Once the group fought through to Thane's target, we were treated to another interactive cutscene. In addition to the conversation wheel that Mass Effect brought to the table, the sequel adds a prompt that flashes in the lower left corner of the screen. Hit a button at the right time and you'll affect cutscenes as they play out. In this case, Shepard punched a guard through a window and then watched him fall about 100 stories to the ground below. I put in my notes after this point, "Shepard is a badass." I can't think of a better way to describe him now, so I'll leave it at that.

And then Thane made his entrance. This guy is a new alien species with a look that is somewhat similar to Saren's Turian race. His leathery face was covered with a heavy shell mask, his eyes sunken, hollow and black in a manner that was both sad and fear-inducing simultaneously. Thane made his entrance by taking out his mark and then praying for his soul before confronting Shepard's crew. We didn't get a chance to see how the scene would play out, but we were told that once again important characters can die.

The combat has been tweaked a bit.
BioWare is promising improvements in all areas of Mass Effect 2 including the exploration aspects. Most of this was kept under wraps for now, but we were told to expect new levels of interactivity and richer areas to explore. For a brief moment, Hudson teased one such area. It was a lush, jungle planet that looked just like any typical main planet from the first Mass Effect.

Mass Effect 2 is a visual stunner. The city vistas that showed the sun filtering through the building are awe inspiring. The cinematic cutscenes are better than ever. And, best of all, I didn't notice a single bit of slowdown or texture load issues through the entire live demo. From what I saw, there is no reason to believe that this sequel won't surpass the original in just about every way.
SWEET!!

Nice, I'll probably replay it 5 times to get the most important twists in the game done different, over and over again. ^^

Damn right, Mass Effect 2 is going to be just incredible. No slowdown, no texture load issues. Flawless performance, much better graphics all around, much better gameplay, improved art, much improved look of side quest explorable planets and from the g4tv segment they are more concerned with actually making what you do in sidequests play a role in affecting the overall story.

Two years after Commander Shepard repelled invading Reapers bent on the destruction of organic life, a mysterious new enemy has emerged. On the fringes of known space, something is silently abducting entire human colonies. Now Shepard must work with Cerberus, a ruthless organization devoted to human survival at any cost, to stop the most terrifying threat mankind has ever faced.

To even attempt this perilous mission, Shepard must assemble the galaxy’s most elite team and command the most powerful ship ever built. Even then, they say it would be suicide. Commander Shepard intends to prove them wrong
- New Race, Vorcha. probably used by mercenaries

- Maximum of 12 recruitable teammates

- 19 different weapons (!)

- Shepard works WITH Cerberus in stead of against it. Then WHO is the new villain?!

Its finished but they should upload it soon i hope, as it showed the car cutscene and the interrupt feature plus you could spot the new grid map loading hide animations, then it showed the same combat section G4 showed yesterday, the graphics are now even more amazing and there were no frame drops or texture popin's anywhere to be found :)

Spotted something VERY cool in that last video icemanu!!

You can choose what kind of bullet you want to use in the wheel menu now where you use to only be able to choose what abilities you wish to use :D

Very cool.

Now maybe this may be some sort of super shield or hack they got going on, but did they go and make the shields even more useful? One of the things I felt could've been more evidence is just how useful the shields were. They were there and then gone in no time it seemed under the right circumstances. It seems they made them more durable this time around for the purpose of greater enjoyment. When I was reading the books and the shields were depleted, that was a VERY big deal so I guess they are making the shield more useful so the player actually feels more safe with it on. Then again, I powered up my shields pretty nicely in the first game :)

OMG!!!

Just wow, i got lost in the cinematic conversation, it all looks so amazing, i have just watched a bunch of old ME1 vids for comparison and although i still think it looks great, this craps all over it. Mirander looks a bit crazed? but i with you on the getting to know her better.

@ Ops - Your right i think the combat is looking much more like it reads in the books which is great.

Hot damn. The conversation system is awesome - that interruption feature is really going to add a new dynamic to the cutscenes.

But all of this is really making the first game seem almost incomplete, even rushed. You just look at everything they're adding, from the intense combat to the fantastic graphical enhancements, and I think we could be looking at the best game this generation. I really do.

Yep Bioware is saying that everything that they wanted to put into the first game is making it into this game. They may have even left out certain story details purposely until they could deliver the game they truly wanted.

Up to 12 people in your party.
19 different weapon types.

Man.. this game is going to be so awesome.

Also yea that new girl in sheperd's party looks like a bundle of fun :)
