But once it was all in close quarters, then yeah the shooting was very fun.
I was surprised I saw spring in that game , even blur, which had a nice effect to it.

I see a lot of hype surrounding what looks like a technically inferior title.
I admit however that it does drip with a certain visual style that has a strong following. But I believe many people may be confusing visual flare with "good graphics".
Just my 2 cents.
We got cash money! :D

And gurilla have a lot to prove because every game i have played of theres, is "bad"
and as for this i dont like the dreary(i know its war and the world is doomed blah blah blah and dont come at me with what o you expect it to be colourfull like viva pinata) visuals, call of duty 2 was war, and by god it was fucking lovelly to look at, the is boring on the eye..
Ignore sath he was born in a testube and there was not room for the brain (joking ;))

STREET FIGHTER 4, BRING IT ON!
This is Killzone, and there are different planets, and in Helghan its torned apart, but it was looking not-dark-type before the event.

Remember how everyone thought MGS on the PSX looked amazing - and it did, but part of it was the gritty art style. The grays, dull green and blues, it all helped create a certain atmosphere that worked very well for the game.
Of course, using low color palettes like that is also a benefit for performance, since you save memory, bandwidth and GPU processing buy using textures with a lower color depth.
No need to have 32 or even 16 bit textures if you only need 8 or 4 bits of color. Instead of having multiple high quality shadow maps you use one low resolution map for everything - the results are jaggy shadows but the gritty / dark nature of the game helps hide that so visually it's acceptable. In any other game the shadows might look unforgivable.
And instead of using global lights and HDR you use lots and lots of spot lights and light maps. Say hello to ID software's Quake III arena technology all over again - but this time via a differed rendering method that cooks in the CELL and is served on RSX.
You get a gritty game with a low color palette, tons and tons of spot lights that produce nice contrast and you save a crap load of processing on the GPU side so you use that to add some post processing which is already common on many games. Paired with the right visual style it works and looks very good to anyone who likes gritty looking war games with high contrast textures and lighting.
Of course, if you look at it objectively, something like Rainbow Six utterly rapes KZ2, as do many other titles.
I'm not a terrible fan of the style myself. I find it interesting that people seem to think a war game should look like that just because many photos from old wars look very gritty / gray / blue / green - many movies have taken up using filters to give new films a distinctive hue - to give the impression that it's an old film of something that happened in the past.
Somehow, people seem to be making the mental connection that if some war film about WWII has a grayish / blue or green tint that that makes it look more realistic because old war pictures seem to have the same tint.
Doesn't anyone realize that old war pictures, movies and photos were taken with shit cameras on shit film? We didn't have 10+ mega-pixel digital cameras at the time and I can assure everyone that during war neither of the following happens.
1) The world becomes enveloped in a gritty gray / green / blue tint
2) Everyone on the battlefield suddenly loses the use of the full color spectrum accorded to human being under normal conditions.
As proof of this, using the miracle of modern video footage, I will prove to you that the world does not suddenly turn into a gritty gray / green / blue hue just because you're near soldiers in uniform with real guns - and a tank.
This is also pretty damn funny.... LOL
Enjoy. Real war has full spectrum color:

Now of course I understand this game takes place on another planet. But that's as crappy an excuse as to why the fucking aliens have two legs, two arms and a head with two eyes.
Not that I don't have an imagination - just saying... enough with the low color palettes. It doesn't REALLY hide the flaws in the graphics and not everyone likes it.
ItsOk
We get it, you dont like gritty war games and YOUR excuse is that the KZ2 graphics are hiding under the gray and gritty environment to hide its ugly part.
That is what I am getting from your "long" comment.
Besides that is "real war" because they went into real world.
Killzone 2 is a "fictional sci-fi war game" and not only that, it takes in another planet which just happened to be the native planet of the Helghast.
If you played the first Killzone (like I did) you will know that it has a long variety in environement like snow, rain, mountains, abandon stations, swamps, spacecrafts...etc.
But Rainbow Six has its own art, Halo got its own art, Crysis got its own...etc. every game has its own art from the idea and the world the developers wanted to create from the start.
Rainbow Six for example as you mention is REAL WORLD game, its not sci-fi.
Sc-fi (which I love) has its unique art, but it just happens Guerilla wanted Killzone to have that cold, war torned place.
It just happens that this particular demo that they wanted to show was the Helghast planet which if you even care about the games story it is dark and destroyed, but it was never like this.
I think its ridicolous to say that the graphics for KZ2 is trying to hide its ugly part into the gritty environment were this is a VERY early DEMO just to reveal to the world the engine and how it looks in real-time since all we saw was a CG to be faken as real, by some dumb ass by the name Jack Tretton (if that was his name).
*A New Form of Change*
And the footage was early. I shouldn't write off the technical aspects until we see the full game.
But if all the levels are gonna be dark then its gonna be a bit boring yes.

Mass Effect - Nov 07 - Start the Fight!!!
Bitches!!
Online multiplayer yes, but co-op I have no idea.
I do hope so though, you take the role of Sev (mohawk and beard :P) and if Rico is with you all the time then it would be nice to have 2 player co-op on/off-line.
If even that, in the demo they had this 4 characters in that air transportation vehicle, so they could be all like a unit, so 4 player would be awesome for sure.
I hope Guerilla picks up the modern feature of FPS and add co-op online...one way or another.
