To prepare for the game's launch, EA is giving Xbox 360 owners a chance to go toe-to-toe with the game for free. EA has confirmed to GameSpot that a demo of Icon is scheduled to be available on Xbox Live Marketplace this Thursday.

The single-player demo will feature Big Boi--also known as one-half of Outkast--and T.I. as playable brawlers on the Gas Station level. Gameplay will be timed, and the two songs that will keep gamers tapping their toes and kicking their opponents' cans are "Kryptonite" from Purple Ribbon All-Stars featuring Big Boi and "Top Back" from T.I.

I'm a little iffy on gamespot's announcements with demo availability. I've been burned before, but hopefully this comes out this week.

I hate hip hop as hell, but because this is a FREE demo, I will download it, but I do not think it will stay in the HDD so long as Lost Planet did.

Man that last Def Jam on Xbox was one of the best games i played on there, gameplay was awesome especially some of the very painfull moves....

And i loved the sound track!

I like hip hop, but I'm not very interested in this game. Too ridiculously over the top and the whole crossover artist thing is a bit..annoying at times. I'll download it too though, I'm sure it will look cool.

I'm more looking forward to your more traditional Japanese fighter though. That's one area where I'm a bit biased. This is more of a wrestling game, right? Atleast the last one was?

It depended on your character....


you could make your own fighter and during the story you would build him up from scratch and you could choose an mix of 3 different fighting styles....

You choose from styles like, karate, wrestling, street fighting, martial arts, etc....

So it depended on your own choices...

I dont like hip-hop but i liked the first game to the old box so will be interesting. Really loved the brutality in the first game so hope this will go the same way with some really nice moves.

Nice that i can stream my own metal music to the 360 while playing :D

Grift - The visuals looks cool and all...but because i hate hip hop, I wont bother with this one, but I want to play the demo because I want to see the GRAPHICS in HD on 720p thats it after that..its time for, deletion! hehe.

Blue Dragon is an unimaginative JRPG featuring a myriad of JRPG cliches and very redundant looking characters. To even call this game "original" in any way is an insult to every great JRPG made.......all 4 of 'em......

FireWire, I thought Fight for NY was absolutely fantastic aswell, but they've fucked this up to no end with wobbly cardboard backgrounds and funky dynamic MTV animation inspired effects.

You should get it simply due to the reputation of Fight for New York. The previous games were wonderful, whether you like hip hop or not. The only thing that frightens me about Icon is that it seems SO much more different than the previous games in the series.

This isn't at all the Def Jam I signed up for though. I liked the fact that for the most part you could avoid the hip hop ickyness in Fight for NY and just make a really badass, unique character. You'd tailor moves and kick ass in what's got to be the most realistic/satisfying street fighting game ever.

Now it's all MTV'ed to fuck. :(

How am I supposed to get the viceral oomph of combat when throwing people into wiggly cardboard cars and stuff? I just hate what they've done to it.

I'm sure it'll play the same, roughly though, and people who haven't played FfNY will go "woo!" and we'll get piles of sequels with equally wacky premises. Yay for mainstream appeal.

I don't have a huuuge problem with the music per se, just the gangstah culture forced down our throats through a medium that's otherwise rather neutral.

Havent seen anything about it, and didnt really enjoy the earlier street games, they were just too hard for me, although alot of fun when playing with a friend.
