-Will show the Helghast have humanity left in them.
-Will have the feeling that "of being in a place far away from home, outnumbered by people who want to kill you."
-Will be like Inglorious Basterds.
-All of the characters in the screenshots are flying in.. jetpacks?!
-Will include arctic levels.
-One mission in the game involves rescuing ISA Captain Narville.
-Game is playable in 3D!
-Have to wear 3D glasses, apparently the 3D effects are "crazy."
-Combat is "unchanged from predecessor."
-Hand to hand combat involves you "Unloading a string of different (and often brutal) attacks on stunned enemies."
-The scale is supposed to be "bigger this time."
-The Jetpacks are "surprisingly lightweight and agile, Killzone 3's jetpack is easier to maneuver compared to the sluggish incarnations of the gadget found in other games."
-New weapon called the Wasp, basically shoots a "flurry of rockets" at an enemy.
-Will show off the Helgjast culture.
-There is actually a Helghast language, which will be explored in the game."
Wohoo! Loved the first game so much. By far my favorite multiplayer console game this generation!! There are scans out there for you to find if you want, will not post them here.
Currently playing: Uncharted 2, CoDMW2 (PS3), Torchlight (PC)
Seriously, after all the shit GG got from the controls in Killzone 2 I cannot believe they are not going to make some adjustments so that the game does not alienate such a vast amount of gamers who, like me, really really want to like this game. I'm honestly stunned as I had just assumed they would at least tighten things up so it doesn't feel so disconnected.
The Jetpack idea seems to be the new thing for shooters lol, I hope this doesn't become a big trend though as it could get really old.
I'm glad to hear about the artic levels though, the lack of level variety really hurt KZ2 for me but i'm hoping we'll see a much bigger spread in part 3. Also glad to hear it will be bigger in scale as part 2 felt far too linear much of the time.
I just can't believe they are sticking w/ that fucking control scheme...damn it.
:D (I'm just bored)
Halloween.
There are scans online for more images.
BTW, considering GG has done a amazing job on visuals effects like wind, dust, particles...etc. create a fantastic atmosphere I am glad they are deciding on making more snow levels and the Helghast models with snow outfit design looks great.
Everything sounds great to me...but the gunplay is what will break the game, again!
I know that I will buy Killzone 3 for sure because I love the universe, visuals, art...etc. so I will have to manage to accept the crappy controls again *sigh*
Atleast I am used to it thanks to Killzone 2 hehe.
E3 is going to be fantastic!
aiming did seem "off" somehow though. whatever, I liked the game; pretty epic.
Halloween.
I'd like to see more organic environments though, i think 2 had enough concrete and urban theme, I'd love to see a killzone in a more natural setting, i would think it would look stunning.
I'm really curious to see what they add to the class system and new weapons.
There is 2 weapons that obviously going to come back which is the default assault rifles.
One thing I hope they remove from the MP side is the shitty Saboteurs and remove the damn grenade class, in MP mostly everyone spams grenade launchers and RPGs even in close areas and it breaks the fun.

Take a bath!? Get a bike!
Sometimes new modes are announced much later in the progress than announcements.
The gunplay IMO isnt as fun as Crysis or Halo for example, but it works...abit. I am a bit of mixed about it to be honest. Sometimes it works great and I like it, but sometimes the movement goes against my will and feels stiff and clunky thats when I start hating it.
I think the reason why the movement is like this is to set it apart from the speed up run and gun such as Crysis, Halo, COD...etc. but it rather is trying to make it more slower on purpose than crazy fast movements.
Atleast thats how I see it.
I still got Killzone 2 so I might play it again sometime when I see more of Killzone 3 LOL which is at E3 :)
good lord, that took forever to type.
Halloween.
i do hope it's longer then the second game tho. that was really my only complaint about killzone 2 since unlike some i didnt have any issues with the controls...hell. i prefer them over the twitch shooter controls of say, COD in most cases.
can't wait.
** Yes We CAN!! **
It becomes this thing that feels dated the second you finish it. No amount of lush visuals will have you inclined to retread its issues-ridden gameplay structure, its baffling weapon management system, or its poor level design outside of the visuals. Kinda like a blockbuster movie escapes your consciousness when you walk out of the theater and doesn't have enough to it to warrant a repeat.
But it does mean that I'm looking forward to going on this ride aswell.
It is INSANE that they're not addressing the gameplay issues though I have to say. There are some absolutely fundamental issues with the way it handles weapon loadouts that have an impact on scenario design that make it a worse game than it needs to be. It's like they're just being stubborn about that stuff and refuse to pick from all these other approaches that work. I wish they'd go back to the Killzone 1 way if they just HAVE to have a system that is flawed in SOME way. At least that was conducive to scenario variety.

either way, the more killzone i get the happier i am. will be nice to see it in motion at E3 tho. i'm sure it'll blow everyone away...hell, the second game still does.
They still have Motorstorm 3 and Infamous 2 all shrouded in secrecy though. I think they're striking a pretty good balance.
Some effing awesome games coming out of Sony for sure, I'm SO STOKED for Infamous 2. If it's better than the first I'm literally afraid of the ways it'll have me feel. :O

i mean, there's no doubt sony have a lot to show, hell, that isnt even taking into acount their 'move/3D' stuff. but i still find it strange they'd announce these 2 games prior to E3 since they're 2 of their bigger titles critically and commercially. now if motorstorm 3 was announced and shown prior to E3, i'd have felt it made sense since it's not a hugely popular game. if anything it's almost cult following sort of status. that makes sense since it would be lost in the crowd at E3, same goes for infamous in some ways. killzone 3 and LBP2 tho....those are dominating titles that you expect to be revealed in a big fashion.
FROM THE DARKNESS I DRAW MY STRENGTH!!
I mean look at the UC2 helicopter chase demo and what that did for that franchise. People went from not giving two shits about Uncharted 1 to throwing their hands in the air, yelling obscenities in a passionate tone.
I think there is opportunity to let some things come out of nowhere and blow hinges off doors if you give that opportunity to things that are previously somewhat of an underdog. KZ3 is such a sure bet, and no amount of inflating that for E3 is gonna change the perception people have of it significantly.

games like killzone 2 got that sort of attention, they are impressive not purely for the shock and awe of the unpredicted announcement itself, but becasue they're top tier titles for the system and push what said system is capable of. games like motorstorm however arnt. they're the sort of game that might wow you initially with the announcement, but they end up getting very little coverage when other, more impressive titles are being shown alongside it.
motorstorm seems fit for a pre-E3 announcement becasue of that. there isnt anything to get in it's way...it can shine it's brightest if you will. it's much the same with release schedules i guess, where certain big budget games take away attention from games that are released at the same time, that's sort of how i look at E3. i want a consistantly great and momorable 'setlist' where very few if any games overshadow other titles. motorstorm is a game that gets overshadowed by bigger better games. killzone has staying power. which to me means it should be announced in a big way at a big event, whether it's a predictable announcement or not.
i supose what i'm saying is that killzone 3 deserve mainstage attention (E3), wheras motorstorm should be on the second stage since it almost needs that early coverage so it isnt completely forgotten about in the midst of E3. especially now where it's on it's 3rd itteration and everyone knows how it plays and whether they enjoy it or not.
LBP2 and Motorstorm 3 are the games I'm really anxious to see. I really love those two franchises and my girl goes crazy for the cute factor in LBP so I'll have another reason to hand her a gamepad.
Like you Simon I'm stunned that GG are being thick headed enough to keep the awful control scheme but as much as I hate it, it didn't stop me from playing Killzone 2 so I'm sure I'll at the very least rent Killzone 3 just b/c such large games are about impossible to ignore.
I just feel like they are wasting such a HUGE opportunity at making what could otherwise be a great game. But your hollywood summer popcorn movie analogy worked quite well, it's a fun ride, just not enough substance to keep you interested after the fact.
Let us just pray they at least do something about the rocket/grenade spamming.
Oh yeah, really looking forward to seeing actual gameplay of Last Guardian. I really hope this game is much longer than SotC or Ico. Good games, just too limited to one idea. Maybe LG will be more "full". But even if it's not i'm sure it will still be a breath-taking game.
If I even told you about a hypothetical game and told you that you have one main weapon and one sidearm, and to pick up a sniper you'd have to let go of a mid/close range weapon, you would probably think for a while and then go "doesn't that mean one of the following..?;"
A) They either made the upcoming bit tailored to the weapon they WANT you to pick up, like a glorified turret section you can walk around in
or
B) The upcoming bit is some sort of bland inbetween mishmash that isn't a terribly great game
And I'd answer "SPOT ON, mister! It's an awful, awful, awful idea on the most fundamental level!"
And this is after Killzone 1, where, to similarly spite everything established and obviously BETTER, they went with THREE main weapons so that there was never any contemplating how to equip yourself when an opportunity to do so came along. It didn't matter, you could just get one of each weapon type.
Guerrilla just aren't very good at making a game, I guess. They have the atmosphere down for damned sure, and it is a spectacular looking, sounding ride to go on, but as a game it's not the least bit rewarding or stimulating. I can deal with sluggish aiming, but the weapons system and what that does to the level/encounter design creates a super shallow experience that doesn't have enough meat on its bones to go back to after its first dazzling run.
