If this game is HALF as good as the original Perfect Dark, then I'll be playing it for one year and a half instead of three.

LOL.

Wait and see guys. RARE is as good or even better than Bungie in providing high-quality-only games... Even more considering this is X360 FPS launch title, there should be no major disappointments, in order to sell the damn console.

It will rock. Yes, even HALO and HALO2. There's coop, counter-op, challenges, split screen, sytem link, LIVE, bots, 32 players max (will be boosted to 50 later on a patch). Jesus, this is next-gen, but even PD on N64 was and still is superb.

I just can't wait to get my hands on this.

A question for BlimBlim or anyone who knows the answer; how does the cover mode work? I mean, I know about the actual taking cover behind stuff bit, but does it replace crouching?

I've been looking at vids like crazy and it strikes me as a bit odd that especially the guy playing Jack Dark in the latest PDZ video on this site doesn't crouch once, despite obvious opportunities. That doesn't neccessarily mean you CAN'T of course, but the thing is; it seems to me that the things you would crouch behind could easily acts as context sensitive points for the cover mode. I have no problem with this mechanic at all, but it'll take a bit of getting used to.

To speak frankly, I have played this game about 2 minutes maximum. I'm not a FPS fan at all so I had rather spend more time on something I can actually speak about.

guys i think improving game is microsoft and rare strategy, halo playable build were terrible, just like pdz at mtv show, so we`ll in 3 months pdz will rape halo..

PDZ looks realy fun. But the AI is really last gen. The Enemies should actually be scared to die and take cover. Instead they just run towards you.

PDZ is just something to keep us busy till Halo3. It is very clever marketing to not show us halo3 yet.

You will see that pdz ai will improve greatly in month, we dont know how much complete game is, and game has improved much since e3 , anyway i think halo3 wont be a hit..i have such feeling thats it

Anyway, The AI shouldnt act stupid on easy, it should mean that they are easy to kill, and you are harder to kill.

Yup, the original Perfect Dark had dumber AI and less objectives. As you increase difficulty you have more objectives to complete and harder opponents to get through!

I'll be playing it on Perfect Agent from the start!

Yeah, this'll apparently open the levels up more and give you more stuff to do aswell.

I'm prolly gonna play it on the default difficulty first and then work my way up. :)

Yeah that would be good for us, but last time bungie spent most their time making trailers and forgot about the final game. This time round I think they've learned from their mistakes and are gonna make the real PS3 killer.

There is no trailer yet because the launch line up is so good that they do not want to take the shine off games like PDZ, Gears of War, PGR3, etc

Trust me though, Halo 3 will be the killer app of the generation. But for now we need to enjoy rare's contributions.

I'll quite frankly be VERY upset if the KILLER APP of the NEXT GENERATION is a sequel to a game of this generation. That would be a terrible thing for sure. Unless it changes A LOT, that is.

Anyway, getting back on topic, I can confirm that you do indeed crouch in this game. The cover mode is in addition to that. In the presentation video when the guy playing Jo looks down on the street below and sees Jack, he's shooting up some bedguys, and as he moves by the car, he crouches for a while and moves around.

Also, the GTV footage of the presentation at http://www.gametrailers.com is probably the best lit version of that demo around. It's not as sharp as xboxyde's for instance, but it does make some effects, such as the sunlight, easier to spot. Well worth checking out.

X05 Cam Demo is the one. :)

Although the X05 Cam Trailer 2 is pretty cool too. Despite some rather cheesy filmed footage, it features some in game stuff we haven't seen anywhere else yet.

Yeah I agree.

Man she looks so different in her full agent get up. They've really managed to capture the difference between like.. streety action doll Joanna with accessories and cheeky tank tops, and the cold, proffessional Jo that she turns into, just by the selection of outfits she wears. :)

Yes that video is much brighter.
Notice the Picture in picture, and then when you both get the automatic picture in picture, you get a picture - in picture - in picture, from Jack?

That's gotta take a lot of processing power.

(and yes, I saw Joanna ducking behind the girder, when she picks up the sniper rifle).

And yeah, that bit with Joanna ducking was actually the thing that made me doubt a traditional crouch mode at all, because he goes "I'm gonna go into cover mode" right before that. :)

Yeah, the "multi-windowing capabilities" of the Xbox 360 was refered to in the Ghost Recon 3 presentation at E3 too. I wonder if you can bring that window up at any time in this game, because that would be absolutely awesome for co-op on Xbox Live. I've had difficulties with co-op games on Xbox even in system link because you've been trying to point your friend to a certain destination and it's just impossible to do so without knowing even where he's facing. With this you can just bring that up and go "up to your left" and sort of direct him if you need to. Brilliant stuff.

Edit: lol, I just noticed I said "bedguys" in one of my previous posts, I must still be recovering from the lack of sleep last night. :D
