New ME2 character, now thats more like it!!

http://uk.gamespot.com/xbox360/rpg/masseffect2work...
Again, she's like Thane. Why are all of these powerful people surrendering themselves and their skills to Shepard? They have to have their own private agendas. Watch out for backstabbing!!!

So let's check the list again-

1-Miranda (sexy information courier)
2-Jacob (former alliance soldier)
3-Tali (my favorite Quarian in the galaxy)
4-Thane (bad ass drell assassin)
5-Grunt (Wrex wannabe)
6-Subject Zero (biotic Tank woman)
7-Garrus (Turian C-Sec)
8-Mordin (Salarian Scientist)
9-Legion (rogue Geth)
10-Samara (possibly an Asari Matriarch)

Now if Liara is confirmed as we've been told then that only leaves room for Ashley or Kaidan, depending on who you either let live or die in ME1.

Liara has not been confirmed as a squad member nor has Garrus, only that they will be in ME2 in some form or another, my guess is some of your old squad will be recruitable and the rest will play a different role?

You're 100% right. Liara, Ashley/Kaidan, Wrex are all non-recruitable. We may be able to interact with them as we did with Anderson and other non-playable characters, but nothing more. I went over to the Bioware forums, they set me straight and someone gave me this quote from an IGN interview-

"The way we have designed the in-game designs is to have an indirect impact on the player. It's not like you will have a completely different experience depending on what you do. It is more the flavouring of the experience which is significantly affected: it's not like you can destroy the experience by fooling around with your decisions. However, the people you interact with could make your power base on a certain planet completely different. We do have to limit ourselves because if you have too much variability the challenge of building new content becomes too high."
I'm not going to cast any judgments but I have to tell you dc, I was instantly disappointed after I read this paragraph. Basically Bioware is backing away from everything they promised about the impact of our decisions. I mean the Bioware devs absolutely hyped this shit up to incredible proportions and now they're saying "It's not like you will have a completely different experience depending on what you do"

Forget the love stories that some ME fans are whining like babies about, the love relationships really didn't matter to the overall plot of ME1. I would have liked to keep Wrex, Liara and Ash in my party but they really don't have to be recruitable for me to know if Liara and my Shepard had a baby or if Ash ever stopped behaving like a xenophobe, or if Shepard was ever able to help Wrex find a cure for the genophage.

Getting involved with Ash or Liara was always just an available option that was open to us, we didn't actually have to get involved with anyone. But I thought my decisions not to let Ashley die or allow her to kill Wrex was and would be important decisions that impacted my ME2 experience. Now we're learning that not only did those decisions not matter, but the decisions you make in ME2 aren't going to have a significant impact on the way that game plays either. I mean all of this talk about characters that might leave if they see you behaving too much like a Renegade or a Paragon was all bullshit I guess.

That being said, the new characters seem to be way better than the old squad and I really hope I have good interaction with Ash, Liara and Wrex and that they don't just make cameo appearances the way Bastilla and Carth did in KOTOR-TSL. I'd like my interactions with them to be elements that further advance the story.

So it looks like just one more member and the party is complete-

Miranda
Jacob
Thane
Grunt
Mordin
Sub-Zero
Samara
Legion
Tali

Yes I read that interview already, it was great I and found it highly informative. But I really wasn't paying attention to the language Bioware has been using. When they mention that old party members were in "the story", I incorrectly assumed that meant they were also recruitable. So my mistake, also my disappointment.

But I'm cool with the whole thing already, got over all my issues with all of the new shooter elements that have been added as well as the the axed ME1 party members. All Bioware had to do was not hype us about the game saves and there wouldn't be all of the whining that's going on over at the ME2 forums right now.

There not whining that much and its the same members whining over there, but you get that with any game that has a great fan base, hell over on the Bungie Reach forum you would not believe the level of whining going on about Reach and nothing has even been announced yet :), With ME2 I'm not to bothered as long as i still get a great game, personally i wish they would up the squad numbers you can take with you from 2 to 3, but thats my only gripe really.

Xenophobic. And yes, Ashley was all of them. I hated everything about her, the way she talked, she was the peasant girl that never had anything interesting to say.

Liara was the shit, though.

oh snap!! 2 disk this must be good! if DA / Oblivion / Fallout can fit on 1 disk and we know ME has no CGI this must mean way more game content?

posted by me2 dev on forum:

1 - Yes, there are 2 game discs for both the PC and Xbox 360 versions, both the Collector's and standard editions.

2 - There is a 3rd disc with the Collector's Edition. This is a movie DvD containing making of and other bonus information.

3 - The PC version is a standard install. You install the information from both discs and then play with 1 disc in the drive. No swapping.

4 - The Xbox 360 does not have an install and does require disc swapping during play.

5 - Even though there is a disc swap, it occurs at a carefully planned place in the game (that does not interfere with gameplay) and is done once. You do not swap back and forth. 1 swap and then done.

6 - Why 2 discs? Answer: Because you cannot fit this much awesome on one disc.

Disc-swapping doesn't bother me one bit. I mean, it takes all of 10 seconds to do if I do it slowly.

Sure.. but why not allow disc 2 to be installed? I've often wondered why ODST didn't allow the same.

I dunno... it'd be a nice option for those interested. If I don't have to swap back and forth, then I'd rather not bother with the install.... unless texture pop-in is still evident and installing eliminates it.
