So my good old Sony DTS (only 2 games have used this to my knowledge, ssx tricky and uncharted, much better sound quality, not so much on uncharted though..) amp fried to death

I might bury it in the garden to be fair, it's one of the family :(

I need a cheap replacement, times are hard till end of year (all my debts clear from november to january.. so excited :D) and then i gotta spend new found wealth on house..bloody women priorites are all fucked up..

So i gotta get a new one for the next year or two MAX, afterwards i will just hand it down to my nipper.

So looking at this (would prefer 7.1 but meh and THX apporved is nice, but its a extra 50 notes for nothing really..)

Plus, the Sony that you linked above(http://www.richersounds.com/product/av-receivers/sony/strda3500es/sony-strda3500) is not much better
than the Pioneer I told you about anyway, other than it does 7.1 as opposed to 5.1.

Seeing as money is an issue for us all right now, having the extra two speakers in a 7.1 setup seems crazy, so stick with 5.1 and grab that
Pioneer before the earth ends!

As for speakers, the package you linked seem ok to a degree, but you remember what happened to those `Egg` speakers I gave you don`t you?
The literally lasted you 5 minutes. I know that they weren`t specifically built for the job, but you`ll need something that take the punishment.

If you were going to spend the extra money on that Sony amp, then I`d save the £100, go for the Pioneer amplifier and spend £200 on a better
speaker package mate.

You remember the original Yamaha amp that you saw for £149.99 !?! well they have got that amp, PLUS the speakers you linked above, (£99.95 per set - totaling £250), for just £199.95 - THE LOT!!!!!!

That`ll save you £50 overall mate.

Although the amp in the linked package is different in name to that of the separate one you saw, the specs are IDENTICAL mate!

After looking on line though, people do tend to lean away from small Yamaha speakers man. Up to you though dude.

yeah just means i gotta save like fook :( but with my debts coming to a end on December the 22nd HOO-FUCKING_RAH! i should be able to buy centre and 2 books 1 month and month after the floorstanders then next 2 months over that buy my dual subs (1 behind my sofa and 1 by the other sofa, both put in corners to amplify the subs power so they dont have to work as hard)

I'd go for monitor audio over wharfs any day, more costly, but far better product.

Those look waaaay better in the flesh than the picture lets on too mate! After popping up the other night, I was highly impressed with not only the look of the speakers, but also their power and sound quality too!

The picture is somewhat misleading though, as the subwoofer isn`t square, (as shown in the image), but oblong in shape.

Shame that the 2 subwoofers `killed` / deafened everyone in your street lol. I told you that I would`ve opted for 5.1 all along, but maybe in the future you could play around with two subs again and get a nice balance?

Either way, I know what you`re like, and when you described the subs as `booming so loudly that theu sapped up all the breatheable air in the room`, I know it`s loud! rofl.

never really delt with pc speakers i set them up to my main amp if needed

Agree with ManThatYouFear, as these look the bollocks! The subwoofer is even `Active` too which`ll help during late night play lol.

I`ve got a set of Altec Lansing 2.0 speakers which I`ve had for yonks now and they are great:

Velodyne subs are amazing and even lower models like CHT Qs are great. Im loving my Yamaha RX-V 2067/Monitor Audio Silver setup tho ( which I'll upgrade to Platinium one day :P)
