I'm waiting for you guys to finish up so we can talk about it a bit. I really didn't post a spoiler underneath those two black lines, but I don't blame anyone for not looking if they didn't want to.

Yeah this is a fantastic game but there's one thing that I'd like to change Doom, and that is the end of these 3 game sagas. These 3 game story arcs are getting to be too much, and in Bioware's case they borrowed way too much material from other stories to finish Mass Effect 3. I would have appreciated a little more originality and creativity for the finish such a great game.

I think I'd like to see more one shot stories instead of these long protracted story arcs that go on for years and then the developer scrambles desperately to try to come up with a decent ending that wraps everything up.

And I'm pretty sure that Bioware blew up the Mass Effect universe to set the stage for the next series. That's just not right, they should have concentrated on the ending of THIS story first

I'm still dealing with shock of how they chose to end everything. I don't think I'll ever play the first two games ever again, it's very clear that nothing I did mattered. And I don't know how much replay value ME3 has, no matter what you do the endings are all virtually the same. LOL! The illusion of choice has been lifted as the final moments of the game places everything on rails.

I ask you this question Doom because you already played and liked this game as much as I did. Would YOU have accepted the final options offered to Shepard, knowing that they came from the galaxy's greatest murderer? They weren't choices, not really. Shepard is basically taking the options that he has been ALLOWED to take. That's just another kind of control, like the Citadel or the Relays. ALL of these choices can be viewed as traps anyway. DESTROY turns Shepard into a mass murderer and the individual responsible for setting back the entire galaxy. SYNTHESIS is just madness and involves fucking MAGIC!!!. Not only does it not belong in this story, it makes Shepard a grand hypocrite because it VALIDATES Saren's motivations in ME1. If you choose Synthesis then Saren was RIGHT all along. CONTROL debatably just resets the chess board for the cycles of destruction to continue in the future.

What ME3 needed was a 4th option where Shepard tells the Catalyst to go to hell and the Crucible worked in shutting down the Reapers. Then you have the galaxy that Shepard united (but failed) to save Earth, come together to help the last remnants of humanity rebuild. I could accept that, it means that Shepard didn't have to accept the options and continued control of the Catalyst.

Remember that the Catalyst reveals that the Reapers are only doing this to keep organics from building synthetics. I wish that you could have heard how loud I was laughing when that plot point was finally revealed. LOL!!!!

I AGREE!!!
Shooters...sci fi...so good!

I am hoping so Prey 2 turns out great, I love the atmosphere of that. Similair to Blade Runner/Mass Effect (Omega)/Star Wars Eisode 2 assassin chase.
And the character is very nimble, movement and momentum during a chase, really nice.

Anyways, so far I am loving Mass Effect 3.

I dunno about lazyness... well, part lazyness maybe. After watching the ending of ME3 - never had any real motivation to buy it, despite the masterpiece that was ME1 (didn't get very far in ME2) - and placing it in the context of the entire game/series, I don't think it can be seen as anything other than something of a cop-out.

To me, it's like they built up this grand story arc but didn't really know where they ultimately wanted to take it... I could of course be wrong, but the final moments just didn't really resonate with the rest of the series (from what I've seen and been told). The ending was essentially a confined space; you had 3 choices but in reality there was only 1 outcome. I can therefore see why people would be so upset with it and want it to be changed, because the very notion of CHOICE - something the series has consistently championed and based itself on - was essentially taken away and became nothing more than a mirage. It also seems pretty clear to me that it was more of a means of them making sure there is still the opportunity to deliver more games set within the universe.

Now this is me talking about the game's ending from a purely outside perspective, with little affection for how it was going to end (more intrigue than anything else). But I'm also someone who appreciates narrative and plot, and I can absolutely see why the ending didn't weigh up in comparison to the rest of the story.

The fact is people will always want and a worthy conclusion, no matter how amazing the journey to get there was.

Well, it's a highly anticipated 'AAA' title... I think everyone would have been astonished if it had scored less than 90 on the Metacritic scale.

EDIT: I'm not saying it doesn't deserve those kinda scores (I haven't played it), I'm just saying that video game reviews are probably the least trustworthy of all.

Yeah the game is Brilliant!, not had this much fun and immersion since ME1/ME2, cant wait to get back home and play it some more. :)

I have no problem with 3 game story arcs, i've enjoyed every chapter of Mass Effect, not got to the end of ME3 yet, but its clear that ME4 will go in a new and fresh direction, which i cant wait for and will def be on new hardware.

There was times in DX HR that was fun, but overal it became boring later on. And the dialogue conversations was bullshit to watch. It wasent "alive" and engaging as Mass Effect series. It was like watching waolls talking with twitchy necks and ugly facial animations.

But I did like Jensen's model though, in CGI lol

Great music!!!

True enough blmbox, but what you're talking about is totally symptomatic of what happens the longer you take to tell your story. It also happens with tv series that run longer than they should. THIS is why I think Bioware should abandon the idea of doing another trilogy and just tell one-shots epics. The longer they drag these story arcs out, the more difficult it is to tie everything together into a neat bow for completion.

It's a shame it ended this way, because this game was one hell of an awesome ride. I did see the DLC message at the end. But the idea is laughable because they blew everything up

I kind of apologise because it makes it sound like I'm making excuses for them. I'm not, and will never be able to sympathise with anyone who doesn't deliver storytelling throughout its entirety.

In many ways, if an ending sours the entire experience then that tells its own story.

I understood you the first time. And allow me to make myself clear as well.......we didn't need THREE games to find out that the only reason the Reapers are harvesting organics is to keep us from building synthetics. So yes, these endings are a let down. But I still enjoyed the game, I just may skip the endings on my next imported save.

That's kind of my point though. A game which has an ending that you feel you have to skip in order to enjoy it doesn't really convey good storytelling.

It's like a cake with awful tasting icing. Fair enough, you can take the icing off the cake, but that doesn't change the fact that the icing was meant to be there in the first place (and essentially ruins the taste of the whole cake).
