Since 7047 Days2 is a "good game" just not as great as the others, i found it more style over substance, decent story though and if you are playing the games in order (i cant see why you would want to ... due to game mechanics are fantastic in 3 basic in 1 and ... you get the picture) then yeah you would have to complete 2 for the story, because if you dont....what the fuck was the point ?

Since 6429 DaysWhat made DMC1 and 3 great was that you always had to be on your toes, just mashing never got you any where. In DMC2 i feel the opposite. Just mindlessly hack your way through the game and you win. Admittedly i never played it on anything above normal, since it was so utterly horrible. Maybe it gets better if you increase difficulty?

Since 6970 DaysI thought the acrobatic feature that DMC2 had was awesome. Had different moves to get up once he was beaten to the ground. Or the wall moves was awesome as well.
The second thing I liked about it was when the features the "gun moves" in various directions, very awesome.
And Lucia was great, my favorite female character in DMC series.
