Inscrit depuis 7509 JoursSo I played the game for about 2 hours in total and I think we can all agree that based on that amount of time, we cant judge any type of game let along a JRPG but anyhow:
Graphics: Superb - not a single doubt there and the 360 version performs splendidly. The countless debates we had here about PS3 vs 360 are so pointless it's not even funny. playing via HDMI at 720p on my HD screen and the game is gorgeous!
Story: seems alright for now. Two characters, though, I want to kick so bad because of their voice acting, I will let you find out who they are ;)
Combat: I haven't seen much of the combat yet but I got to the point of paradigms introduction which I havent played around with much either but here are my thoughts: The game starts off WAY TOO easy. I think square should consider giving the option to people familiar with these types of games to start off on perhaps a higher difficulty but I think what makes it may be seem the way it is, is the anticipation of how fun it could be in difficult situations. The combat is VERY slick and beautiful to watch and I can see it becoming a lot of fun when faced with tougher enemies... I really really like what I saw so far.
All in all, I am very happy so far. Cant complain too much :)

I actually like the story , its so much better than FF12's depressing starwars theme, it falls flat in terms of script writing but it could just be bad translation.
Anyways what Ace posted wasn't a spoiler, that doesn't happen to Vanille, although many might wish it did.

Inscrit depuis 7462 JoursBut as I say regarding a lot to do, If you take the weapon and accessory system for example each character has 8 weapons and those 8 weapons can be upgraded, when you max them out you can them transform them with a special item you can do that up to 3 times i believe, this takes a ridiculous amount of time and money (gil is very hard to come by)
I mean if you are a completionist then the game could last easily over 100 hours i would imagine, probably longer.
Going back to the battle system tho there isn't a great deal of choice, which is something that FF has always been about, the auto battle function chooses the best spells and attacks based on the monsters weakness which kind of take a lot of the fun away as the computer is kind of playing the game for you and as much as I hate to admit it you can't help but use it because you want to win the fight in the most effective way.
Of course button mashers will be happy with the combat system, but strategic people like myself will just wish for something a bit less forgiving and more complex.

Inscrit depuis 7602 JoursI understand that the structure of this is a result of applying the mindset of an action game to a jRPG, and I'm not really bothered by the changes that come with that approach at all. There's in theory been a shift away from the usual grinding to get numbers high enough to contend with a set of numbers on the boss or enemy's part, towards being able to focus on one enemy or one boss and really dig into the strategy part of it until you figure it out and you progress.
From what I understand you can always exit out of a battle and go back and set yourself up better for an encounter if you want, but once you're at a battle, there is a laser focus on that battle that is enforced by your retry/continue ability the way you'd want to retry a time trial race in a racing game.
This is all in theory though, I dunno how well this applies to the game. :)
