I never actually bought the first game, despite being majorly impressed by what I had played, but I'll definitely be buying this.
Mods, stop changing my SIG! I'm going to end up banning you!
What is that some sort of Gremlin or a Zombie Jockey?

I can already foresee the hilarity when me and some buddies are playing and one of us gets erm... 'horsebacked'... by the Jockey.

Support with content and updates has been a lot better from Valve in the past (on PC)..

For now though, mark down October 27 on your calendars, Left 4 Dead fans. The game itself will be available for Xbox 360 and PC on November 18.

Prepare To Drop!!
I hope it goes up this afternoon and not this evening. I sorta wanna play it.
I still need to actually play L4D, so I'm not in a hurry to buy it.. anyone down for some campaign L4D1 at some point?
I think i have stood in poo
The official Steam group says the public demo comes out at 11pm. I hope that's inaccurate. I mean, come on.. it's out on Xbox and they already let people pre-load it and obviously the pre-order demo is very playable :(

Must. Download. Now.
In many ways I think I'm going to love L4D2 more than L4D.
The new characters are a hoot, weapons can now be upgraded (silencers, laser sights, etc.), new weapon types and new items like the defibrillator paddles are awesome, the Director AI 2.0 is a lot more aggressive and sadistic than the original, often throwing three or four boss infected against you at once . . . in the middle of being bum-rushed by the infected horde. Mentioning, infected hordes (like when you set off a car alarm) feature almost double the infected, and there is something altogether satisfying about dismembering them limb-from-limb with a machete.
Probably my favorite new thing in the whole game is getting my hand of Boomer bile (in a jar). This stuff is really good against Witches and especially Tanks. Hit'em with the jar of bile, and watch the entire infected horde turn against them doling out massive damage - not to mention, making it hard for the boss in question to move, making them and all the infected attacking them, easy targets once the bile begins to wear off . . . doubly so if someone in your group lobs a molotov into the pile of infected, as the Boomer bile begins to wear off.
New weapons like the new assault rifle and the silenced SMG, are also very satisfying to use. Forming new strategies for dealing with the new bosses (like having to spread out, and attach from different positions to fight chargers, as chargers can knock your whole group down if you are all too close together when they attach), adds refreshing twists on game play, as well as add slightly more depth to the risk reward equation in the game. Similar choice between picking up a medipak vs. picking up defib paddles.
Overall, judging by the demo, Left 4 Dead 2 is a much better game than the original. I know that among a very vocal minority, there is a lot of worry that L4D2 is not a true sequel and should be added as an expansion to L4D, but after playing the demo, I'd definitely have to disagree with them. There is so much more in L4D2, it definitely does not fall into the expansion pak category. Just like L4D, L4D2 is a day one purchase for yours truly.

I can sorta see why some people won't be too over the moon with what's offered here, but the truth is that it's what everyone loved about L4D with a lot more thrown in. True fans of the series should be grateful for that.

I'll just wait for a killer sale on Steam anyway, just like I did for the first game. I won't have paid a combined $50 for the two when all is said and done.
Played a bit.. man.. Source still impresses me. The game is pretty. A smart mix of tech upgrades and bril art direction.
