Still, looks awesome, and good job there Simon. But you know Simon, that picture you posted is overly compressed--by you it looks like. There is no way a picture that say will come out to be that bad looking. So get it together man, and stop using paint to resize your pictures, lol.

Well, I uh, I gotta say I'm not sure when that compression happened. I had to take a pretty zoomed out picture or it'd cut off the hood of the car, so then I just cropped the image to leave the car in view for this one. I must've sat on a cockup button at some point. I'll make sure future pics are cleaner! :)

Still don't have the game... but I'm sitting it out. Not until a price drop.
I searched a bit online and found the official FM3 forums where *a lot* of people were complaining about the same thing.. I cannot believe T10 (or MS whoever) came to this decision to force everybody to use their new "revolutionary" matchmaking system.. It's fun for casual gamers I bet, but for us a bit more serious racers that want to control what we race, and where, and with what settings it plainly sucks! All you are left with is private races, which is pretty much useless of you don't have dozens of people on your friendlist for that purpose (goes for 99,9% of all of us I bet)..
Major major mistake by T10!
People started a vote on the FM3 forums to hopefully get public custom online games back in.. I suggest all fans here vote there aswell, who knows it might help: http://forums.forzamotorsport.net/forums/1/3163918... (vote yes obviously)
Remember this is not a cry against the new matchmaking, it's just to get public custom games back in (next to the private ones).. And the ability to search for them offcourse (but that speaks for itself I think, although that's what I thought about public custom online games being in the game aswell *sigh*)..

Being able to setup a room with solid options to account for your current mood (or state of online players) was HUGE in FM2. e.g. Tonight me and a B3D guy were racing. Clearly a lot of newbs in matchmaking. All we needed to do was enable "ghost driving" because of the 8 people racing 3 thought it was bumper cars / destruction derby. This really made for frustrating racing.
Not being able to actually use all the AWESOME options they have is a pity. And it has a negative impact on the online component. While matchmaking worked for Halo 3 (pity their online features were also neutered) there is no reason a well functioning model in FM2 was abandoned.

Over 102 pages / 2020+ posts. They may not listen, but the more people who comment, "+1 Please bring back open custom lobbys" maybe we can effect change... for FM4.
The inability to tune between online races is another big issue for those into that. Kind of shocked system link is gone too (no way am I buying 4 copies of live for a local LAN setup!) I am missing the tournaments and more focused weekly events, too.
I hated matchmaking in Halo 3, and I am hating it even more in FM3 due to the fact so many tards ruin your race from the get go. :(

Probably the most enjoyable "races" in FM2 were the 90 lap Tsukuba drift events, were racing was really not important.

1) Turn10 said all the online features from FM2 were coming to FM3.
2) Turn10 stripped opened Public Lobbies, only allowing Match Making and Private Lobbies.
3) Result?
Exhibit A. Forza official forums were 80% of posters voting say MP is significantly broken and has little to no replay value.
Exhibit B. Over 2,400 posts since launch complaining about the Match Making system.
Exhibit C. Forza fans ran to IGN and other review sites leaving scathing reviews praising the game but making up for the bad PR and misleading/incompetent media reviews by rating the game, on average, less than 5 stars out of 10 with common titles like, "Perfect Racing Game, Completely Broken Online Play."
Match Making is closely tied to DLC, but in some cases it may actually lose money when you alienate a huge segment of your core fans. As of today Turn10 has said they have absolutely no plans of enabling public lobbies again. Reminds me of when Bungie's 11th hour stripping of the Custom Game Browser...

"Multiplayer matchmaking is the future of online console gaming and so far it's going well for FM3."
And then in response to the question of why can't we have both options, matchmaking and public games.
"Because we do not want to dilute the matchmaking system. The new system exists as a replacement of the old system. If you want custom lobbies, then organize some people to play in your own private lobby. Otherwise, play matchmaking."
What a bitch. I know I said I didn't play FM2 MP that much, and that the only thing I played was "drift events", and well that pretty much puts me at zero online time this time around with FM3. But I understand the huge disgust other people have. I've been there, and you just can't expect much from T10. You just have to wonder what stupidity they'll come up next with FM4--remove cockpit cam?

As much as I don't like the public face of this game, this is still so far the best console racing game out there by a long shot, so I would hope it sells well.

As an aside, while I doubt open lobbies hurt initial sales, open lobbies DOES kill word of mouth.

Same issue as PC gamers have with the online of CoD:MW2 really, in that version of the game common online standards were also taken away (in a even worse way).. And because of that it hurts me double as a gamer, because I was really looking forward to playing both FM3 on Xbox360 and CoD:MW2 on PC, and both games seriously dissapointed me with their online (a very important part of the game for me)..
As a result I'm a bit to gutted to game much atm.. I mainly play some Company of Heroes online with some friends.. Lets hope that and other future games will keep up to standards, and this is not some sort of new bad trend in the industry..

P.s. any news on the online MP in FM3? I haven't really played the game lately (dissapointment in online MP bassicly killed my inner drive to play the game).. I also fear MW2 on PC is heading in the same way for me (meaning no long live because of screwed up online MP).. Great games, but still dissapointed, how did they do it?!? Easy, screw with online MP (for more control and probably force more gamers into buying premium DLC)
