I have played Devil May Cry in order so far (3,1,4,2) but i have not played 2 because 4 is not out yet. I am going to beat 4 before I play 2 but I hear it quite frankly sucks. Is it worth the time to play Devil May Cry 2??

yes, i for one really enjoyed it but mainly cause he looks like marylin manson lo
2 is a "good game" just not as great as the others, i found it more style over substance, decent story though and if you are playing the games in order (i cant see why you would want to ... due to game mechanics are fantastic in 3 basic in 1 and ... you get the picture) then yeah you would have to complete 2 for the story, because if you dont....what the fuck was the point ?

I'm gonna have to disagree here. I love DMC 1 and 3, but part 2 was just horrible. The action was bad and not particularly challenging, the environments and characters were badly designed and the voice acting was straight from hell. And not in a good Dante kind of way either, it was just plain bad. The story was the worst piece of crap in the mix though. It didn't make any sense and it just felt weird and random. I might be a retard and unable to understand it but...no, there was no bit about DMC2 that was good imo.

What made DMC1 and 3 great was that you always had to be on your toes, just mashing never got you any where. In DMC2 i feel the opposite. Just mindlessly hack your way through the game and you win. Admittedly i never played it on anything above normal, since it was so utterly horrible. Maybe it gets better if you increase difficulty?

DMC2 was about good old kickass. however, you just were a complete badass from the start, so there was little challenge if you knew how to play. Yeah, the story? meh, nothin special, i've seen worse, but, yeah, it looked bad because it wasn't as amazing as others.

I played only 1 and 2...and soon 4 (played demo of course).

I thought the acrobatic feature that DMC2 had was awesome. Had different moves to get up once he was beaten to the ground. Or the wall moves was awesome as well.

The second thing I liked about it was when the features the "gun moves" in various directions, very awesome.

And Lucia was great, my favorite female character in DMC series.

Man, i can't believe you skipped part 3. DMC3 is great, it basically takes all the things that DMC1 did great and improves on the general concept! There's no excuse, just go out and buy DMC3 special edition right away. It's cheap and if you liked DMC1 and the demo of DMC4 then you'll be all over this title in no-time. It's a MUST :)

Megido...my excuse is that when I had a PS2 I never knew that DMC3 was coming so I sold it and bought a Xbox...and it was months before I knew DMC3 was coming.

That, and after I bought my Ps3, the only games that I wanted to play and return was Killzone (just to see all the fuzz) and defintely God of War 2, after that, no more last gen games.

I tried to play the first part once. Unfortunately, I didn't succeed. I was killed at first in the room itself. And when I managed to kill everyone in the middle, I was killed by a boss who appeared outside when I was killing regular mobs. I suffered for two hours and realized that I couldn't play it.

  • reneyvane
