development or ignoring those lines all together?

If we look at it another way, the then these critics acussing this game to be racist are not doing it for the general public of people, but for those particular individuals who would actually play this game and use race in their everyday life to target black people. Yadadamean?
Like when they want to ban something like GTA, it's because some kids actually have gone and tried to commit crimes the same way.
The only way to stop things like that from happening is by limiting the game itself, which is pretty unfair, but it does make sense.

Yeah I just finished RE4 and now I'm really looking forward to buying RE5, but I can see why this is such an issue.

When I saw the trailer for this game all I could think about was "Wow, the textures look REALLY good. Holy crap, that guy was scary." I didn't think, is this racism because Chris is white and he's shooting at black zombies?
The worst thing about this blog is, why does she assume that because someone is black that they're necessarily from Africa? Couldn't it be in the Caribbean, maybe like Haiti or Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, or Jamaica? I've been to Jamaica many times, and I can tell you some parts of the country look EXACTLY like that.
My take is that she's simply insecure, and uses these insecurities to vent her own racist notions.
Let's just hope that the games industry can get around this political correctness that already plagues holly wood and made a majority of movies absolute garbage.
Let's be the better people by not bringing up these issues of race and always feeling like we have to protect one group of people from any sort of defamation: if we are all to be equal, as I believe we are, the color of your skin matters not. It's your actions that talk.

This picture to someone completely unfamiliar with the context of the game shows exclusively black people running like savages towards a white hero who guns them down.

An outside observer won't know the reasons behind that behaviour, they won't appreciate the distinction that these people are prolly infected by some crazy virus that makes them act this way. This is what it looks like on the surface - it's a game where a white guy runs around in africa and mows down locals attacking him with pitchforks.

How can you NOT see where that might strike a bad chord with people?
