Over 600 layers on the top. Still a work in progress.
Jim Rome: "Nobody owns anybody like Florida owns OSU."
Once you get a group of layers, you can't scale negatively in X or Y to get a mirror image.
So I copied my design to the left side of the car, went to the right side, and pasted the image to the right... MIRROR! Then you copy all those layers and then paste your mirror wherever.
I'll post something later on.

another noob bites the dust ...
Here is a jpeg, of our clan logo that I did in Photoshop.
And here is our clan logo on a car design I did after working on it for over 5 hours. My first attempt, but I'm happy with it.
What I'm unhappy about, is if I could have imported that design, I created in photoshop, I could have 5 hours of my life back. Its rewarding yet infuriating at the same time.
Give us importing of images in Forza 3!
Denying us this feauture isn't keeping people from making copywrited material or pornography, trust me.
the wolf was the hardest, then the OS text. The metal wings, were actually pretty easy.

I vastly prefer this to just having imported images, and the auction house only furthers the point that a nice looking car should involve some actual work.

Those who want to put 10 hours into a car design can and brag and be proud of their mad skills and how they are superior beings to everyone else can do so.
And those who just want a cool car in 5 minutes and know they have crap art skills can still get something cool out of the game.
The whole "incentive" and "reward only talented people" is the same pompus and arrogent gaming attitude that alienates more casual gamers. Is the point to show off your skills or to allow people to play games they like and get the results they want?
This was a huge issue in FPS games for a long time: You either were a quick draw and 1337 skills or you didn't play. So devs said: Hey, why not add objectives and classes. This way the gameplay doesn't evolve to random blood baths and people who are team players can contribute -- and PLAY!! -- games in a style that fits them.
The arguement of "only reward skill and practice" and "play my way or go home" is so Web 1.0. I thought this was a Web 2.0 game?
I am all for people showing off their cool art, but the idea that important prefabbed graphics is bad is wrong minded. The idea that you have to spend a lot of time and work to get a result is "good" panders to hardcore gamers who want to brag instead of catering to both sorts of gamers.
The fact people would resist features that make this cool feature in the game more accessible is...
The fans have spoken. Concerning the graphics of the Halo 3 Beta: "There's so many little effects and things going on that make this game pretty much 2nd only to Gears at the moment."
In a MMORPG, getting insane items is part of playing a complete boatload.. if you got those items at the start just to be "newbie friendly" I doubt there'd be much reward in presevering. Sure, there's a fine line between being pompous and enjoying a challenge, but that's true of any game mechanic in any game - and that's just what this has become; a game mechanic.
Besides, anyone can tell you it's a breeze to get a cool design going even if you've got "crap art skills". You won't make that MGS design maybe, but you can get a plenty cool looking car nontheless, one that's absolutely unique to only you.
(This discussion should prolly continue in the Forza Motorsport 2 thread so that images here are easily browsable like intended.)

Legal battles would probably have to settled somewhere in there. These cars would be on Xbox Live. So technically MS would be responsible for copyrighted photos appearing on their servers.
Not to mention nothing stops anyone from owning these awesome cars but their dedication to racing. A good racer can earn a mil CR in a day or more. And the game alienates people who aren't good at racing already, so I don't see how not letting n00bs import pictures of their genitals is a bad thing (we all know that would happen).

We're going to make a giant can opener, and open a giant can of whoop-ass!
This is still very much a WIP. I'm not too sure about the "Tetou" motif (monkey on the roof) and I dunno what car to put Gideon in (guy with glasses). I originally intended for both sides to be angles of the same pic so that you'd see the other character in the distance on both sides, but too much stuff got in the way and it all got messed up. The rocks on Gideon's side need to be de-cardboard cutout-ized aswell. :D
Phaethon, your dragon there inspired me to try and keep the sky consistent over the roof of the car too, whilst blending into the motif on the roof. Yours is way more seamless though. :)
Also, Freniger - that Master Chief is pretty wild. Keep us updated! :O
Actually, something I realise now is that I should've done this on a car with less bumpy surfaces. But Peugeot 207 is such a nice looking car. :(
