Woods to adapt 'Hitman'

Fox has tapped Skip WoodsSkip Woods ("Swordfish""Swordfish") to adapt its feature version of vidgame "Hitman," with Vin DieselVin Diesel toplining.

Studio picked up the Eidos vidgame franchise in June from producers Chuck GordonChuck Gordon and Adrian Askarieh. Diesel will exec produce and Daniel Alter will serve in a producing capacity.

The story centers on an international assassin, known as Agent 47, who works for a mysterious org dubbed the Agency.

Woods, who is getting mid-six figures for the adaptation, wrote and directed indie pic "Thursday""Thursday" and worked on remake "Logan's Run" at Warner Bros.

Fox is looking at "Hitman" as a potential franchise. Studio and Universal also are developing Microsoft's megahit vidgame "Halo" and recently brought on Peter JacksonPeter Jackson to exec produce.

Fox prexyprexy of production Hutch ParkerHutch Parker and exec VP Alex YoungAlex Young are overseeing.

First three games in the "Hitman" franchise have sold more than 5 million units.

Financially troubled Eidos, which was recently acquired by Sci Games, is working on another sequel, "Hitman: Blood Money." Originally scheduled for the middle of this year, it has been pushed back to the winter.

So, the only thing they have in common is the lack of hair. I don't see Vin Diesel as Agent 47, but on the other hand, I'm really not a fan of the games.

Agent 47 had minimal muscle mass and no body fat, he was built like a ninja not a wrestler! I can't see Vin Diesel pulling off the mixed English/South African accent either.

James Marsters was the perfect actor for this all along, but they're unlikely to tap unknown talent for this stuff, despite a perfect fit.

Josh Holloway should play Solid Snake, but that's pretty unlikely to happen aswell. :)

Vin diesel is the opposite of a stealthy assasin. He would be better in film like doom which is a mindless action movie.

Adrien Brody has the most kickass look for like a true adventure film, I can't wait to see him in King Kong, that's just an awesome fit. :)

Personally I think that Jason Stathom (Transporter films, Cellular, Collateral, Itallian Job) would make a perfect Agent 47... 1st thing is that he looks cool bald, hes more lean then Vin Diesel (which is perfect for Agent 47), knows martial arts and the most important thing is that he looks perfect in the suit... (as seen in both of the Transporter films). Not to mention he is quite a video game buff himself and has done voiceovers for Call of Duty as Sgt. Winters (PC), and Red Faction II

On top of all that he handles his own weapons and does his own stunts... and of course he has the hair and a bar code would fit him just fine...

Well Jason is an "obvious choice" because he's semi-bald and has already been in a suit in a film, but I don't think he's anywhere near evil enough. 47 looks like a complete psycho, Jason Statham is cuddly.
