The dog wasn't the problem. In fact once the dog was a 5 Star treasure hunter he located diamonds, high XP potions, five star dyes, augments and gold bags in the 1000-2000 range. So the dog did have some uses if you invested in the books and back tracked over previously visited locations. The investment in the fighting books was a waste IMO as the dog doesn't actually fight with anyone, but rather goes after fallen foes.
I guess we played a different game, because my dog was upgraded all the way and all he did find was some bullshit I didn't need.
It seems that Lionhead went for the quantity over quality in terms of game mechanics... There's a lot of fun stuff to do but it's extremely shallow....
Example's:
- I joined the cult of shadows and apart from sacrificing people and getting an quest to kill the whole village of Oakfield, there's nothing to do. And while the quest it self was really funny (I walked around with a big butcher knife, a cleaver, and sneaked around to people's houses and kicked the door in and slaughtered them), I hoped they the quest would have a big impact on the world. Instead everyone just keep telling me I'm bad because I did that).
And 1 day after the quest every NPC is back again and I even got a 12.750 gold fine or workpenalty.
- Marriage and getting a child is shallow at best.
- Enemies are posted on the same spots every frickin' time. It get's boring. Although I have to be honest I really like the combat-mechanic in the game...
- The whole: U can get fat and thin thing goes way too fast IMO, eating 4 or 5 items that have fat in them will already give you a potbelly....
- "the combat is rewarding" OHH REALLY?? After 3 hours of play I get myself a gun which is basicly strong enough to kill every NPC in the game.

I agree with a lot of peoples comments here. The game felt buggy and a lot of features had no depth. BUT if you have an open mind and imagination I think you can still have a lot of fun and you'll find a charming game.

I don't have a clue if the third iteration is going to be any good but like ManTYF, I've kind of lost a little hope. Mainly because with every sequel they keeping drifting further away from a game a lot of people wanted from the start.

Peter didn't spoil it for me because he talked a lot of bullshit...he spoiled(spoilt?) it for me because his dev studio made what felt like a Fisher Price rpg.

That's because people are stupid. Most people shouldn't be allowed to vote.

I mean, the only reason i can see as to why you'd feel affection toward that pile of polygons is...stupidity. I honestly hope that anyone that raised any sort of feeling other than hate towards the mutt never come in contact with a japanese dating sim, cause they'll never come out of their rooms ever again. And their computers will be filled with wank.

And what is this about brining the dog back? It's very simple, if you didn't pick the dog at the en you bloody well don't get the dog back later. Peter is a goddamn pussy, it's all about choices this and that but then in the end 5 retarded fans cried when they could not be the bulging hero, the sopping dog lover and the millionaire at once and what ho? A patch to fix it! Fable just goes lower and lower on my radar. Eliminating core game features with DLC, that's just great.
lol...i would agree about not caring about the dog. (prolly not to that extent) but that dog just pissed me off, he SUCKED at getting treasure. I wanted to shoot him. Didn't bother me too much when he died either.

Something like Shadow of Collosus on the other hand, they really built up the character and player attatchment with the horse.

Fable 3 already being previewed just means more of the same that came in 2. How in the hell it was reviewed so highly is beyond me. Nothing in that game was remotely satisfying and it was filled with game breaking bugs.
It's like they created a game equal to being a child on a leash being walked around by your mom or dad so you can't do much of anything or have any fun. You couldn't even die for christ sake.

I could go on forever about the trash game Fable 2.

It was fun dc, no one can deny that. But parts of the game were really flaky.

There was this one part of the game where Hannah, Garth and the Hero charged Brightwood Tower for the Cullisgate to Bloodstone. THAT was the only time Fable2 felt really good to me, it was the only time it felt like a REAL RPG. I remember the small argument that Hannah and Garth were having on the way and I thought, "Man I wish my character had some lines and could contribute more than stupid expressions"

By the time we neared the end I prepared for a monster battle with Lucian but he died with a music box and simple gun shot. Peter cheated us dc, on top of all the broken promises he just cheated us. Giving us these stupid moral choices at the end of the game instead of a well deserved boss battle. And you never quite connected with your wife and kids, or the people of Albion for that matter. But then how could you? Your Character Doesn't Talk! The dog has more lines than you!

So how will we rule Albion when we won't even be able to speak with our loyal subjects? Peter says that "Judgment and Touch" will replace expression as our way of communication. It sounds very interesting but I'm just not going to allow myself to be hyped by Peter's nutty ambitions this time round.

Wahoo!! new FREE episode for Fable 2...
Fable II Episode I, the first of five, is now available for free on Live.
This is the full game broken out into parts. The first bit costs you nothing: the other four parts will be charged.
Still. Free Fable II. Get it for a measly 2Gb.
The game’s episodic release was announced at GamesCom in August.

A bit of speculation whenever Fable 3 will use Natal:
In an interview with Joystiq, Microsoft's Phil Spencer said he wouldn't be surprised to see Project Natal integration in Fable 3. Another person who wouldn't be surprised? The guy in charge of Fable 3. Peter Molyneux told Game Kings that he was "leaving the most exciting gameplay stuff for later." He then added, "I am going to say it's going to use a controller, but I've never said it's not going to use Natal."

"And obviously what would probably happen if I started talking about this is you would see a little red dot appear moving on my forehead," Molyneux continued. "And then as I would start to speak the words then there would be a shotgun fire, and I would be assassinated. Quite clearly, it is that sensitive." But not so sensitive that he can't quite nearly confirm it in the next breath.

"Do you really think, knowing me, as maybe you do over the years, I wouldn't want to use something like Natal? I mean, that's just mad, man." Let's just lay it out here: The guy responsible for basically the only known Natal project is going to put some Natal segments in Fable 3. We all know this. It's going to happen. Try to look surprised when it's announced at whichever trade show next year.

If anything Fable is the most suited core game for something like Natal. Fable 2 offered a lot of intercourse possibilities and some were even needed for the Demon Doors. On one hand side I'd find it awkward to dance in front of the TV so I can open a a Door, on the other side I can't help it but imagine how much of a laugh it would be doing it coop (or other stupid challenges for that matter). What do you think?
