Except it's still pretty much the same armour and the customisation pieces make no difference to the game at all. You can go through the entire game with the default armour and have no negative side effects, i mean wtf difference does +5% dmg make or else 5% health in the same slot, it's so negligable that it isnt even worth worrying about. There are also some vital pieces that you cant really swap out, like the +ammo, you run out of ammo like crazy in this, especially early on, without the added clips you end up cycling weapons till theyre all mostly exhausted.
The look doesnt change much either, there were some crazy awesome different armours in the first version, and each could be equiped to several squad mates, u get 1 alternate outfit per squad mate, and thats only if you do their quest line.

As i said, the RPG side of the combat / choice is severely limited in this. Don't get me wrong, the game is damn fun, but they removed things that made me love ME1 and that annoys me immensely.

Played the game for the last couple hours and love it!!! The combat is awesome (playing as soldier, assault rifle is f***ing awesomeness in the purest form), the world, characters are top notch, just like in ME1. The game just sucks you in and doesn't let go. Personally I'm not bothered with lack of inventory, ammo clips or lack of armor customization (I'm running around in Collectors armor anyway - sexy look + nice stats :>) because the gameplay is just too good to be bothered with them. However, there are two things that are bothering me: number of skills (really, they dropped a ball with it, my soldier has 5 skills, and 3 of them are different ammo types) and lack of weapon stats - there is only vague description of a weapon and its effectivness with no stats whatsoever. Those are important elements and should have been expanded but thanks god the game makes up for them in other departments.
In short: buy it, play it, enjoy it. It's god damn brilliant game and so far, for me, it lives up to the hype.

God why am I in here, AAAH *tunnel vision!*

I just wanted to ask, since it's my last chance to pre-order this, if there are any worthwhile things with the pre-order bonuses. Dead Space had a suit, but it was totally overpowered and just raped the game, so I'm not keen on that armor you get for ME. Are there any other bonuses for pre-orders than that one?

i think it's more in people's interest to relax and get the game when they feel it's what they want to do.

If they can't experience the whole game without getting it on day one, then there is no point. It can't be that special of an add on.

The pre-orders are way too powerful if you ask me, and this is another example of how I feel Bioware took ME2 and mass appealed it for a larger audience. Not just for fans of shooters but also for Casual gamers who may want to run and gun through this game without too much difficulty. The PO armors will certainly allow them to do that. So I guess here is where I say that the PO armors were probably not made with Core gamers in mind.

Bioware may need to consider a patch for the POs, but not for how powerful they are. The problem is that we can't take off the helmets of any of those armors at all, so naturally if you wear any of them you won't be able to see your Shepard's face during the game. Most of us won't have an incentive to use them if they obscure our character's faces.

Considering how I feel about the PO armors now............you're absolutely right. I have all of the armors and I don't want to use any of them.

Ah, just like Dead Space then. Me and Dommie had WILDLY different experiences with that game because his was borked by the super suit you got with the pre-order. My power code for InFamous is still un-entered for that very reason.

Will hold off buying this until I'm ready to play it then, thanks for the heads up.

You don't have redeem the code for those armors if you don't want to, but certainly do what you feel is best.

The atmosphere in this game is sooo much improved! I like to call it an RPS. Role playing shooter. I wish all shooters were like this! Not necessarily all RPGs, but all shooters. Incredible. It also looks much better and performs MUCH better! LOVE IT!!

My copy came today. Started a new game and played for a couple of hours and the game is good, albeit markedly different from the first.

I still need to go back to ME1 though. I noticed enough things that would be influenced by ME1 decisions and more-over the defaults were decisions I would not have made!

As in, Udina can fuck off as the human council member, WHO would pick that? I also left Ashley to rot on Virmire.. These wrongs need to be righted.

The question I have however is if you saved the council in ME1, how does that get handled in ME2?

Go MASS EFFECT GO!!!
BIOWARE’S MASS EFFECT 2 HAILED AS 1st BLOCKBUSTER OF 2010

Game Earns Rave Reviews, Sells 2Million Units in Week One

Guildford, UK (January 29, 2010) – Forty perfect scores. Two million units. One pop culture phenomenon. BioWare™, a division of Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS), announced today that Mass Effect™ 2 has sold-in over two million units worldwide in its first week of release*. Lauded for its intense shooter gameplay and deep, hand-crafted story, Mass Effect 2 has earned an average review score of 96** — making it the second highest rated game of all time on the Xbox 360 platform***. Mass Effect 2 has earned 40 perfect scores, amassed over 30 editor’s choice awards and is donning the front cover of 20 magazines worldwide. On launch day, the term “Mass Effect” was in the top 10 trending topics on Twitter and most searched on Google News. MSNBC.com said, “Mass Effect will go down as one of the most influential video game series of all-time.”

Dr. Ray Muzyka, co-founder, BioWare and Group General Manager of the RPG/MMO Group of EA said, “Mass Effect 2 is poised to be one of the biggest games of 2010. We could not be more proud of the game’s universal acclaim and early commercial success.”

Mass Effect 2 launched this week hot on the heels of BioWare’s Dragon Age: Origins, the studio’s dark fantasy RPG which shipped in fall 2009. Dragon Age: Origins has earned an average review score of 91****, making it the highest rated original intellectual property from EA in the last year. Mass Effect 2 follows in BioWare’s tradition of delivering excellence on every front: gameplay, story, character development and visuals. Mass Effect 2 is an epic shooter/RPG set in a vast universe filled with dangerous alien life and mysterious, uncharted planets. In Mass Effect 2, players step into the role of the heroic Commander Shepard, leading a crew of some of the most dangerous operatives from across the galaxy on a mission so challenging that it’s potentially suicidal. Featuring intense action, a rich storyline, space exploration and engaging character interaction, Mass Effect 2 delivers an unparalleled gaming experience.
