It's got a lof of the PR bullshit you'de expect. I like this bit in particular about their cover system but him mentioning both Halo 3 and COD4 is just calling for trouble. let's hope they deliver
Bring on Lost Odyssey!

Too bad he didn't want to comment on multiplayer other than "it's awesome etc.". I would like to know the new mechanics, especially if it has a chance to be more successful than precedessors in terms of popularity, which was non-existant.
I think I'm going to rebuy and replay BIA Road to Hill 30 one of these days, this time the PC version for better image quality :)

I'm not too worried. If you look at some other popular trends, like more advanced stance mechanics (prone), lean and peak, etc -- which have all found their place in many popular shooters -- they haven't taken the genre over completely. Hopefully cover will find its niche and stick with it.. rather than becoming the new regenerative health.
I hope regenerative health takes a back seat in some cases as well, it's a wonderful mechanic, especially for single player games, but there are viable alternatives that are just as well designed I think. It beats the hell out of hunting for health packs, but what about medics, health stations, etc. There are existing options, and a creative developer could come up with new ones as well.
I really do want to play this game. I've never played a BIA game before, and I do enjoy a good squad campaign, and I actually do still enjoy the WWII setting as well. I hope it's better than GRAW, with a more engaging story, at least.

Now, had he made the comparison to say Gears of War, Rainbow Six Vegas or GRAW/GRAW2, then he'd have to back up those words with more than just words.
All things considered however, the first two BIA titles were top notch, AAA games, and there is little reason to believe that Gearbox cannot continue to deliver the goods. I think one of the reasons the game is continually being delayed, is an impetus by the company to not only to make it as close to perfect as possible, but to create what is quite possibly the best WWII shooter ever made; for that matter, one of the best shooters ever . . . and it shows. Everytime they show off Hell's Highway it looks light years beyond the last time you saw it - which is a very good thing, especially considering the competition. One thing is for certain, once Gearbox finally delivers this monster, be prepared to have the high water mark of what it is to be a shooter, set just that much higher than it was before. Not hyperbole, just the likely outcome of years worth of dedicated work from one of the best devs on the planet.
A system like this would work well.
