Halo Reach was the first in the series, where seeing the cut scenes did not feel awkward.

Animations, the human faces, and the sync (played them in german) were gut wrenching at times.

sure, halo: Reach cinematics were great, but putting aside some scenes (tip of the spear and one other where you are running) the transition from cutscene to gameplay was aomewhat obvious. Not for heavly, but reminds me of that Resident Evil 5 rendering between In-game and cutscene. So I don't understand when people say games that have pre-rendered cutscenes that they could be done to a lesser extent in-game (uncharted)... even in-game, a cutscene is a linear movie where most devs render it in a way where its scripted to the purpose of it being a tech demo and harvesting the power of the scene.

(some) Halo 3 cinematics were glorious, especially the ones that use lighting & water heavily like the beggining sierra cutscene and the rescue of cortana or the argument on the covenant controldeck, but simpler hallways and when human characters were in scene, like you said, mostly were atrocious.
