*A New Form of Change*
Any word on when this demo was put together, or how much we should expect it to represent the final game?

I'm more concerned about the sight having a bit of a mind of its own, the animation looking downright awkward in a lot of places, and the way the wall hug mechanic works pretty much when it feels like it.

Marumaro for the WIN !!
As a whole i think game will be great :)
Will get it on December, cant wait.
And personally much better than Uncharted.
Marumaro for the WIN !!
And personally much better than Assassin's Creed.
But sort of.... doesn't have any assassins in it. Or adventurers. Or jungles or medieval swords.
I really don't see how AC would replace Uncharted, and I don't even see how Uncharted is a platformer per se.
I will grab all of them, but I surely don't expect either Galaxy or AC to strike the same chord as Uncharted. In fact, I don't think any of them will trespass on the others' appeal.
Although; Is AC out? Did people recieve their pre-orders today? :O
Obviously they aren't the same games, but if people are expecting Uncharted to be a good platformer then I think they are guna be disappointed.
I know I sure am.
And no i got it early, through other means.
Marumaro for the WIN !!
I'm nontheless as surprised as anyone at how in depth they've tried to make the shooting, but it really only furthers the point that it's its own game.
I never ever thought Jak to be anywhere near as good as Sands of Time, nor do I consider Naughty Dog to be as obcenely talented as Ubi Montreal, so it's not really surprising to me if AC is indeed vastly superior, but to me Uncharted is a lot about exploring a subject matter that has gone remarkably unexplored. Uncharted, if you will. :>
Plus, it has a sense of humour and charm that'll only be more pronounced in the final game no doubt, carried over from ND's previous games and sure to set it apart from all the other hamfisted attempts at the same. I know Ratchet can't tell its ass from a good joke, at least. :(
Oh and AC prolly won't give anyone the giggles, unless they're girly giggles from Altair fandom.
NO I'M NOT A GIGGLY FANGIRL!... It's... you're..... I'm.... YOU'RE ALL POOPYHEADS!

"For seven hours, all we could do was sit still and listen to them hunting us. All we could do is sit, and wait for Phaethon."
Luckily it's still ways off here, time enough to play tons of Galaxy and AC.
Bring on Lost Odyssey!

Gameplay wise it's actually pretty close to Mario Galaxy in that it's simply a lot of FUN. It's fun and unpretentious in a way few games are these days, and while there's an expected LOAD more Prince of Persia-esque monkeying around than the demo indicated, the shooting is immediate, arcadey and video gamey in a brilliantly entertaining way.
I recommend this game with all my heart, and so far it definitely lives up to my rather lofty initial expectations.

there have been a lot of games this year that i hold pretty close to my heart and all of them get my GOTY for different areas
this game in particular is an easy win for graphics, gamplay and fun factor for me personally. and while its story may not be mass effect levels of depth and intricacy its still extrememly engrosing and entertaining and indiana jones like fun, a quote in the game actually summed the game up for me "never a dull moment"
amazing game.
You really love the characters for the way they ARE, not neccessarily just for the way they look too. I'm totally in love with Elena, and she's not even particularly attractive. It's just in the way she moves and the way the facial animation complements what she's saying and stuff.
The story might not be deep per se, no, but like I said before it really feels relevant, it has some real weight. You can sort of feel what's driving Nathan, and his supposed heritage isn't just stapled on, it's very much part of his character. I mean there's much more heartfelt ambition here than for instance in the semi-recent National Treasure's main character.
And the shooting is so fun that you don't give a damn when you die, because it's just so fun to work out a parh through a shootout, and the way Nate moves when he's being shot at gives the game such intensity.
I wouldn't say this is worth getting a PS3 for.. partly because like I was on about in the Mario Galaxy thread it's rare for me to feel that a game is a true "must have". However, if you've got a PS3 then you really should play this. I mean you can work out whether the subject matter is to your liking by just.. looking at the cover of the game. Adventure, treasure, pirates, etc. Beyond that though there's a game that adheres a surprising lot to old school gaming, and as pointed out at least twice before in this thread it's a damn lot of fun.
I'm playing on Hard by the way and I reckon that's a very good entry level of difficulty. There's also an unlockable difficulty, I'm guessing for when you've completed the game.
It's so great to play a game that does this good a job of building a story and making it feel complete too. I mean you can totally picture more adventures, but they'll be their own adventures you know. When credits roll and you feel a sense of closure, that's a real good feeling rarely brought on by games in these days of franchise flogging.
If you're not down with Disturbed, then FU! Thanks.
Now I just need to find a good Uncharted Theme :p
If you're not down with Disturbed, then FU! Thanks.
