It looks great, but I agree that they need to iron out performance. There's always PC version (hopefully with full support for 360 controller), but Splinter Cell is one franchise that I grew really accustomed to play on Xbox.

Even though Michael Ironside is awesome, for some reason the voice doesnt fit to the character design of Sam Fisher in Conviction.

Anyway, game looks neat, very Jason Bourne/24 :D

I kinda see what you mean Sath. I dunno if it's the voice really but he sounds too composed. Maybe that contrast will be interesting when playing the game and you have some context, but the way you snuck around and you were very emotionally collected, Ironside's acting fit like a glove in SC, PT, CT and DA Xbox. DA 360's narrative was so shattered and near non-existant that you got no feel for Sam in it at all.

I think in order to fit the scenes we've seen from Conviction so far, Ironside would have to let loose a bit more. No matter how angry he sounds in the interrogation scene for instance, he sounds like he's ultimately in control. But yeah, once playing the game that might actually be the point in the larger context.

I hope so Simon, because i feel Ironside is trying to pull a Solid Snake (MGS) here, like David Hayter exagerates more than what he should for simple words and expressions to a length were it feels too annoying, like he is taking in too much heavy tone or something.

Ironside should let go of his Optimus Prime character a bit and loose up to a more fluid and normal tone for Sam Fisher. I seen him in video interviews and Terminator Salvation, and he sounds better than he does when pulling off a digital character.

It hasn't been this pronounced in the past though, it's clearly the whole "it's personal" angle that has him trying to play up the investment of Sam more. I think it's difficult to tell from the media released whether it's isolated to these situations where he NEEDS to be collected but is boiling underneath the surface - which would kinda make his delivery fit - or if this is actually the extent of his "angry" state.

It makes a lot of sense that Sam Fisher would be able to keep his feelings in check, even when it's about Sarah, because events that transpire in earlier games have clearly shown his ability to remain composed. I still imagine there'd be an underlying, explosive emotion to everything he does in Conviction though, and I think that's what this sounds like so far.

Well I hope the voice wont get annoying like Solid Snake, Kratos and Marcus Fenix. They exagerate almost every word they say, even if they are having a normal conversation.

Well I doubt there'll be a lot of cutscenes in this anyway. They always play up the narrative in the runup to an SC these days and then you get a vague thread you can only barely follow in the final game anyway.

Kratos is painful because his lines are from an 80s cartoon intro, Solid Snake harps on about philosophical nonsense while trying to maintain badassery, and Marcus Fenix is actually from an 80s cartoon intro but expected to say things of substance. They're kinda all different degrees of awkward. :)

What is this game's release date, because they really need to deal with the performance issues. How this game went from a flawless performance reveal to a game plagued by performance issues is just beyond me, really.

Awesome!

Amon Tobin is uncanny yeah, he was responsible for the InFamous soundtrack too, which was just eerily evocative.
I am obsessed with the Chaos Theory soundtrack, that sector on my ipod should +be corrupt the amount i play it lol

Yeah, it's superb. It's funny because on the original Xbox - mine anyway - the game would pause slightly before music loaded. Dunno if that was my dvd drive crapping out or if everyone had that.. but on the 360 it runs perfectly. Makes his music even more seamlessly merged with the atmosphere. Literally.

Outside of games, Amon Tobin's song Bridge is probably one of my faves of all time. It's kinda swing, if I were to put it close to a specific genre, but it's also got his fingerprints all over it. Give it a listen if you haven't. It's on the album Permutation.

yeah, that and the animations are worrying me after watching the gametrailers footage. i saw him climbing on a pipe and there was litterally no transition between each pipe. which is weird seeing as the game looks amazing and past games have had pretty damn good animations.

i'm sure it'll be polished up for release tho.

Just noticed that, very jarring. The game is so uneven graphically parts look great while other parts look like utter crap. I think I'll play the PC version after all, I want guaranteed 30+ fps and highres textures (hopefully PC version will have them).

Demos of SCC never had flawless performance, I'm afraid.

while i think this game is going to be AWESOME. i'm not really expecting anything special, or even "good" when it comes to the story, mainly since there hasnt been a single SC game with a good story, no, scratch that, there hasnt been a good tom clancy game with a good story....EVER.

I think the story in this one will be much better/interesting than the previous SC, as it looks like they have actually put some effort and time into it this time.

i thought that about double agent. sounded awesome. fisher loses his daughter in a car accident, goes double agent, gets put in prison to openly infiltrate a terrorist orginisation.... turned out really REALLY bad, and the very reason for that as becases they actually tried. i'm not really holding my breath for this one. thankfully the games play really well (not counting the "next gen" double agent of course) so it's not so much of a problem, but i cartaintly wont be getting hyped about it.

I'm sure the story will be more than good enough to carry the game, but i dont expect Mass Effect type excellence.
