Its wierd that he likes big boobs ?
Its the Uncharted thread, so why go off topic on boobies.

I love boobies myself, but its not a thread about them. :P

Staying on topic AND taking the titty metaphor (tittyphor!) further - I've pretty much gotten over the shock of itty bitties, and I'm starting to like them for what they are.

Any word on when this demo was put together, or how much we should expect it to represent the final game?

Apparently it is representative of the level structure of the game according to people who have finished it, it doesn't open up into big areas later on which would have interested me a little more.

Well that doesn't bother me at all to be honest.

I'm more concerned about the sight having a bit of a mind of its own, the animation looking downright awkward in a lot of places, and the way the wall hug mechanic works pretty much when it feels like it.

I see what you did there...you are like Acert when it comes to the PS3. Do not try to deny it, for I see what you have done here, and over there.
Hey, 65nm isn't here nor the pricing specifications I set for jumping in. At this point I am quite ticked to be honest.

Yeah I gotta agee, they sort of look less awkward as time goes by. I think it's prolly because this is a real guy instead of some cartoon semi-animal that the awkwardness is even noticable. It really does look good way too much to be entirely dismissed on the basis of a few cock ups.

Seriously if you want a good platformer, then get Assassins Creed, its frikkin awesome.

And personally much better than Uncharted.

If you want a great platformer then get Mario Galaxy, it's frikkin awesome!

And personally much better than Assassin's Creed.

But sort of.... doesn't have any assassins in it. Or adventurers. Or jungles or medieval swords.

I really don't see how AC would replace Uncharted, and I don't even see how Uncharted is a platformer per se.

I will grab all of them, but I surely don't expect either Galaxy or AC to strike the same chord as Uncharted. In fact, I don't think any of them will trespass on the others' appeal.

Although; Is AC out? Did people recieve their pre-orders today? :O

Well Mario is a different audience, mainly because of the art style etc.

Obviously they aren't the same games, but if people are expecting Uncharted to be a good platformer then I think they are guna be disappointed.

I know I sure am.
I really don't see how AC would replace Uncharted.
Well you jump about killing bad guys, sounds similar to me, maybe the game machinics are different, but I consider them very similar. (when im playing AC part of me is saying this is so much better than Uncharted, so there must be a link there somewhere)

And no i got it early, through other means.

Well, while I do believe the demo is deliberately "WOO, THERE'S SHOOTING OF PIRATE FACES!" to attract the masses and that the full game prolly has more platforming in it than this (with climbing mechanics so similar to PoP it'd surprise me if they weren't put to puzzly use at all), the game clearly isn't the clean cut platformer people expected it to be when they started flinging "male Tomb Raider" around. I always found that to be a coarse generalisation and hugely misleading.

I'm nontheless as surprised as anyone at how in depth they've tried to make the shooting, but it really only furthers the point that it's its own game.

I never ever thought Jak to be anywhere near as good as Sands of Time, nor do I consider Naughty Dog to be as obcenely talented as Ubi Montreal, so it's not really surprising to me if AC is indeed vastly superior, but to me Uncharted is a lot about exploring a subject matter that has gone remarkably unexplored. Uncharted, if you will. :>

Plus, it has a sense of humour and charm that'll only be more pronounced in the final game no doubt, carried over from ND's previous games and sure to set it apart from all the other hamfisted attempts at the same. I know Ratchet can't tell its ass from a good joke, at least. :(

Oh and AC prolly won't give anyone the giggles, unless they're girly giggles from Altair fandom.

NO I'M NOT A GIGGLY FANGIRL!... It's... you're..... I'm.... YOU'RE ALL POOPYHEADS!

This is actually a pretty god damn great game. It really captures that sense of wonder that the very first Tomb Raider has, where you really do care about seeing the next bit of it. The characters are beautifully realised, natural and charming, and the story really feels authentic and relevant.

Gameplay wise it's actually pretty close to Mario Galaxy in that it's simply a lot of FUN. It's fun and unpretentious in a way few games are these days, and while there's an expected LOAD more Prince of Persia-esque monkeying around than the demo indicated, the shooting is immediate, arcadey and video gamey in a brilliantly entertaining way.

I recommend this game with all my heart, and so far it definitely lives up to my rather lofty initial expectations.

couldnt agree more. especially on the fact the game is just pure FUN...i mean, its rare i play a game for that sole reason anymore, normally games are entertaining, intense, rich experiences like cod4 or mass effect. but i dont consider either of those games fun...their amazing...but not fun for me. drake however has the intensity and the entertainment value but with a large helping of fun...and i think its primerily down to drake and the characters around him. they actually have real CHARACTER, not just a polygonal shell that you control.

there have been a lot of games this year that i hold pretty close to my heart and all of them get my GOTY for different areas

this game in particular is an easy win for graphics, gamplay and fun factor for me personally. and while its story may not be mass effect levels of depth and intricacy its still extrememly engrosing and entertaining and indiana jones like fun, a quote in the game actually summed the game up for me "never a dull moment"

amazing game.

Yeah it really is remarkably well done. I'd go so far as to say I prolly like it the most of all of Naughty Dog's games yet. :O

You really love the characters for the way they ARE, not neccessarily just for the way they look too. I'm totally in love with Elena, and she's not even particularly attractive. It's just in the way she moves and the way the facial animation complements what she's saying and stuff.

The story might not be deep per se, no, but like I said before it really feels relevant, it has some real weight. You can sort of feel what's driving Nathan, and his supposed heritage isn't just stapled on, it's very much part of his character. I mean there's much more heartfelt ambition here than for instance in the semi-recent National Treasure's main character.

And the shooting is so fun that you don't give a damn when you die, because it's just so fun to work out a parh through a shootout, and the way Nate moves when he's being shot at gives the game such intensity.

I wouldn't say this is worth getting a PS3 for.. partly because like I was on about in the Mario Galaxy thread it's rare for me to feel that a game is a true "must have". However, if you've got a PS3 then you really should play this. I mean you can work out whether the subject matter is to your liking by just.. looking at the cover of the game. Adventure, treasure, pirates, etc. Beyond that though there's a game that adheres a surprising lot to old school gaming, and as pointed out at least twice before in this thread it's a damn lot of fun.

I'm playing on Hard by the way and I reckon that's a very good entry level of difficulty. There's also an unlockable difficulty, I'm guessing for when you've completed the game.

Finished it today, brill game! :D

It's so great to play a game that does this good a job of building a story and making it feel complete too. I mean you can totally picture more adventures, but they'll be their own adventures you know. When credits roll and you feel a sense of closure, that's a real good feeling rarely brought on by games in these days of franchise flogging.
