I did that with Crackdown for the Halo 3 MP BETA, but I don't think I'm biting this time unless Reach ends up looking something truly unbelievable.

I can imagine Bungie releasing some kind of Reach trailer just before Halo 3: ODST hits, to try and make fans take the bait.

I assume they will. What better way to sell ODST by telling them if you buy this game you'll get your hands on this other game before anyone else.

All I know is if those cool in helmet features aren't brought over to Halo Reach I'll be pissed.

There should be absolutely no reason a spartan doesn't have cool things like that going on inside his helmet.

you mean the GRAW like target recognition thing with the outlines? i'd rather that not be in halo reach tbh. it's one of the many reason i think ODST looks like crap.

I'm sure the fact that it's Halo isn't helping much either :P

It would be so cool if they added something like this to Halo I think.

At least give folks the option of turning it off if they find it obtrusive. Also, don't include it in MP.

As far as I know it's the night vision that outlines the enemies. And we've seen what the MP will look like: Just like Halo 3 MP.

We were talking about Halo: Reach, not ODST.

"At the time of those statements, the overall scope of Halo 3: ODST was not yet finalized, and since then the project has grown increasingly more ambitious. We believe this standalone experience is much more than just an expansion. Halo 3: ODST provides a new campaign from the point of view of an entirely new character. Combine that with three new multiplayer maps, the entirely new cooperative mode called Firefight, and the complete Halo 3 multiplayer collection on a standalone disc, we feel this is a good value and tremendous addition to the Halo franchise."
A five hour campaign + three whole new maps = more than an expansion..

lol

Is it still only supposed to be 5 hours long now? I thought that's what it was initially supposed to be, and the talk of it becoming more ambitious leads me to believe it will be longer.

At least I hope anyways.

If it's too much longer, it will be longer than Halo 3 :P

Honestly though.. $60 is a rip. They need to accept that there are still people who remember what an expansion pack is. That doesn't mean they can't charge whatever the fuck they want, but to dance around the issue and try to justify it just adds insult to injury.

Microsoft helped redefine the games market as an industry that charges an inflated entry fee for incomplete products. And while I still love my Xbox, this is the kind of shit that makes me pretty unhappy with their level of support.

But yeah.. I'm going to buy it anyway. :(

Halo fans will buy anything labeled "Halo: ____" and probably be completely satisfied with their purchase because Bungie always puts out a solid product. I would have a hard time forking over $60 for a 5 hour game, but it does come with all the DLC map packs and stuff... but if you already bought those, this seems kinda like a crap deal.

Louis Wu from HBO;-

As an aside, the original "3-5 hour" playtime estimated for the campaign portion of ODST (over a year ago) is no longer accurate, according to several Bungie employees; I couldn't get an exact value, but it seems that the standard player will find it not QUITE as long as Halo 3 - but not far off. So, while Bungie is not in charge of pricing the final product, most employees that I spoke to last week felt that fans wouldn't feel ripped-off once they'd gotten their hands on all that ODST has to offer. And that's a good thing.
Halo 3 can be a very short game if you smash through it in co-op or don't choose the right difficulty. My original Heroic playthrough was probably 8-9 hours, even having played the first 2.5 levels before it came out. I think ODST will be much the same thing, everyone's mileage will vary. They'll be people who lark around the open hub level and people who simply breeze from point to point.

$60 is far too much for 8-10 hours of gameplay. 3 MP levels is pathetic when you already own the other 21. This is "Halo 3: ODST" afterall. The number of really great games coming out is insane and the only reason I feel slightly motivated to get ODST is because every gamer on my friends list (whether they accept my invites or not you blimy English folks!! :P ) will be playing it.

Well 8-10hr SP games are the norm these days so that's not a reason i'd complain about with the price, i do however think $60 is taking the piss because this is an expansion and not a full stand alone game, what they should have done is given Halo ODST and a few new maps for $40 then another edition with ALL the maps for $60 this way those that have most of the maps already would not feel so screwed over, but like Acert said i'll be buying it anyway as i know all my mates and there dogs will be getting it.

PS the big red 18 logo is a mock up. I haven't seen it at all and that areas up in the air enough at the minute as it is.

About Gamersyde

Gamersyde is a commercial multiplatform web portal based in Europe, with hundreds of thousands of visitors each month from all over the world. We cover both handheld and video games platforms and the site has grown into one of the biggest gaming sites in the continent. We are able to offer fast news delivery and HD content from the upcoming games, and one of the greatest and friendliest gaming communities in the world. The HD content we provide always respects the original resolution and framerate of the games we capture, making Gamersyde the one and only place to get 1080p/4K/60fps videos with high bitrate. At a time when Youtube's subpar video compression has become the norm for most people on the Internet, we refuse to give up quality without a fight. We now also produce HDR videos, which can only be enjoyed by those who own compatible televisions. The content we produce is obviously not free of use should you want to upload our videos on your own website or YouTube channel.
