I think Sonic will be back with a vengeance this time round.
SEGA seem back on track too :)
Don't touch that Squirrels nuts!
So glad SEGA did a good job and if really looking forward to playing it.
And those 15 years have absolutely flown by

Um, frankly, this is a bit of a dream scenario for me. When Shadow The Hedgehog came out I was actually pretty keen on the thought of a Sonic game that had sort of a tragic tone to it. Sonic CD was that in a lot of ways, and I've always liked the contrast between a well designed "cartoon" or "fantasy" hero (there isn't really a good word for it that doesn't sound patronizing) and a sad story.
I dunno if a lot of people played Ecco The Dolphin: Defender of The Future (DC, PS2) or if anyone got far in it, but once you'd gone through the lush, green bits at the beginning, you were transported through time to an alternate wastelandish future with murky, oily water, and injured, sick and mutated creatures. If you swam to the surface, you could see rusty machinery and dark skies in all directions, and it had such an enormous impact. Much more so than if you stick a gritty looking Gears of War character in - surprise! - a gritty looking apocalyptic city.
SO, with Shadow, beyond the initial impression that they wanted to GANGSTAH up Sonic, I was starting to like the thought of having that done to the Sonic universe. Not permanently, mind. I still want my green hill zones and be chased by avalanches and all that, but you know, just for once I wanted that same contrast and impact Ecco had.
In some ways Shadow delivered on that. The cutscenes made me SQUEAL LIKE A FAN-PIG in their utter fucking amazingness. Sonic especially looked absolutely superb rendered grittier and less shiny candy/Sonic Heroes-y. Of course the game was an extremely average affair that, while sporting better controls than a lot of the 3D sonics, succumbed to mediocreness because of really boring art direction beyond "LET'S MAKE IT BROWN AND RED!" and repetitive, charmless levels devoid of personality.
Shadow, which was ultimately a failure both from a quality standpoint aswell as a commercial one, didn't leave me with much hope of the GOOD ideas buried within being tackled with greater success elsewhere.
Until now, that is.

The thing i liked about Sonic Adventure on the DC was that you could see each characters from a different point of view, they all had different abilities and the story was well put together.
Shadow had no sense of direction a lot of the time, you could one minute be aiming to get a chaos emerald and the next thing your fighting for Dr. Evil.
Sonic adventure made me want to explore ever inch of the level where as Shadow made me want to get it over with.
This trailer was ok but it didn't really give much of a sense of what to expect from the game.
The gameplay clips i found the other day looked pretty good though, hopefully we will see plenty of in game footage, or maybe that playable demo that has been rumoured..
Don't touch that Squirrels nuts!
Makes me all happy inside.
I think this is tied with Halo 3 as my most anticipated game...
THe Xbox Live Marketplace trailer made me sploodge my pants, I'm loving the new character design!
Even without VF5, all is not lost.

What I mean is i think the type of big 360 japanese titles that will be announced will be a shocker for many. (its expected for sony) but for the 360 thats some real news.
Never judge a game too harshly via screenshots or videos, because they are in no way capable of properly representing what the game truly looks like were you to see it running in front of you on a 360
For some reason I just can't get excited about these 3D sonic games... I miss the old 2D sonic games.
