And I'm kind of confused by some of things I've been seeing and reading. The Reapers are here! THIS IS IT, the galaxy is under attack! And Shepard has to go out and recruit people? I'm sorry but you would think that everyone with a gun or some kind of tech or biotic ability would be banging on the hull of the Normandy to become apart of Shepard's crew. I mean seriously, does it make any sense to any of you for Shepard to waste time going through dossiers while Earth is being sucked into the Reaper vacuum cleaner? Is he also going to have to take time out to solve his squad mates "personal issues" like in ME2 just so that he can earn their loyalty in an effort to make them better team mates against the greatest threat in the entire galaxy?
Have the writers at Bioware all gone dumb? Look I like cinematic, epic bad-assness just as much as the next gamer, but not at the expense of an intelligently written plot.

Another example [SPOILER] you will be wanting the Batarians help but after their general dislike of humankind and after the events of the DLC Arrival they will not be in the least bit helpful so you will have to find a way of getting them on side.

Shepard- Earth is under attack!
Miranda- I need to go find my father.
Garrus - I need to kill somebody first.
Jack- I need to blow something else up.
The same thing for dossiers. Shepard shouldn't be picking up anyone who isn't ready to go, he also shouldn't have to play Dr Phil with his squad mates at this point. It's the 11th hour, either these people are committed to the task of taking on the Reapers or they don't belong on the Normandy. The thing is Bioware has most recently demonstrated that they're just dumb enough to do it this way.

the lighting and shader quality is very poor. I am replaying Uncharted 2 right now and that game destroys this visually...where's the SSAO? And the post processing quality is very poor as well

This article gave me the exact opposite reaction, instead of being upset I actually laughed. What else could they do? The game is already a shell of it's former self, you couldn't do much else other than add multiplayer (one reason for the delay) or just make it an all out shooter. They've already re-booted the series in the middle of the trilogy, I can't imagine it being re-booted again just for a larger audience. Then there is the fact that there's only so much you can do to make an RPG more appealing to the shooter crowd. Most gamers who primarily play shooters admit that they don't even play the SP campaign, they go straight for the multiplayer. So when it comes to RPGs where the SP campaign is the entire driving force behind the game, how do you make this more appealing to gamers who have no desire to even finish playing a SP campaign in their favorite shooter? I don't see how you can make it more appealing to the shooter crowd without next to all role playing elements being eliminated. Anybody else see where this is going?
There of course could be another dynamic at work here that might explain Riccitiello's comments to further mass appeal the franchise. He's under increasing pressure from an EA board that's been very supportive of his decisions, but after 5 years and watching their company's stock decline 70% under his watch at $50.07-$16.18..................patience is growing thin. The company Riccitiello runs is now worth alot less than when he took over in 2007, and yet he still commands an enormous salary while other execs in the company have watched their options bleed out in an never ending decline. He's been spending hundreds of millions every quarter and most of these expansions and projects (like SWTOR) have yet to earn a penny or increase the company's value. Meanwhile EA's competitors like Activision have enjoyed watching their company's value increase and their stock go up 20%. As a few financial articles pointed out this week, it remains a mystery how Riccitiello has managed to keep his job.
What does all of this mean to Bioware and games like Mass Effect? Well it's not very hard to imagine is it? Mass Effect has been leaning in the direction of full fledged shooter, a simple shove completes the fall. It's not hard to imagine a fired Riccitiello and a dissolved Bioware if SWTOR doesn't perform well either. A new CEO would be inclined to clean up the mess and move the company towards profit making, that means cutting off dead weight. It's funny and depressing at the same time because it's like a train wreck that's happening in slow motion and everybody on board is just singing and laughing while each car in front of them is decimated.
I've given up. Whatever happens, just happens. But I do hope for Bioware's sake that SWTOR does well.
