The art in this game is just beyond incredible. Probably close to the end of disc 3 and I'm still impressed beyond belief with all that I'm seeing.

Yea, thing is reviewer won't blame the UE3 engine just like they didn't with Mass Effect, it seems UE3 either gives long loading times like this game, or short ones with texture pop in like ME.

I know which I prefer, I think texture pop in is the worst thing ever (it annoys me more than framrate problems), thankfully this game has no texture pop in problems.

Who gives a shit about long load times or texture pop-ins!! is the game great? thats all that matters to me, and i'm sure the reviewers will ultimatly be swayed by this also, if the story is great it will go along way to getting positive reviews.

Even with a good story there is no way the gaming press over here is giving this game great reviews lol. I expect average 75-76 on metacritic.

The load times honestly aren't that bad to me to be honest. I'm personally loving the game's story with the feeling i'm missing a lot from the text only dialogs I can't read, but I loved blue dragon's story too and the press didn't agree. I think Lost Odyssey is significantly better than Blue Dragon, but even so I expect similar scores.

i'm not to sure of that ops, if the game story is great they will mention this, if they then mark it down for technical things then so be it, but if the story is great i will be buying and playing my first jrpg for sure.

Thats the problem I think there is no way they'll like the story because I get the impression these mistwalker 360 titles will continue to be judged under a totally different and unfair criteria.

I thought blue dragon's story was really good, but reviewers totally dogged the game's best aspects and made criticisms that were contradicted even by actual story events in the game. So I think if they ignored blue dragon's best aspects and turned them into negatives whats to stop them from doing the same with lost odyssey.

Marumaro was a highlight that was turned into this huge negative I'll never understand it. Then again lost odyssey has violence so that alone should earn it an extra .5 from reviewers.

Let's not jump to conclusions :D with a more mature direction, I think the game stands a much better chance at satisfying the western critique. I expect a 7/10 from Edge.

Well its not just the loading times, the framerate can be a bit bumpy at times and the fights can be a bit jerky at the start of a battle.

Its gives the impression that the game was rushed when in actual fact its probably more to do with a fault with the Unreal engine.

I think the story is good its not awesome ...oh my god, although disc one is pretty awesome, for someone like yourself who isn't used to JRPGs i think you will enjoy it.

I am expecting this game to get 7's in reviewers but thats only because I know what Blue Dragon got.

I haven't had as much fun with this game as BD by the way so take that for what its worth, although the game is actually much better fleshed out and graphically superior.

I always thought with BD that the story was kicking along quite nicely, this however gets very sparse from the middle of disc 2 to disc 4 its almost as if they filled 2 discs up with random battles and area's that you just had to visit for the hell of it.

I just started playing KUF:COD and may do some vids :D

Even BD have 78. I think revievers even did not finished empty with story 1st disk of BD
and LO have very much story in 1st disk I see. I hope it will get 90 on metacritic

Oh Dear! So They tried to make it more lengthy by stuffing more battles in ? That's the same way I felt with Eternal Sonata towards the last third of the game when all I was doing was pressing A and A and A and A ..... it felt like decades.

Let's hope the ending picks the game up and wrapps it up brilliantly hopefully.

Jolli regarding story you don't get the impression you're missing a LOT of important information in the text only conversations with no voice acting?

I feel i'm missing tons of story at those moments. In every jrpg I've played those moments were truly key to my understand of the story and very important bits of information were given to me at those points.

Alimo thats one of the major things my friend spoiled for me :( I think it sounds fantastic, but it sucks that I found out when I did :/

No not really, most of the text is refering to what to do next, the story is conveyed by the voiced work.

There isn't a great deal of text stuff unless you talk to NPC's etc.

I don't know about that because from my playtime I've seen a number of instances where the players have stopped and talked about something and I wasn't sure what they were talking about and the timing of some of them make me suspect they could be story related.

Most of all some of the few bits of evidence i had about the split in blue dragon (you know what I mean) actually came from speaking to an npc. In a lot of jrpgs I've played speaking to npcs always seemed to play a key role in adding to the story. I'm really liking the story so far, but I think being able to understand the text dialog would be vital in filling in other key aspects. The most important conversations in ff7 for example didn't always come from the most important cutscenes.

Not sure, but I believe some key information about zack came from visiting a small town and speaking to people there.

True, but that part in zack's home I think wasn't even highlighted as an important cutscene I think had i not spoken to those people I could've completely missed that or maybe I'm not remembering clearly enough not sure. :)

HOLY CRAP with spells that look like that who needs summons! :P
