I agree that the problems should be fixed, not removed. ME2 feels very dumbed down compared even to the very light RPG elements found in 1 and that's saying something.
Thank you :)

Mass Effect was never a heavy RPG it invented its own cinematic action/rpg genre, and i love it!, i also love me some old skool Oblivion / D.A and the likes. It is sad that we will never get to see any really deep Baulders and KOTOR type games again on the consoles, but sales dictate what Studios are willing to take a chance on these days, so i think those days are gone.

I know it was not heavy on it, but thats no excuse to lighten the load even more so.

I am not saying the game is bad, i was just angry that they changed so much so dramaticly, it was not the experience i was expecting, same problem most people had with alan wake.

As i said sales (AND EA) dictate what dev studios do these days, i mean if the rumors of ME.3 having MP are true that really is the EA rape machine in effect.

Oh, of course it is. ME is pretty much the only RPG I can play nowadays. All I want when I come home in the evening is to kick back and enjoy myself. Everything else requires hours spent getting started and then hours spent in menus throughout the game, figuring out wtf you're supposed to do and how each and every item works. Fuck that.

Why can't there be an RPG that doesn't burden me with that shit? ME2 had everything I ever wanted from an RPG: Great characters, great dialogues, some choices, leveling and classes, interracial sex everything in front of an epic background and backstory.

I'd understand if you were all up in arms if the first game didn't turn out to be such a turd in terms of collecting equipment and exploration in general. But it didn't and Bioware changed it for the better. And if it means they can make even more great games because their games become more successful more power to them.

Bioware went too extreme with everything after everyone complained. Even IGN lists it in their "what to do in 3" article, and IGN are typically fools.

To me if Mass Effect 3 pushes where 2 went from 1 even further it'll become too generic and boring for me. I LIKE investing all that time with menus and tons of weaponry, and a cool ability tree system. The longer I am in the Mass Effect world the better. It means I'm more connected, more invested, and feel the impact of moving through each game that much more because I had my hands in everything and every choice. In 2 customizing armor was pretty much stripped out of the game. The ability tree in 2 was also so simplistic it was ridic, they might as well have removed that too. 2 was just an action game with some conversation with little to no impact made from what you did in 1.
All this streamlined, easy to swallow bullshit that's taking over is getting too much. I am so reluctant to buy most games nowadays because of it.

This trend started a long f'n time ago. It's definitely reached new lows this generation. There hasn't been a "hardcore" FPS in five+ years.

Mass Effect 2 is unbelievable; I'm actually playing it from time to time on my PC when I get the chance. I need to finish it. I watched that trailer against my better judgment, hoping to not get spoiled. Luckily there wasn't much anything in there I hadn't already fully anticipated.

I definitely agree. So many franchises are falling because they are becoming susceptible to "accessibility" and making more money. Prince of Persia is the easiest one I can list.
I also agree on the FPS genre. I recall an FPS game having many years of life, communities, clans, etc. It is all but extinct now. Now we just get new sequels released in short time spans, abandoned online services, and terrible gimmicks over quality. Just because a game is smashed full of random shit doesn't make it good.
BFBC2 is the closest thing in recent memory to come close to what fps used to be. One can't help but worry about what direction it is headed in though. More devs should be ripping off Bungie's matchmaking system and amazing consumer support.

Not really. BC2 is horrifically "streamlined" considering its roots. At least COD4 was (and still is) playable in competition.

Yeah I didn't say it wasn't by any means, and made mention of its direction. I can still see 1942 when I play the game though (esp in 1943), which is why I do enjoy playing it so much.

If that is going to be the suit/armor then I cant help but to feel a little disapointed, I mean the jump from the first one to the second one was like night and day in details, I see no such jump here, only a few little more detailed suit interior and thats it.
