Right, this would be the 5th premium DLC they release for this (btw great) game.. Probably again for 400 MS points..

I'll download the free car that always comes with it so I can at least see other people using the other DLC cars.. I'm not buying anything, as I refuse to support the premium DLC buisinessmodel that the industry is "experimenting" with on the consoles.. Forza2 was 60 euro for me, and that was plenty.. If I would have bought all the DLC car- and trackpacks sofar, the price of the game would come close to 90 euro, which is rediculous..

I wish more people would stop encouraging the industry going this way.. (looking at people like Jin187)

They need to look more at free DLC, like they did with the sponsored Nissan pack (the fact that they need to have a sponsor for it is already kindof sad, but fits their marketing of DLC).. Or give the community it's own tools to create DLC (something MS will probably not like to do as they don't want that kind of competition for their XBL marketplace)..

You have very valid views, but for me, I base my DLC purchases based on how much fun I feel I will have with the price I paid for it. 400 points for example = around £3, so each car costs less than a chocolate bar. I will have hours of fun with each one of those cars, a lot more fun than I would have with a chocolate bar :D

I also feel that people should be paid for the work they do, I'm sure the guys at Turn 10 dont work for free while building DLC so why should MS give it away for free? To me paying for high quality DLC should be standard (Especially in a game Like Forza where every car is modeled extremely accurately), Free stuff is a bonus.

That's a valid view aswell, but think about all the people that don't play the game that often, or simply cannot spend that much money on games? With cars etc it's not that much of a problem, but with online tracks/maps you're bassicly shut out from your friends that did buy them and play on them.. You either buy, or you're out! Not much fun..

Sounds valid, but imho it's nothing more then a weak excuse from the industry itself to explain their current DLC policy on consoles.. Or do you really think they didn't make enough money already from the game itself to pay for those (relative low) extra costs? If not, then how did they give all that DLC away for free all those years on the PC? It obviously wasn't an issue there and then (and still isn't for most PC developers and publishers).. That fact proves it's a weak excuse, because it's obviously possible to make enough money of games to run a buisiness without charging for every single piece of DLC..

Imho DLC on the consoles is now (ab)used trying the milk us gamers for that extra buck.. Nothing but pure greed if you ask me.. And that's even fine with me upto a certain point, what pisses me off though is the splitting of online communities which shows no respect at all to the fans imho.. It shows they care more about the money then they do about the people that buy and play their games..

If MS talks about creating and maintaining great online gaming communities it makes me laugh (sarcasticly)..

I agree with Inflatable, well said.

They have lots of cash from a relatively low budget game. You are not going to tell me this game cost a lot of money because the fact is it did not. To prove it look no further than a the crappy number of tracks, and the overall technical problems of the game. The little money they had they spent on core gameplay (physics, etc), but that is it.

And I think I'd rather buy the chocolate bar Jin :P

It's not like they spent years making the cars at that level of quality. It's not like these cars are GT-detailed, they are not. And even when they want us to believe, they really don't fully research every single car, much less DLC cars.

LEBATO, I don't agree with you that Forza2 is a relative low budget game.. It did cost a lot of time and money to make, I'm sure.. But I'm also sure they already made enough money from selling the main game that they don't 'have to' charge for DLC..

And like I said splitting online communities by charging for maps and tracks etc is unforgivable.. At least make the maps and tracks free, and only charge for cars and weapons or something whatever the game, so at least everybody that bought the game can keep playing together online..

Now it's almost like they want to turn every online game into a MMO where you have to keep paying to continue to be part of it all.. And I don't care it's only 400 MS points or less, because it's not the price that's the issue here, it's the principle.. You should not devide your online fan communities just because you want to make a extra buck of your game..

Well I wish we had figures on how much game costs, but I don't see how FM could have costed much. The car models are just cheap.........CHEAP. On car models alone they spent about one third other games like GT are spending. They don't have to model the interior and basically the amount of detail is lacking. Again, technology is really bad in this game aside from physics.

The game has awful anti aliasing problems, a shaky framerate that can't even keep 30fps during replays, reflections aren't smooth, there's no weather effects, there is no lighting changes (day/night/overcast, etc), only 8 cars on track...........I don't see how this game would have been costly to be honest. It's like they did zero research on technology for this game, basically they learned as they went.

A lot of tracks were cut out from the first Forza, they take out 4 and give us two new ones (not exact numbers, just saying), I'm sure everyone is going to fall for that one. I'm sure it is more expensive to do a track this gen than last, but when you are cutting a bunch of old tracks you basically have to spend the same budget, and this for a sequel?

Even the car themselves, the list was increased with about 50 of them......."wow?"

And let's not forget that for racing games a lot of costs are cut because of all the advertising. So it is not like they spend fortunes on licensing, at least not when you consider everything else.

I like the game and some of the improvements, but for a sequel to such a great game I think it is somewhat overrated. If it weren't for the tight physics in this game and the fact that there is no other simulations on the 360 I would have skipped it, no second thoughts. So now I'm hoping they do something new for the next Forza.

So you really think having great graphics requires more time and money than a robust accurate physics engine?

Infact, dont answer, it seems you obviously do...

Thats like saying, "If it wasnt for tight gameplay in Ninja Gaiden, I would have bought heavenly sword".

Its Physics ARE the reason Forza 2 is so great, that is what sets it apart from other racers. If all you want to do is stare at beautiful cars, watch an episode of Top Gear.

Not really, and that is really not the point. I just said that because I was expecting someone to say "why did you buy it then?". Let's say I don't care much about physics, I would not have bought it. And yes, people don't care about physics.....lots of people don't care. Another way to put it is, if it weren't because the improvements in physics, the game would have been pretty damn pathetic.

And that is not enough, and it shouldn't be the only thing. How come Forza 1 put it all together?

Oh, and I watch Top Gear, freaking awesome :D

Forza2's graphics are good enough, and it's not just the physics that make the game imho, it's also the ability to customize your own cars with upgrades and paintjobs.. When I play Forza 2 online there's almost never 2 of the exact same cars on the track like you seen in other racegames.. You can race your oldskool US muscle car v tuned Japanese rice racers with crazy paintjobs etc, that makes the game fun for me aswell..

GT4 car models looked better than Forza 1 and ran at 60fps on a considerably weaker machine. Yet you had no complaints?

Unlike you, most people buy Forza for its driving sensation, If you dont care about its advanced physics and prefer to look at the game rather than drive it, you should give it a miss and go for PGR instead or GT.

Agreed, Forza 2 is by far the most versatile driving game available and will probably remain unrivalled until Forza 3.
